I was going to try and use it to get Red Hare but I want to know does it work on the PS2 edition.

It shoudl still work, as the only thing that was adjusted was the graphical touches of the game. From what I hear, it plays exactly the same, albeit with tons of slowdown and graphical ugliness. It should still work if it was left in the code. The best thing to do is try it yourself by adjusting the PS2's internal clock.
