"I felt cheated!"

Hi and thank you for spending few minutes to read my review.

Hacking and slashing enemies with fantastic combos is something that Devil May Cry (DMC) fans would be proud of. Since the release of DMC1 until DMC3 in PS2 only the second installment was considered as a major disappointment to the gamers especially me. With the next generation gaming console (PS3), Capcom did give us DMC4. A game that I believed to be more superior compared to the previous installments, yet I was wrong.

Story: 8/10
A very decent story for a hack and slashing game. Personally, I like the story even better compared to DMC3 in PS2. To make it short, you play as Nero in the beginning of the game and due to a misunderstanding; you assume that Dante was the bad guy. You will go in quest to find Dante. As you progresses you will eventually know the truth and your objectives will be killing Savior (the final boss) and save your precious girlfriend. You play as Dante for the second half of the game (except the final stage). Isn't it cool to be able to play as both characters. You kill the bad guy and save the girl, happy ending for everyone. The story was an epic!

The music and voice acting: 9/10
I like the music and voice acting (especially Nero). It was terrific although the music is not as good as DMC3 but still is a great music that will keep you pumped up to slash the fiends. Overall voice acting is superb!

Graphics: 9/10
I can only say that the developer did a great job by utilizing the real potential of PS3. The graphics looked realistic and with beautiful designs environment in each level, you couldn't expect more from them. You just have to see it to believe it.

Game play: 3/10
You will only see the problem during the second half of the game when you switched from Nero to Dante. As Dante, you will journey to the places where Nero has gone through in the beginning of the game and it tends to get boring. All the same background doesn't seem to motivate me to play it for the third time. Apart from that, you will face 5 major bosses but you have to fight 3 times for each boss throughout the game. I was hoping for a different boss fight when you play as Dante but that's not going to happen. The lesser demons were not that bad but still lack in varieties. You will notice the demons looked just the same but with different colors and harder to kill. Besides these flaws, the rest of the game play is just fine.

To wrap up my review, I think the developer should be more creative instead of creating a game where you have to go backtracking to where you started. Even if you are a hardcore fan of the series, I doubt you will be satisfied with this game. This could be a great game if the researchers did their research first, hopefully the fifth installment would be better than this. Devils are laughing but gamers are crying indeed...
