NBA Street Vol. 2
Review by seahawksdude37
"Too simple, got old after a bit. But was fun at first."
Gameplay: 8/10
NBA Street 2 was very fun at first but got kind of old. After beating the game I discovered it was so simple. Just do a high level trick and it will fake out your opponent. Then drive to the basket and pull of a flashy dunk. At first you would try and do something else when you started out. Like shooting a three pointer and far away shots. This is the easiest way to win. Although doing an of the heezy and then doing a nerve damage dunk is way more fun. To me the whole objective of a game is to see how many trick points and game breakers you can get in one game. I did best with my created ball player rather than the NBA stars and Old skool players. This was because it was hard to pull off a crazy dunk when you get a rebound under the net. The only way is to get a running start and some space. But the big forwards can't dribble. Then I tried the guards, guess what. They can't dunk. I then created a player built his skill so he had golden dribbling and 5 star dunking abilities. I then dribbled around everyone and did crazy dunks. It was fun for a while and so was skooling my friend Jiho at it but it got old. Although maybe the game designers made it this way so people couldn't do what I did and had to find other ways. Because it was pretty unorganized these ways were hard to find. Of course you could just do a fancy dribble and then do a lay up but that isn't as much fun. I think all basketball games needed to make there more to shooting than there is. You should actually have to aim. It was to easy because the players like never missed. This made shooting to easy. There also should have been way more moves that you can do. Mostly dribbling and when you get a rebound. There was only the dunk to lay up and pump fake. Although I liked the dunk to lay up and pump fake. They took a little skill. Dribbling also needed more to it than doing a fancy one and your opponent falling over. I think those moves should have been more for showing off.
Defense was too simple and easy. Just wait for the other player to shoot then jump up and block it. I thought there were way too many blocks in this game. Real basketball players don't get blocked half as often as in NBA Street. Although this game was obviously not intended to be realistic that was a good thing. I never even tried to steal or do anything else I just blocked people. There was no goal tending rule. This was bad because some of the guys were so good that you could just stand in front of the basket and wait till they shot. Then make an easy block. Although I must admit it was fun denying everyone so often.
Graphics: 7/10
Although the graphics weren't that good it didn't really matter. It just wasn't the kind of game were people care about the graphics. As long as the graphics weren't horrible it wouldn't have mattered. Even if the graphics were excellent it wouldn't have mattered. The people were OK and that is all that mattered in my opinion. The rest was kind of plain and that is why I gave it a 7 instead of and 8. I think they could have added something more. Although running up and down the court and doing those things probably made most people ignore this.
Sound: 9/10
Similar to the graphics most of the sound wouldn't have mattered to me. Although it got a nine because I think the game had all it needed and was done well. What are you supposed to do for the sound in that game? Music and the commentator went nicely. The commentator was definitely good how he always made fun of people's mess ups. I also liked the noises it made when you faked a guy out or did a nice dunk. They were simple and good. The music was good because it had no words. A major song would have been bad but instead they just put some background type music.
Replay value: 8/10
The way you will probably enjoy NBA Street 2 is to beat be a legend and NBA challenge then just play pick up games. Some people will find it hard to enjoy beating those then doing them again. So just play pick up games when you feel like playing this game. Or you can start one of the two and then continue it whenever you play. When
Overall: 8/10
Pretty fun at first but gets dull after a while. If I were to grade this game after the first time I played it would get a nine. Not a ten because that would mean the game is perfect and no game is perfect. But if I were to grade it after I had played it a bunch it would get a 7. Overall the game was too simple. Especially after you play it a lot and master it. Although it not being so complicated was fun. It just got kind of old. Maybe if the game creators found a way to make it so you could use complicated moves and such but could still just do it simply.
