Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends

"So, they made it better...."

When I heard of the impending release of Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends, I knew it would be good. Of course, I expected some things, the Legend Mode, Xtreme Mode, but Destiny Mode...I was impressed.

Its the sort of things you discuss with your mates. The DW series should have a Destiny Mode. I did. Me and my friends were discussing ideas we knew no-one whould ever care about, or listen to, thats why I was so shocked to find out about Destiny Mode.

DW is Koei's best selling game. It is also its most well known, and it deserves to be. It is a cut'n'slash game, with you following the history of China from 184 A.D to 239 A.D. It has a variety of modes, and characters. It follows at total of 48 playable ones, and over 400 NPC's. It is a strategic game in a sense, with some action and good drama, making it highly recommended.

DW5XL is no different. It adds more hack'n'slash to DW5, and enables you to make your DW5 data even better. Knowing this, people still ask why buy it, and criticse it. This review will change your minds.

If you know DW, you know the ability of create a unique officer is no change. DW4,4XL and 4E had it. 5 didn't but Koei used its head and returned it. But Destiny Mode is different. It allows you to create a background to your characters, give them a story, and make them true heroes. I wouldn't want to get across the message that Destiny Mode or even the acual game has no flaws, but this new mode gives an edge to the game, and always something to do.

This whole review isn't, believe it or not, just about DM. The actual game itself gives a strategic and sometimes annoying gameplay, with constant button mashing, and screaming at the T.V screen. This game won't help your blood pressure much, but its bound to get your adrenaline pumping, and you're likely to feel yourself getting into the game, regardless of your initial thoughts. Its a game to play with others, even if its only to show your mates up.
