Driver: Parallel Lines
Review by StealthyDragon
"A much better improvement this time around."
Story:
It starts off with a 18-year-old character named 'The Kid' (or TK). The Kid was from out West and moved to New York City and started to love it just after a few weeks. He is very good with his driving skill. Eventually, he was step up and thrown into prison for 28 long years. He's angry and is out for revenge.
The story doesn't have a lot of in-depth to it, but it's okay.
6/10
Graphics:
There's nothing too spectacular about the graphics and they are mostly the same from Driver 3, but maybe with just a little improvement to them. The cut-scenes are pretty nice, though. There are new crash effects if you end up ramming into a car/object and bullet marks now show on cars if you shoot at them, which is another nice little touch.
7/10
Sound:
The soundtrack is very good and I was quite pleased. The music from '78 was great, but the music in '06 wasn't as pleasing but they still did a nice job with the soundtrack. The voice acting was outstanding. Everything else is decent, too.
7/10
Gameplay:
The driving is very fun this time around and has also been improved. There's plenty of traffic, which makes it more realistic and there's also massive city to explore with mini games available once you start completing missions. You can now customize your stored vehicle with different colors and various parts for it. The drive-by shooting is pretty good, too. It's definitely a lot of fun to be chased around by the police. They have the burnout with the X button now. You have to hold down the button to get the burnout, but press gently if you don't want to use it.
The on-foot is kind of decent. There's a decent variety of guns in both eras of the game. You can now auto-aim like in GTA. There's one problem - you can't really shoot at someone too well if they're behind you, though. You can't swim now either, which isn't really a big deal. The A.I. of the police is a bit more aggressive. I think they tuned the A.I. up a little too much. The gameplay does have its flaws, but it's still good and I'm pretty much satisfied of how it all came out.
