Army of Two
Review by Left_Hand_Man
"Fun at first, but gets old fast...(Slight Spoilers)"
Army of two puts a spin on the classic single player game, most notable the fact that you must use co-operative tactics in order to complete objectives and earn cash. The game follows mercenaries Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios. Your job is to finish the job, no matter what.
Gameplay:(7/10) The Gameplay is great, it is very refreshing to play with two people instead of the one man super army. The game does not take long to learn, about 10 minutes. (The time of the mandatory tutorial). The two man strategies are implemented well, and the object of the aggro meter is an awesome tool.
Story: (6/10)Nothing special, you discover corruption in your employer and must work to unravel the conspiracy between Private Military Companies and The U.S. Government. Pretty generic story, but entertaining.
Graphics/Sound: (9/10) This is where the game shines. The character models are greatly detailed, even the enemies. The environments are beautifully colored and textured, with few mistakes. Whether you are firing a gun or smashing an enemy in the head the sound is done perfectly. Again, this is probably the best aspect of the game.
Play Time: (3/10)The main story lasts about 4 hours if you are good at games such as these. After the first time there is no real reason to play through again, unless you want to have fun with a friend or unlock all weapons. The online could be playable forever.
Online:(4/10) The online feels that it was put together in about 5 hours. The idea is good. Use two man strategies to complete objectives, ranging from rescuing a hostage or assassinating a terrorist leader. This is where the game could have been good. Right now there is a lot of lag and very few people stick together. The objectives get old fast, each game they are the same objective repeating over and over again. Another big disappointment was the fact that the weapons customization was removed, instead you have to buy pre-built weapons bundles. The four maps are small and do get repetitive fast. Another problem is that the game shows you where the enemies are. The lag is bad, and sometimes your friends can not join games with you. Again this could have been amazing, but was a serious letdown.
Final Remarks: If you and a friend want to play together, go for it, it will make the game much more fun. If not rent it first, and see if you want to buy it. I give this game a 6/10.
