SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs

"'The Most Amazing Online Shooter' for the PS2 is back!"

As many of you know, there was recently a release of Socom 3: US Navy Seals for the PS2. This game places you in the battle area. Not only is it one of the most amazing games for the PS2, but it uses every last bit of the PS2's technology before the PS3 is released.

Graphics 9/10

The graphics are pretty crazy. There are alot of things that the graphics lack, however. In Socom 3, there are occasional times when the graphics will skip, mostly in multiplayer. But this does not occur often and it is hardly an issue for any S3 gamer. As for the rest of the graphics, they are amazing, packing explosions, gore and much more! When a gernade blows up, it doesn't just make a noise, but you see the actual gernade exploding in a realistic manner. Also, the smoke gernades are very good. Unlike in Counter-Strike where the smokes do nothing, the smoke gernades in S3 spray out slowly, covering a wide area, allowing you to escape or move past an enemy.

Gameplay/Features 10/10

The gameplay is amazing as well. You have cool new features, including a better voice over and story, customizable weapons for single player AND online play, and extreme team cooperation. If you do not act as a team, chances of you winning are slim to none. Take advantage of the headset by giving your squad commands. Be stealth, or go in with guns blazing. It's your squad and it's your choice. Socom 3 now introduces more supression missions. Alot are still stealth, but many missions will now recquire you to shoot to kill. You can now drive in boats and ground vehicles, including types trucks and tanks. All in all, the gameplay is astonishing.

Online 10/10

The online play is godly. Need I say more? Aside from the people that DO NOT play as a team, the online play is incredible. Use the vehicles to your advantage by picking your teammates up and attacking the enemy in groups. This will allow a wider range of gameplay. Many people complain about snipers, but what they don't know is that Zipper made it quite easy to get past a sniper. Even if a sniper has a thermal, one thing that disrupts a thermal is an explosion. It will allow you to throw a gernade causing a disruption where you can quickly run past. Still, the rest of the online play is great. It does require a credit card validation, to possibly stop cheaters. After validation, you gain access to features such as friends, clans, rankings, better rooms and much more!

Teamplay 10/10

Socom 3 will not let you survive unless you play as a team. Stick with your squad, online and offline, to assure yourself of life instead of death. Move through the feilds with stealth, or risk it all with your team and go for the kills. Either way, teamwork is a big part of your success in Socom 3.

Overall 10/10

All in all, this game is great. There are occasionally people that complain about certain weapons, only because they cannot win unless those weapons are restricted. But for the most part, it is a great community to be a part of. If you a fan of online shooters, then Socom 3 is a must get. Hurry, pick it up today!
