Dynasty Warriors 6

"Can you say "bye bye uniqueness"? And "hello awesomness"?Odd combo I know"
Ok, first things first congratulations to Koei and W-Omega Force on getting their first dynasty warriors game on PS3 YAY!!! Anyway.......
The game is pretty much the same, (when I say same I mean same concept) as the other DW games. You fight tons and tons of enemies and either side wins and yotta yotta yotta. In DW 1-5 I could easily say your allied AI was HORRIBLE and your enemies were totally smart.......But! In DW6 the AI is amazingly smart on both sides that even regular soldiers have a big part in a battle! Also, the graphics are simply amazing! this new game introduced the Renbu Attack system. This introduced a whole new level of combos and combat. You started out with short and bad combos (renbu rank 1), but as you kept fighting enemies your renbu rank would go up and your combos would become better and longer. There's also a whole new way to customize your character in this game. No more items to equip and things like that. Your weapons don't have stats either, but now they get special effects and elemental properties!! Also you can get a full roster of horses that are upgradeable in 4 different stats. Every single map has been totally remade and in my opinion made much more fun! Also several new maps have been added to the game including several castle sieges! There's a whole new way to take down enemy castles in DW6 than the other DW games. You and your armies need to kill defense captains which are protecting spots to build catapults and rams. After the captains are dead your engineers run over and start making catapults or rams and siege ladders. The rams are targeted most by your enemies defense so you need to climb a ladder and wipe out the enemy ballistas and archers on the walls of the castle. In DW6 taking enemy bases rose to a whole new level of brilliance!!! Say theres a walkable mountain path and along that path there's an enemy base down to the side. You can take your horse and hop down into it to totally confuse and weaken the enemies inside! Isn't that awesome? Also you can't just take a base by smacking down on a guard captain, well you can but bases have durability now. Killing troops, corporals, and officers in a base reduce its durability, bur sometimes if you see one you can kill a guard captain in a base to instantly take it! Base durability isn't constant either. Base durability depending on its size can range from 16-500+! Hey, remember Musou rage? They cut that out and added a whole new way to destroy your enemy with an awesome special attack. Rarely enemies will drop tomes that enable you to use your characters special attack. The different special attacks range from super speed and mobile damage to arrow volleys that surround you! Each and every special attack is upgraded through a characters skill tree. Every character has their own skill tree too! By leveling up you can put points in your skill tree to upgrade your char in many ways! (AWESOME!!)
That was pretty much in a nutshell the positive changes from DW5 to DW6 now for the negatives.....
I'm sorry to say several characters have been cut out of the game (7 I believe)! And now nearly EVERY character has a halberd/spear based weapon. Zhang he, Taishi Ci, Cao Ren, Guan Ping the list goes on and on!!! also some characters got newer and cooler weapons like Sima Yi ( claws FTW!) This is more of an opinion whether it be negative or positive, generals in this game besides hyper mode ones and commanders are insanely weak! A person with a decently god weapon can easily 1 hit officers on normal difficulty, and for some odd reason, at Hu Lao Gate Lu Bu does insane damage, but can be killed in 10 or less regular hits easily! I don't know about you, but I like games to challenge me. As for the reason I believe may have caused most characters to have spear/halberd type weapons is because of the Renbu attack system and there are four Renbu ranks which would mean 4 different combos for all those unique weapons and it would probably have gotten out of hand, maybe in a later DW game since the combos are already made for spear/halberd weapons they could focus on restoring to unique weapons we've come to know and love.
Overall, I think the game is totally worth $50-$60 if your willing to pull through the negatives of the game. Also this game will probably never cease to be fun, at least until DW7 (if any) or DW6 empires comes out. If you have an XBOX360 or a PS3 put this game on your list of games to buy, I like it and though it dissapointed me it's still a very good game to buy.
Replay Value: High ( good to play for maybe a year or so until it's boring)
PARENTS READ THIS!!!!
If any parents are thinking about buying this game and happen to stumble upon my review:
The game has no blood from which I can see. This game is only rated T for violence and YES there's tons of violence. I'm pretty sure I heard some not so kid friendly language in this game though I don't want to soil my review by saying ANY foul words. Anyway, consider maybe another choice instead of buying this game for an 8 year old next christmas.
