Guilty Gear Isuka

Review by VampireLord47

"One of the Best, Guilty Gear gets in my favourites!"

I recently bought this game, out of friends telling me to. Normally, I'm not that big of a fighting game fan, but this made me convert. Previously, I have played Soul Calibur II [and beaten it], Digimon Battle Arena, and whenever I'm out and get the chance, I love a little Street Fighter, any number, any time. Oh, and Capcom Vs Marvel tops it up there.

I love the kind of animation used in this game, and this being the first Guilty Gear game I've purchased, I'd gladly go out and buy the rest, should I find them and have a lot of money on me at the time.

I'm used to playing as the big guy with the big sword, for example, Nightmare in SCII, and this game is no exception. I went straight for Sol Badguy, and was not disappointed. However, there are more than a few great characters to play as in this game. Some of my other favourites include: Anji Mito, and his giant axe, Dizzy and the awesomely created 'heaven-and-hell' style wings, Axl Low and his kickass chain and finally, the hottest one around, Testament and her badass scythe, with the goth vibe.

...However, twenty minutes and sixty-seven levels into the game, I found it a little too easy, which is why I couldn't give it a ten. Also, due to the reason that the backgrounds get a *little* repetitive, but that really has no effect on the gameplay.

It's a great game, don't get me wrong, and if any of you want a new fighting game, go straight out and purchase it. However, if you're looking for a challenge, and are advanced at these sort of games, maybe you should find something else.

So, to wrap it up, I give you a list of pros and cons.

PROS:
* Different style of animation
* Great design of characters
* Perfect for beginners to the fighting game industry
* Great start for the Guilty Gear mania for those who've never played one before

CONS:
* A little too easy
* Backgrounds get repetitive

I know it's a little early to be saying this, but it's in the top 3 of Vamp's Favourite Games of 2006.
