"The single best shooter i've ever played"

Introduction

When Call Of Duty 3 was release, it ended up to be a flop. The guys at Infinity Ward already realized that gamers had become sick of the million bland, statle, and unoriginal WWII shooters that were released each year. They then created a modern day shooter that is a chilling representation that is all too close to the world that we live in today. This game couldn't have captured the feeling that war is hell any better, with some effort actually put into single player this time around.

Single Player 9/10
This is where the game shines it's most. In one of the most memorable shooter campaigns ever, You play as 'Soap' McTavish of the British Special Air Service, and United States Marine Corps Sgt. Paul Jackson. The plot is fairly simple. Two evil dictators, Saudi Arabian Khaled Al-Asad and Russian Imran Zakayev., have created hell on earth as Al-Asad creates a distraction war in his country to shy away from Zakayev's real goal of returning Russia to it's former communist status. And he just happeneds to have 15,000 nukes under his belt. You fight on the battlefields of cold Russian lands and in the blazing heat of Saudi Arabia to stop both of them before the world plunges into all out nuclear chaos. Just another day at the office. Right? Huge plot twist's and massive character development keep you on your feet itching for more. It is a bit short, but sweet nevertheless.

Graphics 8/10

The game really captures the feeling of war here. Buildings and forests are beautifully detailed, and weapons feel as if you were really seeing them for real. Not the best graphics, but they still are great

Sound 10/10

The sound is booming if you have a 7.1 or 5.1 surround speaker system. The BOOM! or airstrikes and helicopter miniguns is deafening. Guns sound as if they got them from firing real weapons.

Multiplayer 11/10

You think Halo 3 did multiplayer right? Think again! COD4 sets the new standard for an Online FPS. Once you reach Level 4 in multiplayer, you have the ability to create a class with the weapon of your choice, and the ability to unlock new weapons and attatchments for them. Special enhancements called perks, give you special abilities like extra bullet damage and the ability to sprint longer. Weapons are perfectly balanced. Maps are connected directly to areas you explore in single player. And it gets better, Infinity Ward recently released a pack of 4 new maps on XB360 and should be available shortly on PS3. Once you reach level 55, the maximum level, you unlock "Prestige' mode, which gives you the option to go back to level one and wipes stuff like Perks and Challenges, pretty much everything except stats, and you get a shiny medal by your name that gives you bragging rights, but nothing else. You can do this up to ten times. I could not even explain all the other stuff that you can do!

Conclusion

Call Of Duty 4:Modern Warfare is pretty much the best done FPS this gen. It is a massively refreshing break from WWII shooters, which have become stale over the past few years.
