Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Review by Robbie Kennedy
"The Goblet is Smoking Hot"
This game is great. It is the fourth game in the highly acclaimed Harry Potter series, and it is perhaps the best of the series. It has some unique Playstation 2 features, as well as a Playstation 2 unique storyline. The graphics are great in this game; you can play as three different characters, all with different strengths and weaknesses. The soundtrack is quite boring though, and that is the only bad thing, but for the record, the spell sounds are good. This game does lack a multiplayer mode, but that is OK as there is enough in the single player mode to make up for the lack of a two player mode.
Graphically, this game beats out all other Harry Potter games for the Playstation 2. The characters have been really well done, and there are some lovely shadow effects under the faces, necks, arms, legs and the terrains. Places such as the castle, and the grounds, have been redone to look just like they do in the latest movie. This is good because it means that they are keeping up to date with the movies. The graphics, and game play flow smoothly together, and there is little to no lag in it.
There are some voiceovers in the game, which is always a good thing just as long as it does not slow down the actual game play. Emma Watson, Dan Radcliffe and Rupert Grint all contributed their voices to this game, and that is good because of their busy schedules. And the sounds for the spells are good, a voice breaths the spells as you assign them, which is quite a fun little Easter egg towards the game play.
The game play is really easy to pick up on, and it is quite easy to control for the first time. The control system is slightly different from the past games though, so if you are used to the past games, you are going to have to learn how to play this game. But it is quite easy to play, so it should not be that much of a change.
The storyline also sticks true to the movie. You have to beat the three tasks, and then beat what happens after that. This is good because some movie games deviate slightly, but this game sticks completely true to the movie.
I recommend that you get this game, whether you are a Potter fan or not. It is very fun to play, and it does not get old quick. There is a ton of replay value in this, and I think that you should get it because it will not get boring. So go out and get Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, because you will not be disappointed.
