"The improved version of DDR"

Introduction
A little while after DDR Extreme (8th mix) came for the arcades, Roxor Games made In the Groove a.k.a. ITG and was able to have it upgrade on the DDR platforms. Well with the hype ITG was getting, Roxor Games and Redoctane decided to publish ITG for the PS2. And lo and behold, we have the best kind of dancing game for PS2!

Gameplay
If you have played a DDR game, ITG is basically the same thing yet it has more features and more customizations. After selecting a song, basically you have an arrow bar and arrows go up to the bar. You have to press your mat/controller in coordination with the arrows that reach the arrow bar. ITG offers a lot of extras in changing your gameplay though. You can throw in mines that you have to be careful not to press to, ways to change the way arrows fly up to the bar, speed modifications, dancing with your hands as well as your feet, and much more! The game is set with beginning modes and can go all the way up to a mode for experts.

Sound/Graphics
The songlist in this game is adequate for your gaming needs as you have many selections that are pleasing to listen to and there are various genres but the majority of them are instrumental techno beats that are fast paced which is perfect for dancing to. There is no announcer to comment on your performance but that makes it more serene. As for graphics, moving repetitive backgrounds are used behind the arrows and arrow bars. the life bar has a bright red and bright blue color that makes it stand out which is perfect to know your status. The game is set up perfectly.

Playtime and Replayability
Definitely a plus. With all the songs that you can check out and all the customizations that are offered you'll have a great time checking it out. It can get old after a while though, so I'd recommend having this game around when you are with friends so you can play with them.

Overall
Definitely check this game out. Buy a pad and the game and see what the hype was about.
