The Getaway, please don't getaway

The Getaway: Black Monday is a sequel to The Getaway. It is a fast moving exciting game. You play as the Police man Mitch for the first couple of missions then you hit it off as Eddie, but now time for the review.

Graphics

Excellent, players are in depth. The blood on the ground or Eddies top doesn't look like tomato sauce and there hands are not squares. It exceeds where a lot of games failed. The skin is smooth, hair looks good for its time clothes look real. When they talk it doesn't look like a dubbed movie, the mouth goes with the woods. When this game came out it was top-notch graphics. Now the bar has been pushed a little bit higher yet this game is still up there. Cars dust from the wheel makes you want to cover your mouth before you breath it in. Sam's butt (Sam's a girl just in case you don't play the game) when she is crawling looks great and real nice. They did a greats job. 10/10

Sound

They might as well be standing next to you it sounds so good. When you shoot a gun it might not sound as good as that new game Black but it still sounds good. The cars sound like the real thing, except when you hit a car yourself. Footsteps and grunts from pain all sound great. I really enjoyed some of the music they had in this game. Some of the effects could have had a little bit extra time spent on though. 9/10

Plot

I feel the plot has to be good in a game or the game is ruined. The plot is quite strong in this game, it has it weaknesses and it strengths. Since you get to play as the police and the bad people you see two sides of the story line. The reason the I put the word bad in italics is that when you play as Eddie and Sam, sure your bad but there are also other bad people which I believe are worst. The plot is great, I don't want to give to much away but your trust going to have to trust me. There are some things you won't see coming and some things you knew had to happen. 9/10

Gameplay

Whaoooh! This is absolutely great. Where you fight, how you heal. How you get around when you are Sam is great. When your Eddie how you blast them away is great! I enjoyed it like a young boy looking at a naked lady for the first time. It is kinda like Grand Theft Auto but without the army getting on you and the pay n sprays eg. You often have to hide behind corners when low in health and when you can't heal anymore, waiting for that perfect shot to come rolling towards you. You heal by leaning against a wall, just like in the first Getaway game. Yet now you can only heal a couple of times. The car chases are great fun shooting out the window of the car, trying to keep up with the car. 10/10

Length

I felt that I had to put this in since this is where the fall of The Getaway: Black Monday is. There are 22 chapters in the game, a reasonable book size I guess but for a game no. Especially when some missions or chapters are quite short. If this game was more like 35 chapters then I would think this game is up there with, lets say the better games, but its not. That's the problem with this game is it excels at a lot of other aspects then cuts the game short short. 5/10

Overall

This is where I get to say the stuff I can't fit in the parts of the review. First of all the sneaky girl Sam who you do a couple of missions as looks different from the game and the poster you get of inside of the game cover which is supposed to be them in real life. Now, even though Gameplay, Sound and the plot is good, that can't cover up for the length of the game. Let me round up the three people you will be playing as- Mitch – Police officer, shoot first ask questions later. Eddie – tough robber guy, former boxer. Sam – Cute hottie, sneaks around the guards. It would be better it you could play as her more. You can also free roam, where you can roam the streets of a pretty good looking London. I have put everything together and I am going to give this game a… 8/10 I wish it could be 10, needs to be longer.

Better than : The Getaway
Worst than : Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas
