Seven game series
Just before the end of the season, enter a 7 game playoff. You will now have the option to continue the playoff. When the season ends, it will overwrite the old playoff but keep the seven game format.

Super Players
When creating a new character, hold down all the shoulder buttons (L1, L2, R1, R2) and set each stat to 40. A chime will sound if done correctly, and you are now free to max out every attribute.
