1. Introduction (INT10)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello. My name is Kevin and this is my eighth FAQ, on my second favourite
Wu character, none other than the Tiger of Jiang Dong, Sun Jian. He was my
introduction to the Dynasty Warriors world. I still remember killing that
first Yellow 'Turban' with him in DW4...ah, the good ol' days...anyway, he
fortunately has a Musou Mode that isn't historically accurate, but at least
he has some flashy cutscenes. Rock on, Sun!
Oh yes, before we start, FYI I copied this FAQ directly from my Guan Yu FAQ
in DW5. If you see Guan Yu or DW5 anywhere in this FAQ notify me and I will
destroy them.
NOTE: Email me only for these reasons:
* This FAQ is on a website other than the ones listed in the Copyright.
* This FAQ is being SOLD for personal profit.
* Someone else claims they made this FAQ.
* I have made a mistake in something e.g. attack, typos etc.
* You want information on something that I have NOT mentioned in the
FAQ, about Sun Jian.
* You have suggestions on what to put in on my next update
* You have CONSTRUCTIVE critisism.
If your information is helpful/useful I will put your name in the Credits
section. It's not much, but at least you and everyone else who looks at the
credits will know you helped.
All other e-mails will be deleted. Please remember that I often forget to
check my address, but if I have read your e-mail, I will reply IF it is
about one of the above mentioned areas. SIGN YOUR NAME OR ALIAS at the end
of your e-mail or you lose your place in the Credits and I know you are a
bad reader! Also, I will not accept any emails with illegible/inappropriate
words; please try to use proper grammar. Also, put your email as the subject
"Sun Jian FAQ" or something along those lines. Thank you

It's only one so far, but I may put it on more. Please keep it like that,
and DO NOT steal my FAQ or claim you wrote it, as it has been made by
people's hard work.

1.2. Dynasty Warriors 6 (DW612)
-------------------------------
Dynasty Warriors 6 (and all from 2-5) is the videogame based on the novel
by Luo Guanzhong based on the events of the three kingdoms era in China,
one which has captured the hearts (or attentions, at least) of millions of
Chinese people. Being Chinese, I had an obligation to read it; so, I did!
Buy the HUGE abridged version today! It's a good read! Anyways, DW6 is the
fifth, technically sixth as there was already a 2D fighter game called that
before the one we know and love came out. I've played Dynasty Warriors
since (drumroll!) 4 came out on the PC! Wow! But still, I'm pretty
experienced!
Dynasty Warriors 6 has introduced some very drastic changes to the series,
with nearly all of the characters getting a makeover and changing their
weapons. The Renbu System has also been introduced, as has the skill tree.
<Horror>Characters are now mostly clones (in moveset only) and Unique (4th)
Weapons, Items, Edit Characters and Bodyguards have all been cut.</Horror>
----------------------------
1.3. Version History (VSH13)
----------------------------
Version 1.0: Got in his amazing biography, an intro to the Renbu System,
his moves, his weapons and his skill tree, as well as Musou
Mode
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Sun Jian's Bio (BIO20)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NAME: Sun Jian (In Mandarin Chinese, say it as Swun Jyen)
STYLE NAMES: Wentai
LIFE: AD155-AD191
SERVED (or ruled, rather): Wu (Sun)
BIOGRAPHY: NOTE - This biography is based on his TRUE life, not the portrayl
of him in the Luo Guanzhong novel
Sun Jian was born in the Fuchan Prefecture (present day Fuyang). He is said
to have been a descendant of Sun Tzu, the writer of the Art of War. He was a
civil officer. His name spread when he met a band of pirates in Qiantang. He
tricked the soldiers into thinking they were surrounded by soldiers, and cut
them down.
Much later, he joined Zhu Jun in an effort to quell the Yellow Scarves
Rebellion. He was a leading general, and contributed in defeating them
greatly. He then joined Zhang Wen as an advisor, and he put down many local
rebellions, broadening his reputation. He was enfeoffed as the Marquis of
Wucheng.
Soon, a coalition formed to fight Dong Zhou. Sun Jian joined with Yuan Shu
where he was made governer of Yuzhou. Jian moved to Liangdong, but was
outnumbered. He escaped, regrouped his troops, and engaged in battle at
Yangren, killing Hua Xiong (Guan Yu, my butt!). Scouts reported to Yuan Shu
and he was advised that if Sun Jian defeated Dong Zhou, he would be
uncontrollable. Shu cut of his supply line. That night, Sun Jian went to
him and said "I put myself to danger in battle, first to remove the rebel
(Dong Zhuo) for the country and second to avenge the deaths of your kinsmen
(Yuan Shu's uncle was killed by Dong Zhuo). I have no personal grudge against
Dong Zhuo. Yet you could believe slanderous talks and suspect me!". Yuan Shu
was ashamed, and reinitiated the supply line.
Dong Zhuo was now fearful of Jian and sent Li Jue to seek peace with him in
the form of a marriage. Sun Jian shouted him away, and advanced towards
Luoyang. Dong Zhuo razed it before he arrived, though, and retreated to
Chang'an. Sun jian searched Luoyang and got his men to reseal the tombs of
former emperors Zhuo excavated. He then found a seal of the emperor's
(called the Imperial Seal in DW). Yuan Shu declared himself emperor, and held
Sun Jian's wife hostage in exchange for the seal.
In 191, Yuan Shu sent him to attack Liu Biao in Jingzhou. He defeated Huang
Zu, one of his subordiates. However, as he pursued the enemy towards
Xiangyang, Sun Jian was ambushed and killed (either shot to death by arrows
or crushed by boulders). Sun Ben (his nephew) collected the surviving troops
and returned to Yuan Shu, who made him the new governor of Yuzhou. Sun Jian
was buried in Qu'e, and was given the posthumous title 'Emperor of Wulie'.
And so ends the story of Sun Jian.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. The new Sun Jian (NEW30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I earlier mentioned (and as you know), Dynasty Warriors 6 has changed a
lot of the game, with Renbu, skill tree and just general character changes.
The new Sun Jian is a clone of Huang Zhong and Xiahou Yuan. Again, curse
Koei for this. Nonetheless, Sun Jian is fun to use, even without his super
speedy katana. He still looks badass though. Phew.
NOTE: To unlock Sun Jian, complete any 3 Wu musou modes.
-------------------------
3.1. Renbu System (RNB31)
-------------------------
So, what is this new Renbu system, you may ask? Well, here are the answers
you seek. This is a drastically different fighting system that claims to
revolutionise the game (or make it more realistic, at least). Note that the
Renbu gauge reverts to zero for a character after every battle.
Here is my crude drawing of the bottom left corner of the game screen.
| (BIG NUMBER)chain: The number of hits made
| (BIG ) without actually being hit
| (NUMBER) (NO): The Renbu. It levels up when the
| chain Renbu gauge fills. Its maximum is 2 but it
| can go higher
| RENBU: The Renbu gauge, filled by hitting
| (NO)RENBU enemies
| RENBU PICTU (Level): The level you are
| RENBU PICTURE (Level) PI: The item needed to use your character's
| RENBU PICTUREPI S S PI CT skill (Tome)
| PICTUREPICT S S CT
| PICTUREPI BARBARBARBAR
| PICTURE BARBARBARBAR
|
|______________________________
The gauge fills up when you attacking enemies, and the Renbu will rank up
once the gauge fills. The chain number is how long you have been fighting
the enemy without being hit by a strong attack. The higher the chain the
more your Renbu will increase, it appears. The Renbu gauge goes to 3, then
infinite, but you need to have unlocked parts of your skill tree to go to 3
or infinite.
So, what's the point of Renbu, eh? Well, the characters' attacks become
better as Renbu increases. S-String will increase in length, as do weak
charges, and strong charges get special effects or increased distance. Also,
as Renbu increases, attack reach, attack speed and attack power will
increase a small amount, depending on what sort of weapon you have.
The Renbu gauge will fall if you don't keep fighting or if you are hit by a
powerful attack. So use it well!
Also, there are special moves unlockable by finding an item on the
battlefield. They obviously help you in some way. Sun Jian's is Swift
Attack, which gives him access to the joys of infinite renbu for a while.
Use it when your health is red for increased power.

6. Sun Jian's Musou Mode (MSU60)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
6.1. The Yellow Turban Rebellion (Han Forces)
---------------------------------------------
Ah, the yellow turbans. Time to exterminate. Run forwards immediately and
take the gate. Kill Guan Hai and go up the stairs. Enter the southeast
fort and take it. Go out through the west exit, and pause. View the map
in birds-eye. You should be on a small elevated platform. Run to the end
of the platform, and jump to the north side of it, right near the
drawbridge on the side of the enemy officer. Run to him (around this time
a cutscene will occur), take him (Deng Mao) down, as well as Huang Shao,
and knock the drawbridge down (this should be within 5 minutes, to get a
target). Kill Gao Sheng. Run down the stairs to the centre camp, and take
it, eliminating Liu Pi and Bo Zhang. Head east and break into east fort.
Kill the generals inside and take it. Head along the winding east path,
and break the northeast first gate (take it). Head along to Zhang Man
Cheng, also killing his subordinate Yu Fulao. Kill him to stop the flames
and head out the area to the other side. Take northeast second gate. Kill
Zhang Bao & Sun Zhong. Head to the altar and destroy it to stop the dust.
Jump onto the main staircase (use a charge attack to get extra height over
it), then to the other altar (use charge attack again). Destroy Zhang
Liang and the second altar. The rest of the dust should stop, and you
should get your second target. Make sure Huangfu Song and Zhu Jun are in
the camp, then kill Zhang Jiao and Liao Hua to end this level.
