The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition
Question from Quadrata
Asked on: 12/4 6:59PMI know that in the game three days after your character catches porphyric hemophyllia, you turn into a vampire. I proceeded through the quest for curing the disease, talking to a priest, then Raminus Polus, then Count Hassildor, then Melisande, then I collected the 5 empty Grand Soul Gems, and then was given the section of the quest for collecting 6 cloves of garlic, 2 shoots of bloodgrass, 5 nightshade leaves, argonian blood, and Hindaril's ashes. I collected the garlic (for some reason she only took one from me), then I collected the bloodgrass, but for some unkonwn reason she wouldn't accept it from me (as in the topic would not turn gold), I kept trying to talk to her and she still wouldn't accept it from me. In another file when I was further along in the game I encountered the same problem, but I continued along with the quest and I collected all of the ingredients and gave them to Melisande and she still wouldn't take my bloodgrass. I thought it was a similar problem as with the garlic, so I tried collecting more and again she would not accept it from me. I tried collecting it from different places, from Oblivion itself, the enchanted chest from the Arcane University, and from the wilderness. Is this a glitch with the the game, or am I doing something seriously wrong here? I would really appreciate an answer! Please help me!
I have discovered the answer to this question thanks to "Hobospartan" who answered "Telvanni_Lord"'s question "Where can I find Daedric armor?" in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition answers section of this site in which he pointed to this Wikipedia based site: http://www.uesp.net. I found the answer on this page:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Cure_Vampirism#PS3_GoTY_Vampirism_Cure_Notes
I have yet to test this solution, but I will tell anyone who is interested in the solution to this problem that I am playing on the PS3 Game of the Year Edition of this game and to fix this solution you NEED to have a non-Game of the Year Edition AS WELL AS the Game of the Year Edition. The section that you need to look for is the "PS3 GotY Vampirism Cure Notes" section of the page about 2/3 of the way down. It lists the exact order and procedure that needs to be followed; read ALL OF IT! If someone happens to test this solution before I do post your answer so that I can change my question from open with pending answers, to answered finally!

statusI believe that this is a glitch with several versions of the game. Although I have never encountered this problem during the many hours I have played this game, I have heard the same glitch reported by other people. Do not take my word for it 100%, but i am pretty sure that this is an unfixable problem that will have to be dealt with for the duration of the game unless you start a new game. To avoid the glitch, I think that you have to collect and give the ingredients in order.
It also happens with me , she wont take the grass!! i have created a new save and restart the whole game because the sun damage is annoying and dangerous if you save in wildernnes you could be stuck.
I am really dissapointed in Bethesda.
I had the same problem recently and posted a very similarly-worded question. The Game of the Year edition has a glitch that won't let you hand over the bloodgrass. You're stuck. There are only a couple of options- 1) Hopefully, you follow the wise RPG rule of thumb and rotate between two or three different save files, and hence, still have one before you began having the full-on vampirism dreams. Those dreams happen after you have been infected with the Polyphoric Hemophilia for 3 days and sleep. When you awake from the sleep, you are a full-vampire. During those 3 days, however, you can go to a chapel and pray at the main altar, or simply take a potion of cure disease (you can even make your own with a mortar and pestle!), and the Polyphoric Hemophilia will go away, thus preventing the impending vampirism. If you load an earlier file, you can avoid all of this. That's what I did, which was originally frustrating, but ultimately, well worth it. 2) You can get a "vanilla" edition of the game to play (non-GOTY edition) and load your file using the vanilla game disc. Supposedly, from what I have read, that should circumvent this problem, but I can't personally vouch for it.
Whichever you choose, I wish you luck with this frustrating problem!
the thing thats wrong is that you probably completed the main quest that closed all the gates leading to oblivion meaning you can't get fresh bloodgrass. I belive that there is a solution by going to Shrine of Peryites were you get transported to oblivion to rescue his followers im not sure it works. If you start a new game make sure you do the aid for bruma quest before you complete the vampire quest or you would be stuck on the aid for bruma guest
I have the same problem and am dissapointed to learn there's no "cure" - and I've tried everything. It's very frustrating to have to reload an earlier version and do some quests all over again. As with Lokishade, I'm dissappointed in Bethesda.
Success, i tried the solution and it worked for me!!!!
iam a 27 level Emperial class , and i used the non-GOTY oblivion disc to load my save after saving inside the witch hut after i swapped the discs and return to GOTY edition and loaded my save , the miracle happens finally , the dreaded gray blood grass sentence became gold in her lines , and she took them finally .
although i lost all items and gear from Shivering islands, but its worth it .
Thanks Quadrata for the info you have my gratitude forever.
It also happens to me.I am level 24 and I have to suffer by drinking human blood everyday it is very frustrating. I stopped playing the game for like 4 month. Then after i get my oblivion(non-goty edition)I was so happy that the old women finally took my bloodgrass. The sad thing is that I lost all my shivering Isle items and armour.
