I have downloaded shivering isles but there is not any new areas on my map.

statusYou'll see a message saying that you've heard a rumour of a door opening in the middle of a lake, and then it should appear on your map. that will take you to the shivering isles.

After you DL I think you have to wait 24 hrs in game to get a journal update. The closest city to the door is Bravil. The actual door is in the middle of the bay, and you will have to make you way to an island just outside of Bravil.
