"Time to tear them a new one!"

In my opinion this game is a mix between two games. It has Dooms evilness and F.E.A.R.s gun fights and it's creepiest. (I know Doom 3 has it a lot too but it was mostly just a monster jumping out of a shadow for the scare facto) now lets get on with the game!

Story: 10/10
You are a 21 year old mobster named Jackie Estacado who was supposed to pick up cash from a drop point, until your uncle Pauli decides to ambush you. This when you die but are resurrected by “The Darkness” that's when the fun begins as you slaughter then devour the harts of every one around you. I would say more but I don't want to ruin the rest of the story for any one.

Gameplay: 8/10
As the game goes on, your “powers” become stronger and much more destructive. Jackie can impale your enemies with your demon arm, then throw them across the place then eat their harts. Then you could finish off the rest by creating a black hole to suck the life out of every one! A.I is pretty good, the mobsters no when they're in trouble by just running away from you, or just trying to defend them selves from Darklings. If you ever play The Punisher and enjoyed slaying every one with brute force then this is for you.

Graphics: 9/10
The atmosphere in New York is so grand in detail with the walls and graffiti and the bins and the posters and so on. Since the game takes place at night the mood of trouble and evilness is every where. However, like many multi-platform games, this version suffers from washed out colors, less anti-aliasing, and frame rate issues that can drive you insane. I also love the fact it isn't like a typical game (say Gears of War) when the color theme is GRAY or BROWN, its dark but not black black black. Sorry but I hate the color that makes me think I'm watching TV in the 50's.

Sound: 8/10
The voicing of the people in the sub ways are kind of like TES: Oblivion as in most of the people share the same voicing. Also only a few have something else to say then “hey how you doing?” But the main characters like you and jenny (your girl friend) and Uncle Pauli have very good voices and not just some amateur picked up off the streets. The guns aren't as good as I thought they would sound. But on a better note “The Darkness” voice will keep you entertained with its babbling about killing people.

Closing:
Despite the differences for PS3 and the 360, don't let fan boys tell you the versions are better. Either version of the game is brilliant just as long as you ignore the online. (Obvious reasons) So with out further ado, buy the game or download a demo from the PSN store!
