Mega Man X8

"The newest X game for the PS2"

After playing all the X games again. I decided to rewrite my review for X8.

Mega Man X8 is the latest X game which is available for the PS2 and PC (for Europe and Japan only). This is alright for an X game but definitely not the best, but it's better than X5 and X7, tons better..

Graphics: 9
Very good graphics, for the latest installment of MMX not the best but very good.
3D models instead of X7's Cel Shaded graphics, a big upgrade. Like I said before in my previous review of this game you could probably compare to the Jak and Crash Bandicoot games.

Controls: 10
The controls are good like always, pretty much the same set up from Mega Man X4-X6, except you have to switch to Giga Attack and press triangle. There also some changes to the controls. L2 switches characters and R2 does a team attack.

Gameplay: 8
Err... well it's different gameplay than all the others instead of searching for most of your upgrades you buy them, the only ones you search for are weapons for Zero, and guess what? Once you found them you have to buy them too! Other than that the gameplay is the same, it's fully 2D, thankfully.

Sound: 10
Good music and good sound effects like every X game. And finally they got some decent voiceovers, for players of Command Mission they have the people who voiced X, Zero, and Axl are on here. Thankfully.. compare to X4 and X7.

Replay Value: 9
If your a Mega Man fan you'll most likely go through this game quite a few times.
But if you are a collector and want to collect everything in this game you'll most likely want replay this game at least 2 times.

Overall: 9
Like I said this isn't the best X game but it's one of the better ones out there. It's very fun none the less. I'd say that you should play this game at least once.

Rent or Buy: Depends
Well, it really depends if you like the style or not. I'd say rent it first see what you think about it then decide, or if you like the style of this game from how I described it then buy it.
