"Best FPS of all time? Well, almost"

This game is amazing. I'll go ahead and get it out of the way. The game has more action going on in the 1st level than 97% of all games have in them all the way thru 'em. The game is loaded with things going on. It's busy and you'd think when it's this busy things would tend to slow down and stutter under the pressure... Well, not the case here.

The game is lag free on and off line. That's a plus.

The levels are laid out standard FPS, for the most part... however, what sets it apart from most FPS is that this game's action and goings on, make the levels seem alive. Weired things flying in the sky. Gigantic robots stalking the streets in movie like quality at times. Mutant beast boxing you into a box car as he blast it with a cannon that'll kill ya in 1 hit.

The game has it all. It's intense at almost every other turn and it never lets up. Just how much can the PS3 handle? Well, about 200 onscreen leapers, not to mention an entire squad of your own guys.. All at once.

The games biggest downfall is its graphics. Although they are good, they're not breath taking and they clearly don't show me or anyone else why they just spent 600 bucks to play it. The textures are very stale. Very ugly and muddy. The ground is in need of bump mapping. The game just isn't all that next-gen looking. Is that a big draw back? Well, it is when you look into your wallet and see 600 missing because of it.

It isn't ugly by no means... but neither was BLACK, KILLZONE, HALO, HALO2 and COLD WINTER. What does that say? Well, it basically says the game should look better on this hardware.

The story is a long one for a FPS. You get your money back in this respect... It's probably not gonna be beat in a night or two or three... Well, if you have a life and play moderately anyways. Me, I do... So it took me about a week. 14 hours all in all. The game is good about rewarding you with extras aswell...

Skill points will gain you weapons and so forth and so on and there is always things to find in the game that aren't laid out. Pistols and such. The story unfolds thru items you find aswell as in game cut scenes. The story, by the way, is really, really, really, really good.

Online the game shines. I've never had this much fun playing an online game. That much is true. The game is expansive online and it's tough. A lot of great players out there already. No lag to be found and no bugs on my end. It can be a little tasking when you have a team that doesn't wanna work with you, but what can ya do???

So all in all -

Gameplay - 9 it does everything a FPS should, but nothing to really innovate so if you like FPS you should love this one.

Graphics - 7 it doesn't really look balls out next gen to me. Looks good, but not like it should.

Story - 10 the game is just really, really engrossing to me. Awesome story line in this one and the build up to what could be with the series has me glued.

Replay - 9 you'll want to if you want the even cooler weapons in the game and to learn what you didn't of the story the 1st time thru, should you miss out on those documents scattered about.
