Resistance: Fall of Man

The Playstation 3's starring launch title Resistance: Fall Of Man hits the nail right on the head. The mix of HD Graphics, Gameplay, and fun-factor bring this baby to a 9.

Story:

R:FOM is WW2 shooter. Without WW2......or Nazis...Basically it's a alternate history where WW2 never happens because of some sort of Virus unleashed in Russia which turns people into aliens. Asia and Europe are all gone and destroyed except for Great Britain which is the battlefield of this fight.

Graphics:

I would give these a 9/10. They are simply awesome especially for a launch title. The explosions from grenades and bullets are simply amazing to watch. Especially the Chimeran weapons.The only thing I had a problem with was the lack of a good zoom-in feature. The gun just pops up to your head.

Gameplay:

Automatic 10/10. This game shines incredibly strong in its gameplay. At first it seems like a bland shooter but then it all changes when you experience your new toys and new enemies. As new enemies and weapons appear you start to develop strategies for all of the different enemies. Went you fight these Elite soldiers called Steel-Heads I used the sniper rifle and slowed down time to give each of em a headshot. The weapons are extraordinary. From shield-grenades to guns that shoot through walls everything you could imagine is in here. There's a auto turret gun, shields, spike grenades, slo-mo sniper rifle, auto aim weapon, grenade launcher, and even a blob-thrower. Also, the thing that will keep you addicted is its online multiplayer. (It has offline also for up to four people). You have a stat card with medals, ribbons, and all of your kills and deaths with all types of weapons. You also have a rank. Your rank is gained by getting experience from playing ranked games. You can also play unranked and even start parties to meet up with a friend.

Replay Value:

Definitely a 9/10. You can pick up different "secret" things like intel and after your first playthrough acquiring all of the secret weapons. Also, there are these little challenges you can do such as killing three chimera with a hedgehog grenade. These are campaign "medals" in a way. Also, online will keep you busy for weeks maybe months till you get bored. It is just so fun with the massive battles of up to 40 people playing as both Human and Chimera races.

Hmmm? Buy or rent? I would say buy because of the online mainly and the fact that this is the best game on the Playstation 3 right now.
