Never been a big fan of racing games? Struggle to get anywhere but last on the easiest setting? Lose to your little sister in every race?
Well this game is different, Welcome to Motorstorm.

That doesn't mean that this game is easy. It is accessible to the beginner and by the time the challenge really comes you'll be ready for it.

Gameplay 8/10
There are 7 vehicle types ranging from bikes to trucks and the developers have got the handling of each of them spot on. The gameplay is fast, exciting and not too punishing near the beginning but gets faster and can be frustrating at times but these times are highly outweighed by those “Oh my God! I can‘t believe that just happened!” moments. You do tend to lean towards one particular vehicle but that won't prevent you from doing well with the others. But man is this game fun

Multiplayer 6/10
This game has one of the best online multiplayer services I have ever seen. With a wireless connection this game is completely lag free and the graphics are not a pixel different to what's in the game. Games are easily joined or created and a buddy list available as of 24th March 2007. What prevents a perfect ten in this category is the lack of offline multiplayer which is a shame as this game would have been great playing in a room with your friends laughing at each other as you throw them off cliffs. This feature is likely to become available soon as a download on the play station store but that is a different story.

Graphics 10/10
This game is definitely the first game you should show to your family and friends and display in shops. The textures are great and the riders costumes are excellent. The tracks look like they were lifted out of real life and the grass and plants actually look 3D unlike most games which just show green lines. All in all this game is definitely a system showpiece.

Lifespan 8/10
With 8 tracks and 21 “tickets” each consisting of 1-4 races and no other offline modes other than the main story this game may seem short but the online options are deep and offer so much variation that it can keep you playing for months. A possibility for new modes, vehicles and tracks to become available via the playstation store is some comfort to this. This I cannot guarantee so don't get your hopes up.

Closng Comments
Motorstorm is a wonderful, fun and involving game although short and may prove a disappointment to those who don't have broadband. It has been technically sculpted to near perfection and if the new content does come then this game will soon deserve a perfect 10/10.
