"Go ahead, play it!"

Strumming a guitar can be easy. But can you strum it with a controller? That seems to be the case as Koei welcomes Playstation 2 with the puzzle game entitled "Gitaroo Man." What's that game you ask? Well, it's from 2001 and it's every Playstation fan that knows it's the musical version of "He-Man" without Man-At-Arms or Skeletor.

STORY: Ok, the story is like this. A boy is in his room, a devil shows up, the dog rips opens his flesh to throw a bone, and then...suddenly....It's Gitaroo Man to the rescue! All he has to do now is to save the world. And that's all there is to it. Every scene is breathtaking from the city, to the swamp, into outer space and everywhere in between.

Game Play: Ok, Ok, Ok, I get the idea. Why are you getting this puzzle game? Well, the idea is to be on offense by controlling an analog stick and following the lines to stay in it without screwing up or missing it, and be on defense by pressing buttons that is similar to "American Idol." It's kind of like football, but without the helmets and the grassy stuff. I happen to like it, but sometimes the levels get frustrating. Take for example, the stage where you serenade a girl with the pink hair, if you miss the wrong notes, she goes home and you're all alone. Can you say breakup?

GRAPHICS: The Graphics alone stand quirky. Dance Dance Revolution has the same graphics over & over when you pick a song, but the game however isn't. That's why if you are playing this game, you'll see eye-popping graphics when you're on offense & defense. The main menu, and everything else are nothing short of excellent.

SOUNDS: A female voice-over will tell you if you've won or lost, or...um, you know. Plus, the music department has done a good job by picking the best music any Playstation lover has to date. Sometimes, during the game, the guitar noise or anything else gets cut off when you don't stay in the lines or miss it. When can I get a soundtrack? Anyway, so far, my absolute favorite is the Mojo King Bee stage.

BUY/RENT: Well, if you're in the market trying to get Gitaroo Man, just go to ebay to find it. From there, prices range from $15-$40. Can you say inflation? Otherwise, buy the game at your local game store, and tell somebody that I typed this review. Heck, can't this game be $20 or $10?

OVERALL PRESENTATION: With the solid first-rate weird graphics, the jammin' music any gamer wants to hear, and everything else, this game is a best-seller. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to pick up where I left off on that level with the girl who has the pink hair and master it.
