"War... Like You've Never Experienced It."

Call of Duty: World at War is a historic first person shooter produced by TreyArch and is available on all platforms. World at War is a World War II game unlike no other, showing the darker sides to the war, and a taste of what really happened.

== Graphics ==

The graphics for Call of Duty: World at War are incredible, in fact, maybe one of the best set of graphics for a console first person shooter released in the last year! While the graphics may not be incredibly better than Call of Duty 4, they are still noticeably better, and that's always a good thing!

== Characters ==

World at War features many non-playable characters, each with its own unique AI, so when you think you have began to outsmart the enemy, think again, because I can guarantee one wrong move and about 50 grenades land on your position!

There are also many different character models, noticeably more than any previous Call of Duty game, which shows that TreyArch really wanted to give a sense of variety here.

== Game play ==

The game play for Call of Duty: World at War is as you would expect in any Call of Duty game. If you have played any previous Call of Duty, then you know what to expect here.

You play as American solider Pvt. Miller and Soviet soldier Pvt. Petrenko, each with their squad attempting to liberate Berlin (Soviets) and Okinawa and Pelielu (US Soldiers).

Each set of enemies gives you a different challenge when in combat. For example the Germans's have pretty much unlimited Grenades, and the Japanese seem to bum rush you hoping for the best… and they usually succeed in killing you if you are low on health, so you have really got to be careful!

World at War also offers an incredible online community, with up to 18 players in multiple game modes such as your standard Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and many – many more.

One thing World at War has, which no previous Call of Duty has had is the online and offline splitscreen co-op game modes, which allows up to 4 players to play the campaign missions together, and to even play a brand new Zombie game mode. This is a very nice addition, as it emphasises teamwork very much throughout all of the co-op modes.

== Sound ==

The sounds and music in Call of Duty just keep getting better, and this is no exception. The voice acting is done extremely well, and you can here the fire burning and the bullets fly past your head.

== Overall ==

Overall, World at War is a nice addition to the Call of Duty franchise. It has an approximate 10 hour long story campaign, and an indefinite play time for online, which is very addicting when you get properly into it. The second world war may be used a lot in first person shooters, but TreyArch hit the spot with this game.

I give Call of Duty: World at War an 8/10, it is a very good World War II shooter, and a definite improvement over TreyArch's previous attempt.

But, I guess if you really do dislike World War II shooters, then give this a miss.
