Is downloading the patch automatic? my rb1 guitar doesn't work with my rb2 set =(

If you are logged in to your PSN account, the game should automatically tell you an update is available when you turn it on. I know that I have all current updates and my Guitar Hero III guitar works just fine in Rock Band.
