NOTES FOR READERS:
*************************************************************************
Welcome to my complete walkthrough for Breath of Fire IV. Before reading
on, please take a few seconds on the following notes:
1. I DO NOT make money writing this guide and I DO NOT expect anyone to
make money out of my guide either. Please do your own work if you want
to make money.
2. You can send me email if you have questions about the game or if you
wish to contribute to this guide. However, I cannot promise to reply
to all emails that are sent to me. I do not make money writing
strategy guides for games and I do have a busy real life somewhere
else. Please make sure you have read this guide throughoutly before
sending me questions. Please quote the name of the game as the subject
of your email.
3. I DO NOT work for the website(s) where you can find this guide. Please
DO NOT write to me if you are having problems with these sites.
4. The most updated version of this guide is always posted to GameFAQs.
5. I have received offensive emails from some readers. These kinds of
behaviour will not be tolerated. In the future, all rude emails will
be reported promptly to the webmasters of the appropriate email
service providers.
6. This guide is written for the original Japanese version that was
released in Japan on 27 April 2000. I have tried my best to translate
names to English, but it may still be wrong. In any case, it will be
different to the localised version. Please DO NOT send me email about
any translation errors unless it is very serious. (When I say serious,
it means the ones that affect the plot.) I shall make the final
translation when my local version is available. (Please note: I live
in the UK, not the USA.)
7. I assume readers have read the manual supplied with the game and is at
least familiar with the controls. So, I have not included a section
for basic controls in this guide.
8. Finally, this guide contains SPOILER. Please DO NOT read on unless you
are prepared.

INTRODUCTION:
*************************************************************************
Breath of Fire IV is a Japanese styled console RPG developed and
published by Capcom of Japan. As the name has suggested, it is the fourth
instalment of the popular Breath of Fire series. I have always been a fan
of the series - and the hero Ryu and the heroine Nina are always on top
of my own "favourite characters list". Breath of Fire IV is a large
development, not in terms of memory, but in terms of game-play and many
of the new features. The game is developed for the PlayStation. It
features a single CD-ROM disc and is compatible with the DUAL SHOCK
analogue controller. The fishing mini-game is compatible to a special
fishing controller. The game requires 1 block of memory to save.
*Note* This guide is written based on the original version of the game.
This version was released in Japan on 27 April 2000. Some of the
features may change when the game is translated. Also, I have tried my
best to translate the names. It may not be totally correct. I put [square
brackets] around names I am not too confident with. (I do not speak
Japanese, but I can understand much of the scripts based on experience of
playing Japanese titles. I also have a Japanese-English dictionary with
me most of the time for doing the translations.)*
The most updated version of this guide will always be posted to GameFAQs
(http://www.gamefaqs.com/).
In addition, I'll probably have this guide re-edited for the English
version in the future, so you don't have to ask me the same question via
email. But it will have to wait until the European version is out. (Yes,
that's where I live, so don't ask me anything about the North American
release. I do not know when this game will be released there.)
I do make mistakes. If you spot any errors in this document, please send
me an email. Any POSITIVE suggestions are also welcomed. Full credits
will be given to anyone who has contributed to any useful suggestions.
Please DO NOT send me advertisements. I NEVER read them.
(Note: I made a little mistake earlier by saying that the game was
released in April 1999, but obviously it was wrong. The error was spotted
by a nice guy from the UK. Thanks to Edward Lee (tsuwaiku@hotmail.com).)
Enjoy the game!

HINTS:
*************************************************************************
- Money, money, money... The currency unit in the Breath of Fire series
is Zenny, or simply Z.
- You can get Zenny by attacking town folks using the Personal Action of
Ryu, Master or Ursula, but your Game Point will also decrease.
- Just like Breath of Fire III, there are random ? spots on the world
map. Each of these spots contains an item. You can also fight random
enemies on these spots. You can wander around in these locations if you
want to build up your characters or when you are short of Z.
- The camera angle is annoying, huh? You can use Nina's Personal Action,
Jump to get a better scope. Alternatively, if you hold R1 while using
the directional button, you will be able to rotate the camera slightly,
like you did in Breath of Fire III.
- Use the Select button on the world map to get a better scope and to
access more shortcuts. Hold down the square button to move the cursor
faster. L1 and R1 will take you to the area closest to the cursor.
- In the Item menu, you can use the directional button to change to the
Weapon, the Armour and the "Option" menus. The same goes to the menu
for Special Ability. You can use the directional button to go to swap
between the Magic and the Skill menus.
- Ryu's Status menu shows the current / maximum HP of all the Dragon
Genes you have obtained in the game. The Status menu of the other
characters will show the game statistics including the number of
encounters, maximum hit combo, maximum damage, fishing points and your
current game points.
- Each character has the following attributes: HP, AP (Ability Point),
CP (Concentration Point), Attack (sword icon, physical attack), Defence
(shield icon, physical defence), Speed (boot icon, character speed),
and Intelligence (magic wand icon, magic attack). These attributes can
be adjusted by different equipments and also by levelling up.
Association with a Lore Master will also affect these statistics on
level up. Blue arrow stands for positive effect and red arrow stands
for negative.
- After battle, any dead characters are revived with 1 HP, but his / her
maximum HP will drop slightly. This can be cured by staying at an inn
(or anywhere with a proper bed).
- You can set up camp anywhere on the world map. Don't bother using the
inns unless you have died in battle. Use camps to rest instead.
- You can use the diary in camps and other places to save, to view /
change your characters' skill lists and to talk to your lore masters.
- Magic spells are unique to each characters, but you can change skills
around. You can modify your skill lists in camps and other save points.
A Metal will be consumed for this action.
- You learn skills either from enemies or from lore masters. If you see
an enemy skill written in blue, it means you can learn the skill from
the enemy by defending. Learning skills from lore masters require
different conditions. Check with individual lore masters for the
particular requirements. The party can only learn a particular skill
once. Learnt skills will be written in the party skill pool. You can
examine the skill pool in camps and other save points.
- The statistics of some enemies are not constant throughout a battle.
Some enemies can become more (or less) powerful depending on different
conditions. (The amount of EXP will differ depending on the power of
the enemy.) Watch out for these monsters. Their powerful forms can be
deadly dangerous.
- During battle, pressing R1 will bring up two new commands, Change and
Escape. (Change means automatic physical attacks.) You can also use
the menu button to see the statistics of the enemies.
- The colour of the screen before battle has its meaning. A green colour
means pre-emptive attack. A blue colour means normal battle. A red
colour means you are being ambushed.
- The bad statuses in this game are: Poison, Sleep, Confusion, Blindness,
Silence, Unable to fight (death) and Egg.
- A character loses HP per turn / per step if he / she is Poisoned.
Poison will not be cured automatically. Cure it with an item or by
casting a [Yakuli]-series spell.
- Sleep is cured automatically after 3 turns, after battle, or if the
character is attacked. The character cannot do anything when Asleep.
- You cannot enter command to a Confused character. Cure him / her by
using an item / spell. Confused character is also cured when he / she
is attacked or when battle ends.
- Blindness causes a drop in hit rate. Silence prevents the use of magic.
You can cure these statuses using items / spells. Alternatively, by
putting the character in the back row for 3 turns will also cure these
statuses. These statuses are cured automatically when the battle ends.
- Always try and revive a dead character, or his / her Max HP will drop
after battle.
- An Egged character will have no defence what-so-ever, but his / her
HP and AP will recover fully after 3 turns.
- Play the fishing mini-game and the Fairy's Colony mini-game every now
and then. Who knows? You may get some goodies out of these games.
- I can't think right now. Can you think of more?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*************************************************************************
CHARACTERS:
*************************************************************************
- Ryu -
As in the previous titles in the series, the hero of the game always has
the name "Ryu" (or Dragon). As in Breath of Fire III, it seems that our
hero is having an identity crisis again. It is worse this time - he has
completely forgotten his own identity, race and birthplace when Nina
found him in a desert area of the Eastern Continent in the beginning of
the game. Ryu has an artefact called "Dragon Eye" in his possession. A
prophecy says that "He who holds the Dragon Eye will rule the world and
destroy it". Who is Ryu and what is he going to do with the "Dragon Eye"?
Ryu will begin his journey with Nina to search for the answer.
As the hero of the game, Ryu is a pretty good all rounder. He is both a
strong fighter and a good magic user. He has high HP as well as an
adequate amount of AP, so you can give him whatever skills you like. Ryu
has the Fire element and so he will take less damage from Fire-based
abilities, but will also take more damage from Water-based abilities.
Ryu has a high Learning rate as well, so it is good to use him to learn
skills from enemies.
Ryu can learn the ability to transform into dragons during battles. As
dragons, he will be able to cast special magic using the language of the
dragon. Later in the game, he can also summon various dragons to his aid.
His Personal Action on field map is "Slash", useful for hunting and for
cutting through obstacles.
- Fou-lu -
Fou-lu is the founder and the first Emperor of the Empire in the Western
Continent. His superficial strength allowed him to conquer and unite all
of the Western Continent and he found the Empire several generations ago.
In a self-proclaimed prophecy, it was told that he will be resurrected
from his grave in a few hundred years after his death. Fou-lu is revered
as god-like by most citizens in the Empire.
At the beginning of the game, he will be awakened from his grave. I don't
know about you, but the look of the emperor reminds me of Teepo in
Breath of Fire III. Fou-lou is a strong fighter and he has the power of
the dragon as well. He belongs to the Water element.
- Nina -
A Breath of Fire game is incomplete without Nina, the princess of Windia.
The people of Windia is a Winged race. This time, Nina has a short pair
of wings at her back with white / pink feathers. Windia is one of the
many nations in the Eastern Continent. These nations have formed an
alliance to fight against the powerful Empire in the Western Continent.
One year after the signing of a peace treaty, Nina's elder sister, the
princess Elina went missing. She was last seen in a frontier town. To
avoid alarming the allies and the enemy, it was decided that Nina should
go on a journey alone to search for her sister. She found Ryu instead,
while she was travelling through a desert area in the Eastern Continent.
Apparently, Ryu was completely at a lost but soon decided that he should
travel together with Nina.
As in previous titles, Nina is strong in magic. She comes with many
recovery magic abilities as well as Wind based offensive spells. Nina has
the Wind element and she has a high natural evasive rate. This 4th Nina
is so much more useful than the ones in the previous two titles. OK, she
is still quite weak on the physical side, but her HP and Def are at least
adequate. For once, her physical attacks are not completely hopeless
either. Coupled with her strong magic, high speed and high evasive rate,
she is actually one of the best characters in the game.
Her Personal Action on the field map is "Jump" - for getting a better
scope in towns / dungeons. When you put her in the back row, she would
use her Will, "Fight", every now and then. Fight heals a smallamount of
damage for all party members in the front row.
- Cray -
Remember Rei in Breath of Fire III? Cray looks just like him, only that
Cray is a much tougher warrior. The tiger-man is the chieftain of one of
the nations of the Eastern Alliance. Cray was travelling with Nina in her
search for her missing sister before they were "attacked" by a mysterious
"Dragon" while they were on board a sand ship. He will rejoin the party
later when you meet with him again. Cray is a responsible person, but he
can also become emotional at time. He has gained some merits during the
war between the Empire and the Alliance.
Fighting with a large club, Cray is strong in physical abilities. He is
the strongest fighter in the game with the best HP, Atk and Def, but his
speeed and his magic abilities are on the poor side. Cray belongs to the
Earth element. His magic list consists mainly of Earth element and
assistance magic. Cray has a high Counter Attack rate as well. His
Personal Action on field map is "Push", for pushing away heavy obstacles.
- Master -
Dressed inside a completely-sealed, robot-looking costume, Master will
not take his "armour" off even when he is eating / sleeping. Nobody has
seen his true face or have any knowledge about his race. Master joins
the party after leading them through the cursed area North of the town
of Chinba. Who knows what secret is hidden behind that armour?
Master has very special attack styles. Many of his skills look robotic
and mechanical. He uses special gloves for fighting. Master is strong in
physical abilities. He has high HP, Atk and Def. His AP and Int are on
the poor side at first, but they will become much better after an event.
Although Master's AP is low, his CP is very high so he will never really
run out of AP like the other characters do. Master can deliver very
strong physical attacks, but he does tend to miss a lot as well. After an
event in a game, his magical abilities will become increasingly strong.
Like Ryu, Master also has high Learning rate.
His Personal Action is Body Smash, useful for knocking down objects. When
you put him in the back row, Master will use his Will, Backup Fire, every
now and then to attack one of the enemies.
- Scias -
Scias is probably a doggie man like Bow in Breath of Fire I and II. Scias
is a mercenary soldier hired by the Eastern Alliance during the war. Now
that the war has ended, he has lost his purpose and his job. He joins Ryu
and Nina because he has nothing better to do but wandering around.
Despite his love for alcohol, Scias is actually a reliable character.
Scias is a strong fighter and a skilled swordman. He can use many double
hit weapons, so he can be very useful in a combo. Scias belongs to the
Water element, and he also has a good tendency to counter attack. He has
many magic abilities, ranging from recover spells, to water element
offensive magic and physical abilities. He also has a special magic that
allows him to "analyse" the enemy during battle.
- Ursula -
Ursula looks like a wolf-human hybrid. She is a captain in the Army of
the Western Empire. Ursula was recruited by a general for her skills in
magic. She is regarded highly by her fellows even though she does not
have noble blood in her. She was sent to the neutral areas in the Eastern
Continent in a mission to find dragons. It turned out that she found Ryu.
Ursula fights with magical guns. Many of these are all effect weapons.
She is strong in both physical and magical attacks. Ursula has the Fire
attribute. Her magic list contains many Fire element abilities as well as
abilities that inflict bad status. Her Personal Action on field map is
Shoot, very good for hunting in the Fairy hunting grounds.

WALKTHROUGH - CHAPTER ONE - HE WHO AWAKENED:
*************************************************************************
- 1.0 - Opening -
Items : Royal Sword
You would begin the game with Nina and Cray riding a sand boat across the
desert to the frontier town of Senesta in search of Nina's missing
sister, Elina. One morning, the party spotted a "dragon" coming from
nowhere in the middle of the desert. They tried their best to out-
manoeuvre the dragon, but it was much faster and the party was fored to
crash-land the sand boat on the desert.
The sand boat was damaged, but repairable. Cray decided that they would
need to obtain parts for the sand boat to repair its damage. Cray was,
however, afraid that the boat might get stolen by pirates if they left it
alone in the middle of the desert, so Nina decided that she would travel
to the nearest town on her own while Cray would remain in the crash site
to guard their vehicle. Cray would then tell Nina that the nearest town,
Sarai, was just South of this site. He would ask Nina to carry the Royal
Sword with her, a sword that belonged to the royal family of Windia.
Once you are in control of the Nina, exit the area and you will be on
the world map. Go South and you will get to a ? site. Enter by using the
OK button.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nina's Initial Statistics:
Level : 5
HP / AP / CP : 301 / 21 / 3
Atk / Def : 19 / 18
Spd / Int : 22 / 26
Weapon : Barton
Armour : Traveller's Clothes
Option : [Kachussha]
You will also begin with 3 Medicinal Herbs and a Metal in your inventory.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*************************************************************************
- 1.1 - Ryu and Nina -
Items : Gas Medicine
Enemies : Eyeball Gumi, [Kyappu], [Sand Sasori], Mage Gumi
When Nina entered the area, she would see a merchant coming out from a
large crater. He would run away trying to escape from something
invisible. When Nina tried and investigate, she would fall down the
crater herself. In front of her, she would see a dragon. Invisible first,
it revealed itself to Nina, roared and made a show of its strength before
flying off. (These dragons surely had nothing to do...) When the dragon
was gone, lying there was a rather naked young man. Being a princess,
Nina was probably not accustomed to seeing naked young man lying in the
middle of nowhere and she went all red-faced and embarrassed.
While the yound man dressed himself using what was left in the merchant's
cart, he introduced himself as Ryu. (Nina thought it sounded weird.) She
decided that Ryu must have been abondoned by the merchant, but Ryu
insisted that he had not got a single clue of his own identity or where
he was going. Being a nice lady, Nina decided to take Ryu with her and
she would let Ryu use the Royal Sword.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ryu's Initial Statistics:
Level : 1
HP / AP / CP : 230 / 6 / 3
Atk / Def : 22 / 14
Spd / Int : 4 / 7
Weapon : Royal Sword
Armour : Cotton Clothes
Option : -None-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will be back on the world map after this sequence. You can wander
back and forth on the world map to open up random ? areas. Each random
area contains a treasure, but you will also encounter enemies. It is a
good way to train up your character levels in these areas. Beware of
[Sand Sasori] and Mage Gumi though, because they are quite strong for
your level.
Continue your way and you will go into a "cliff" area. You can get a Gas
Medicine in this area. Simply make your way through the area and you will
get a short sequence. (Note: you will only encounter Eyeball Gumi and
[Kyappu] in this area.)
Apparently, the cliffs were pretty unstable. Ryu had to jump across some
gaps. Nina would ask whether Ryu was afraid of height. She would explain
to Ryu that the people in Windia had wings and so they did not have any
problem with height. While she was saying that, the rock gave way and she
fell. Our nice guy, the hero, Ryu would try and jump down to "rescue" our
lovely little princess, but discovered that she was actually hovering
down the side of the cliff. He ended up landing badly himself, but was
otherwise unhurt. Since it was getting dark, the two decided to get some
rest in a nearby cave.
Make your way to the cave and you will get another short sequence. The
game will then switch to the other side of the world.
*************************************************************************
- 1.2 - Awakening of Emperor Fou-lu -
Items : Ambrosia
Enemies : [Jealous]
Boss : [Kamu]
The game will take you to the Emperor's Tomb. This is the resting place
of the first emperor of the Western Empire.
The dead Emperor Fou-lou had awaken. He emerged from his tomb with his
guardian. After a short sequence, the horse-dragon-like guardian would
agree to guard the emperor's tomb while Fou-lou would go and explore his
new world.
You will be in control of Fou-lou. Before exiting the area, you can grab
an Ambrosia from a chest on the other side of the tomb. Exit the area.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fou-lou's Initial Statistics:
Level : 27
HP / AP / CP : 3381 / 364 / 27
Atk / Def : 351 / 336
Spd / Int : 213 / 280
Weapon : Emperor's Sword
Armour : Emperor's Armour
Option : Dragon's Tear
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will be inside a bushy area. Work your way through. You can jump
across some places if the game shows an orange arrow. Half way across,
you will see two soldiers on duty. Note: If Ryu have learnt some skills,
these skills will be in Fou-lou's pool as well.
They said that they had seen a dragon. Fou-lou would than show them his
power. He morphed into a dragon and attacked the soldiers, leaving only
a small crater on the ground. On the other side of the world, Ryu would
be awaken from that. He would sense this dragon power being unleashed.
Once you are in control, Fou-lou will now be able to use Trans. He can
now morph into the Spiritual Dragon. Exit to the world map and enter the
next ? area. Continue your way and you will meet up with Yom.
Apparently, Yom's mission as an Empire General was not to welcome the
awakening of the founder of the Empire. Instead, Yom was sent to put
Fou-lou back to his grave. He would then summon a monster to attack.
-> Boss: [Kamu]
This is the first boss fight of the game, but it is actually quite easy.
Simply have Fou-lou use Trans to morph into the Spirtual Dragon. Attack
the boss with your Breath weapon and you should be able to kill the boss
in a few rounds.
Fou-lou would feel very tired after the fight. Perhaps he was in his
grave for too long? Yom would try to attack again, but Fou-lou managed
to escape. Yom then ordered the archers to fire flaming arrows at the
emperor.
Once you are back in control, simply work your way through the flaming
maze until you reach a suspension bridge where you will get another
sequence.
Yom would have Fou-lou trapped there. Yom would tell that Fou-lou was
of the Water Element, and so they had deliberately used fire to attack
and trap him. Yom attacked Fou-lou again and he would fall down from
the bridge. Yom then ordered his soldiers to search for the body.

- 1.3 - Town of Sarai -
Items : 40 Z, Power Food, (Treasure Upgrade)
Inn : 30 Z
W. Shop : [Tonerico Staff], Bandana, Skin Armour, [Hachigane],
[Seirei Stone]
I. Shop : Medicinal Herb, Poison Clear, Eye Medicine, Gas Medicine,
Wooden Rod, Frog-Jr, Straight
F. Spot : Riverside 1
The screen will then go back to Ryu and Nina. Make your way up the cliff
and exit the area. Back to the world map, continue your way to the South.
Sarai is located at the Southwestern side of the continent. If you go
into a random ? area before heading to Sarai, you should be able to get
into an area with a signpost at the centre. It tells you of a new fishing
spot to the Southeast.
Once in Sarai, Nina would ask to split up so that both of you could go
gather information about sand boat part separately.
Once you are back in control, you can explore the town. There is an inn
on the right of the entrance. The kids next to the entrance will give you
a game tutorial if you talk to them. The Manillo fish merchants in front
of the entrance will sell you items and weapons. If you attack town folks
using Ryu's Personal Action, Slash, they may occasionally drop you some
money. (I think it works only once though.)
Go to the other side of the town (where Nina went to). There is a pub
there. You can get the first "Treasure" from a frog man on one side if
you have the money (158 Z). Talk to the person next to the bar. He would
give you information in exchange for good food and good drink. Play the
mini-game. The idea of this game is to keep buying the guy food and drink
until the central red bar (Satifactory level) is filled - before the top
(Full level) and the bottom (Drunk level) bars are full. Just give him
food and drink alternatively and you will soon fill up the satisfactory
level. He would then tell you to go talk to the information guy in front
of the inn.
Exit the pub and Nina will rejoin Ryu. Go to the person in front of the
inn. Choose the first option to ask for a way to obtain the sand boat
part. If you don't have enough money, this guy will not talk to you. Go
outside and fight more monsters. If you have enough money, he will ask
you to "guess" how much do you think the information will worth. (I do
not know the lowest amount, but I managed to pay him only 61 Z.) Once he
has the money, he will tell you to go and talk to the people in the pub.
Before doing that, you will need to know a password to get to a secret
shop behind the pub. He will tell you that a merchant who travels in the
area east of the town will know the password.
So exit the town and go East. Go back and forth between the town and the
fixed ? area until you get to enter a random ? area. The merchant should
be there. Talk to him and he will tell you the password. Go back to the
pub in town and talk to the bartender. He will let you pass into the area
behind. Before doing that, you can search the wardrobe next to the
bartender for 40 Z. Enter the secret area and you will get a short
sequence with a merchant.
The merchant would tell you that during the war, sand boats were
considered weapons and therefore it is illegal for them to store parts.
They knew of another way to obtain these parts, however. Apparently,
parts of broken sand boats had been dumped in a site South of the town.
This site was known as the Valley of Sand Boats. The merchant told Nina
to go there to collect some of the junks, and he would help to restore
them to something useful.
If you want to go fishing before moving to the next area, you can buy a
wooden rod and some lures from the Manillo fish merchant. Despite the
fact that you may lose a lure or two, fishing is actually a good way to
build up your Z early in the game. (You probably don't want to increase
your levels too much before you begin to associate with the lore
masters.) Sell some of your fishes when you have built up a good stock.
(See Appendix C for more details on Fishing.) When you are ready, travel
South from Sarai to the Valley of Sand Boat.
*************************************************************************
- 1.4 - Valley of Sand Boat -
Items : Liquid Drop x 8, 200 Z, [Hachigane], Sand Boat Junk Part
Enemies : Eyeball Gumi, [Kyappu], [Sand Sasori], Mage Gumi
Enter the Valley of Sand Boat. The area is not too big, nor is it
difficult. A chest behind a tent contains 8 Liquid Drops. Use the wheel
of the broken boat to open up ways below. Turn it to the right to get to
the chest that contains 200 Z. Turn it to the left to proceed. Go into
another broken boat. Go up the ladder and get to a chest that contains a
[Hachigane]. Go back down and examine the cylindrical device to wind down
the platform outside. Use the platform to go up. You will reach another
entrance. Inside is an old man with a dog. He tells you that you can dig
up junks on the other side, but you will have to borrow digging tools
from him for 25 Z. These tools break easily and so you will need some
help for the correct position. You can borrow his dog as well, but it
will cost you another 25 Z. The sand boat junk part is at the centre of
the area (where the dog will bark twice). You can dig again if you have
the money. If you are lucky, you may get a few goodies out of the area. I
managed to get a Metal and a [Tonerico Staff].
When you are done, exit the area. Back on the world map, you should set
up camp and save before heading back to Sarai. Go back to the pub in
Sarai and you will get a sequence.
A captain in the Empire army was beating a merchant in the pub. Seeing
this, our lovely princess challenged him, telling him that the war has
ended and he should not be there beating up civilians. This captain,
Rasso, kindly informed our princess that the war had never ended. It was
only a ceasefire. While Nina was trying to press further, the captain saw
her wings at her back and knew that she was from Windia. He said a few
hasty words and revealed that he knew something about Elina, Nina's
missing sister. Perhaps she was captured by the Empire? The captain would
then summon a monster to capture Nina... or kill her.
-> Boss: [Jo]
This is not an easy fight, because you will be fighting with Nina alone,
but it is not very tough either. Just keep attacking with physical or
magical attacks. You can cast Barrier to reduce magical damage if you
want. Heal using Li-life if you are low on HP. This guy uses [Bamu], a
first rank fire spell. You can learn the skill from him if you have not
already learnt it from Mage Gumi. The boss drops a Metal when you managed
to kill him.
Rasso was not too happy to see this situation and he would try to capture
Nina by himself. Ryu would jump down to save the day, but by doing so he
broke the Royal Sword. Together, they escaped town before Rasso could
recover himself.
The Royal Sword is now the Broken Royal Sword. (It is still usable, but
its attack power is much reduced.) On the world map, head East to the
T-Junction to the previously ? area. It will become an ! area now. Enter
the area and you will get another sequence.
Empire soldiers were patrolling everywhere and so the party would not be
able to travel directly back to the crash site of the sand boat. What
could they do? Luckily, they saw a Sarai merchant going past the area. He
informed the party that they could go round the desert to Chinba where
they could go through and head back to the crash site.
Exit the area for now. You will no longer be able to get back to Sarai.
Go North and you will reach Chinba.
*************************************************************************
- 1.5 - Town of Chinba -
Items : Diamond Bracelet, Universal Medicine x 2
Inn : -Free-
Shop : Boy Knife, [Tonerico Staff], Skin Armour, [Hachigane],
Medicinal Herb, Antidote, Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine
Chinba looks like a strange town. There are too many ravens around. You
can explore the town first. The mechanical room by the entrance has a
chest the contains a Diamond Bracelet. Go to the inn just above the
entrance. You can rest for free. The wardrobe there contains 2 Universal
Medicines. The Manillo merchant there will sell you stuffs. You will
probably have to upgrade Ryu's weapon here. Talk to the old man at the
Southeastern corner of the town and you will get a sequence.
Apparently, this town was cursed. Nobody can travel through to the North
of the town because the whole area was cursed and dangerously packed with
monsters. While you were talking, you would see a team of people coming
back into town from the gate to the cursed North. So, there would be a
way to go through afterall.
Go talk to the folks in the large house in the Northeastern side of town.
The guy next to the fireplace will give you two options. Choose the 2nd
option twice to stay and talk to him. You will get a sequence where you
would tell him your story. But it seemed that he would not allow you to
go to the North on your own because it would be too dangerous for you to
wander in that area.
Exit town and come back. Talk to the same guy again who is now standing
in front of his house. You will get another sequence. While you were
talking, a strange looking person would come out from the cursed area.
This guy was all dressed in armour. Apparently, the armour could protect
him from the curse. This was Master. He would agree to take you through
the cursed area to the North. He would join the party.
You can enter the North Gate once you have Master in your party. So head
there you are done.

*************************************************************************
- 1.6 - Cursed Town -
Items : 300 Z, Fire Jade, Skin Waistcoat
Enemies : Violent Zombie, Deep Purple, [Buchi Ghost], Skull Fish (Boss)
Work your way through the maze through the roofs of the cursed houses.
You can get to a chest to the West for 300 Z. Work your way to the North
and you will enter a new area with a sequence.
Apparently, the lower floor of this area was cursed, and since Master was
protected, he could go down with no problem. The puzzles here would be to
use the two switches in the area simultaneously to drain away the fog.
Master would split the party. Ryu and Nina would go round to the upper
switch while Master would handle the lower switch.
Use the Select button to switch "party". It is one of these two ways
pulley and crate puzzle. Simply have one party standing on one of the
crate or else so that you can open up new ways for the other party.
(Also, you should bear in mind that you can jump across roofs when you
see a little orange arrow on the floor.) You can have Master go down and
get a Fire Jade in a chest in the area. Ryu and Nina can also go back to
the previous screen to get a Skin Waistcoat. Once you have the puzzles
solved, you will get a short sequence where the cursed fog would got
drained away. Now you can exit the area and proceed.
Continue your way and you will get another sequence where your party
would hear a strange cry underneath. Did you see something there? You
will get more of these sequences until you get to a bridge. A giant fish
monster will be chasing you. It would attack and break the bridge. Both
Nina and Master would run off pretty quickly. (You will have to press
the OK button continuously to run.) Once Ryu had escaped to relative
safety, your party would have to fight this monster.
-> Boss: Skull Fish
This boss can hit quite hard so you should have Ryu morph into the Aura
Dragon. Nina should heal anyone who is low on HP. Here, you can begin to
try out combos. I managed to get a few 5-hit combos here before the boss
died. It is not a very tough fight if you are careful. You get an
Antidote and a Fish's Head when you beat the boss.
Exit the area and you will get yet another sequence. Nina would thank
Master for showing them the way, but Master would decide to travel with
the party. So, Master would join the party officially from this point.
Back on the world map, you can now go back to the crash site of the sand
boat to meet up with Cray.
*************************************************************************
- 1.7 - Dragon Eye Dream -
Items : Metal
Enemies : Living Armour, [Tsuetsuebae]
Enter the crash site and you will get a sequence again. Nina would be in
tears when she saw Cray. She would introduce Ryu and Master. The party
then set up camp so they could relate their stories. They would then
decided to go to sleep... and into a dream. You are inside a strange area
inside some castle. You will have Ryu, Nina and Cray in the party. Use
the diary to rest and save if you need.

Atk / Def : 40 / 31
Spd / Int : 5 / 9
Weapon : Log
Armour : Skin Clothes
Option : [Hachigane]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The area is quite small. Simply make your way to the stairs to go up. On
your way is a wardrobe that contains a Metal. You will end up in a throne
room of some sort where you will get a sequence. Apparently, this place
was where Elina was held. Someone would come in and you would have to
hide behind a curtain. When you are back in control, walk behind the
curtain and the party would be back in reality. Cray would discuss the
dream with Nina in the morning, while Ryu was still asleep. Master would
suggest that the dream might have been caused by the magic of Ryu's
Dragon Eye. (But why would Master know all these?)
*************************************************************************
- 1.8 - Clock Valley -
Items : Deep Diver x 1
Lore Master : Ralph
Enemies : Balloon Gumi, [Sand Sasori], [Red Kyappu], Bandit
In any case, the party decided to continue their way. Back on the world
map, a new way would open up west of Chinba. There are new monsters in
the random areas here. Make your way West to the Clock Valley.
The Lore Master Ralph is here. If you have been playing around with
combos, you should be able to learn the first skill from him. A chest in
the area contains a Deep Diver.
There is not much to do here, so head back to the world map and continue
West to the Dam.
*************************************************************************
- 1.9 - The Mud Dragon -
Items : Short Sword, Vigor Jade x 2, Swallow's Nest x 2
Enemies : Eyeball Gumi, Mage Gumi, Balloon Gumi, [Kyappu], [Red Kyappu]
Enter the Dam area, and you will get a sequence. The workman would tell
the party that the dam is not in use at the moment as they had spotted
a dragon in the area earlier. But in order to cross the river, the dam
had to be lowered and so your party would ask for help. The workman would
tell you to talk to their chief.
Go down and through the tunnel, you would end up in a swampy area. Talk
to the guy at the centre and he would agree to help you. You would have
to shut the watergates before you could use a lift that would lead you to
the other side.
Talk to the guy in red shorts to get the key to the watergate control
rooms. Go back to the tunnel and enter the mechanical room. Examine the
lever to shut one of the gates. You will open up a new area. Go back up
and go across. On your way, you can obtain a Short Sword from a chest at
an upper platform and 2 Vigor Jade in a chest at a lower area. Enter the
second mechanical room. Examine the lever again to get a sequence. This
mechanism did not seem to work though. A girl would come in at the right
moment. She would tell you the way to get the mechanism started. Another
mini-game here. This one is pretty easy, especially if you have an
analogue controller. Simply move your direction control anticlockwise
until an ! appear above the girl. Press the OK button and the job will be
done. You will gain access to the last area.
Before you proceed, go up past the watergate mechanism, you will find a
chest hidden behind that contains 2 Swallow's Nest. Go down and through
the tunnels and you will end up back in the swampy area. Go back to the
chief and he would give you the lever for the lift. Guess what, the
dragon chose to strike right at this moment. The chief would tell you to
escape quicly through the lift before the whole ground is being run over
by muddy water. Go to the lift. It did not seem to work the first time.
Keep pressing the OK button and you would eventually be on top of the
tower. The party could do very little now and so they decided to
continue their way. You would be back on the world map.
Continue North and you will hit an ! area. You will get a sequence. The
Mud Dragon that just attacked the Dam was there. The semi-transparent
dragon did not seem too aggressive this time. A mysterious musician was
sitting there. He would give you more riddles about dragons. Give him
100 Z and he would sing a song about dragons. He would mentioned
something like "when the dragon moves, the world follows".
You can do very little in this area. (You will be able to get the Mud
Dragon later as a summon beast, so remember this place.) Continue your
way to the village of Kyria.
*************************************************************************
- 1.10 - Village of Kyria -
Items : Fish's Head, 400 Z
Enemies : Mimic, [Hachi]
Inn : -Free-
This is a strange town. There are traps in the town everywhere. (I don't
think they are really harmful though.) The second house on the right hand
side of the entrance is an inn. You can stay there for free. Behind the
first house is a chest. When you open it, you will have to fight 3
Mimics. Go across the bridge. On the left hand side of the mayor's house
is a strange creature, [Hachi]. It will attack if you examine it. The
girl behind the house will give you game tutorials if you talk to her.
You cannot go to the mayor's house normally. Instead, you have to drop
into the holes behind the house. One of them will lead to a chest that
contains 400 Z. Go up to the other side. Use Cray to push the barrels
aside to exit. The second hole will lead you to the Mayor's house. The
wardrobe in the house contains a Fish's Head. Now, talk to the parrot
next to the door. When you are prompted for options, choose 2nd, then
2nd again, then 3rd, then 4th and then 1st. You will receive a hint to
travel to the West Forest. Exit to the world map to travel there.
*************************************************************************
- 1.11 - Missing Mayor -
Items : Wooden Fruit x ?, Apple x ?, Sharp Branch, Earth Protector,
Aura Ring, Medicinal Herb x 4
Enemies : Mushroom Id, [Kyappu], [Red Kyappu], Mage Gumi, Balloon Gumi,
Bandit
In the area, you can use Master to knock the trees. You will normally get
Wooden Fruit, but you can get Apple from the trees as well. Talk to the
person at the first screen, and he would tell you about the village mayor
who went missing during a hunt. He must still be somewhere inside the
forest, so your party would set out to look for him. Go to the second
screen. There are many traps in here. Some will lead to treasures chests
inside the underground cave. The centre chest at the lower level contains
an Aura Ring, and the one on the side contains 4 Medicinal Herbs. There
is a chest that drops on your head. It contains a Sharp Branch, a useless
piece of weapon. There is also a hidden area behind the tree next to the
exit. It contains a chest with an Earth Protector.
Make your way through and exit the area. You can jump across the
platforms in the next area. There is a Wisdom Seed in a chest as well.
Continue and exit the area. You will find the mayor in the next screen.
He would be concentrating on his hunting task. Just when you came in, his
prey escaped. But before he could blame you for disturbing him, a much
bigger version of his prey appeared and it would attack you. Time for a
boss fight.
-> Boss: [Maman]
This giant boar is not that difficult unless you have spent all your AP
while wandering through the forest. Have Ryu morph into the Aura Dragon
for this fight while the other characters should keep attacking with
linkable magic / skills. If you manage to unleash a few combos here, you
should have no problem winning the battle.
You will be back at Kyria after the fight. The mayor would thank you for
saving his life. He would let you use the secret passage leading to
Senesta. (Apparently, the secret passage was built during the war to
escape the wrath of the Empire arm force.)
The screen will then switch to the other side of the world. Fou-lou
would wake up in a strange house. Apparently, he was saved by a carpenter
who called himself Babadel. Fou-lou tried to get out of bed, but would
soon collasped again. Babadel would ask his name and he would be alarmed
when he heard Fou-lou... (Babadel was translated as "Banyan" in Breath of
Fire III. He was the first master in that game, but will become your last
lore master in this one.)
*************************************************************************
- 1.12 - Secret Route to Senesta -
Items : Water Jade, Gas Medicine, 500 Z
Enemies : [Bonapedy], [Dororo], Violent Zombie
Back to Ryu et al. Go up the slope next to the mayor's house and you will
be inside the secret route to Senesta.
As in all the previous dungeons, this one is also quite simple. In the
first area, you can get a Water Jade in a chest. Proceed to the next
area and you can get a Gas Medicine in another chest. Continue your way
and you will get to a limestone cave. There is a chest with 500 Z.
Continue again and you will end up at the bottom of a well. Go up the
ladder and you will end up in the middle of Senesta.
*************************************************************************
- 1.13 - Town of Senesta -
Items : Gas Medicine, Floating, 80 Z, Raptor Claw
Enemies : [Goki], [Ienezumi], Kan (boss)
I. Shop : Medicinal Herb, Antidote, Eye Medicine, [Flower Herb],
Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine, Wooden Rod, Floating
W. Shop : [Sukuramasakusu], Magic Stick, Iron Bat, Skin Waistcoat,
Chain Mail, [Hachigane], Glass Domino, [Seirei Stone]
As a frontier town, this place has taken its image from the war. Many of
the buildings are damaged and the whole place is surrounded by a very
high wall with watch towers here and there. It is quite confusing to move
around this town at first, but you will soon get used to it.
Ignore the building next to the well first and go to the centre of the
town. You can do some shopping here. The Manillo street merchant will
sell you items. You only have access to one of the houses in the town
centre. Inside is a save point and another fish merchant who will sell
you weapons. Now go back to the building next to well. It is an orphanage
apparently. Many of them have their parents killed during the war. The
old nun in there still remembered the day when princess Elina was here,
but she knows very little about where she has gone.
When you come out of the orphanage, you will get a short sequence of a
young nun chasing a little doggie boy. The nun would be stunned trying to
catch him. Apparently, the boy was playing hide-and-seek with her. You
will be asked to help the chase, (if that is not obvious). It is not an
easy chase, because of the camera angle, but it is not impossible. In my
experience, it is best to have Nina leading the party. Use her personal
action, Jump to get a better scope. Stay there until you see the running
boy. Come down as soon as you see him coming towards you. Run as fast as
you can while pressing the OK button continously. Once you caught him,
you will be inside the orphanage automatically for a sequence.
The older nun would thank you for helping her younger assistance, but she
did not have any idea of the location of Elina after she had disappeared.
Just then, the doggie boy Chino would come up and he would tell you that
he knew something about the missing princess but you would have to catch
him and his friends first. More hide-and-seek mini-game...
There are 8 kids in the orphanage all together. The first two are inside
the orphanage. The third one is hiding near the wall just East of the
orphanage. The fourth one is at the entrance of the town. The fifth is
hiding in a staircase at the Northwestern part of town. The sixth is at
the town centre, near the muted woman. The seventh is upstairs in the
only house you can go into at the town centre (where the save point is).
But Chino is nowhere to be found.
Go back to the orphanage and talk to everyone. You will gather the
information that Chino has gone "Underground", an abondoned and cursed
area of the town. You will need to talk to the man who guard the entrance
of "Underground". He is standing at the Southwest corner of the wall. He
won't let you through though, because he thinks it is dangerous. He would
also tell you that his mouth is a bit dry. Conveniently, there is a water
woman walking around. When she is near, talk to her, and the man will go
get water from her. Slip in while he is not looking!
Go down two flights of stairs into a corridor. There are two doors in
there. The wardrobe in the first room contains a Gas Medicine. Past the
corridor and continue down. You will end up in an abondoned shop. There
is a Floating in the wardrobe. Exit on the other side and go up a short
flight of stairs. A wardrobe there contains 80 Z. Continue and go down
two flights of stairs. You will end up in a prison area. Chino is inside
the first cell, but you cannot open the door yet. Go upstairs through the
other side. One of the cells contains a Raptor Claw and you can drop down
to Chino's from the other one. Once you talk to Chino, you will be back
in the orphanage automatically.
Now that you had won the game, Chino would have to keep his promise. It
turned out that he did not know very much, but he saw Elina talking the
some merchants and some Empire soldiers before she disappeared. One of
those merchants was Maroku, a powerful merchant in town who sells sand
boats to the Empire. Well, at least the information was better than
nothing.
Go to the town centre. One of the houses is guarded by a man called Kan.
When you ask to see Maroku, he won't let you through - unless you can
beat him in a fight...
-> Boss: Kan
This guy hits quite hard and he is quite tough. Again, it may be
necessary for Ryu to morph to Aura Dragon. Nina should heal when anyone
is low on HP. Otherwise, you should try out your combos as much as you
like. Kan is not a really difficult boss, and you will be able to drain
away his HP eventually. You will get a Special Atk Medicine for winning
the fight.
A frog guy in nice costume would turn up after the fight, who introduced
himself as Maroku. Well, at least you had the right person. It looked
like that Elina went aboard an Empire ship and went to the Empire. Very
suspicious. Cray would not believe his words, but had to give in when
Maroku told the party that they would probably need his help to look for
the missing princess. Well, before he would help, however, he would have
some errands for you. Firstly, Nina would have to stay behind "to give
him company". Then the rest of the party would have to take back some of
his goods that were stolen by some robbers.
*************************************************************************
- 1.14 - Maroku's Errands -
Enemies : [Military Koumori], [Peeking Rat], [Ienezumi], [Goki]
Lore Master : Stole
F. Spot : Lakeside 1
Talk to the townfolks to gather information. If you are a good observant,
you should notice a new guy with a big bag sitting at the town wall. He
would tell you that robbers travels in the East of the town. Head outside
to the world map and you will see a new location, Ajito, in the East.
Wander between Senesta and Ajito to get a ? area. Enter the ? area and
you will get a sequence.
A suspicious looking man with a big bag was there. Your party would
approach him. He seemed quite happy to co-operate until you mentioned the
name Maroku. Alarmed, the guy would run away from you. Your party would
decide to follow him.
You will be in Ajito automatically. Enter the area. When you bump into
the man, you will be prompted to play, guess what, another mini-game!
The idea here is to catch the man. There are barrels in the area. You can
use them to block his escape. Once you set up the blockade, approach the
man slowly while pressing the OK button continously. You will get another
sequence when you manage to catch him. (Note: if you screw up setting up
the blockade, simply exit the area and re-enter. You will be prompted to
play the mini-game again.)
It looks like that the bag the man is carrying contains his own goods. (I
think Maroku has been doing some dishonest business as well...) Anyway,
this man would introduce himself as Stole. He is indeed a thief and he
will become one of your lore masters if you give him all your money. (The
best strategy is to go back to town, spend all your money, before talking
to him again. It does not matter if you only give him 1 Z!)
Back in Senesta, go talk to Maroku and you will get another sequence. He
was less than happy to hear your "failure" and he would set you on
another errand. What a complete @$$... Again, Nina would have to stay
behind to "entertain" him.
Head back to the world map, and you will see a new route to the North.
Wander back and forth between the new location and Senesta and you will
get a ? area. At the centre of the area is a sign. Examine the sign and
exit the area. You will open up another fishing spot.
When you are done fishing, go to the new location, Sand Boat Bridge. Talk
to the guy at the North and you will have to play a mini-game in the
warehouse. The objective of the game is to move, using Cray's personal
action, all the new barrels to the southern bay and all the flasks to the
northern bay. You will have to destroy the old barrels with Master's
personal action as well. Destroy all the old barrels before you solve the
puzzle for the new barrels and the flasks. Some old barrels contain two
[Goki] enemies, so you will have to be careful. Once the old barrels are
destroyed the rest of the puzzles should not be too difficult. (You will
get points every time you do the right thing. In addition, you will get
extra points if you do well in time.)
Once you have completed this mini-game, you will have to do another one.
This time, you will have to load cargoes onto the sand boat. There are
ten cargo bays all together. Pick up a cargo next to Cray and load it
in the light blue bay for maximum points. Once you have finished loading
or if time runs out, the mini-game will finish automatically. You will
get a sequence regardless of how well you did.
Nina would be running towards you and followed closely by Maroku. He
would give you an item depending on how well you did in the mini-games.
Now that you have done his errands, he would keep his side of the
bargain. He would give you the "VIP Room" on board his sand boat... which
turned out to be the inside of a crate. It seemed that his plan was to
hide you inside a box and had you smuggled into the empire's territories.
*************************************************************************
- 1.15 - Dragon Fou-lou -
Items : Protein x 2
Enemies : [Topekera], [Kafu] (Boss)
The screen will switch to Fou-lou. He seemed well enough to travel this
time. When you have the control. You can save the game using the diary
next to his bed. Exit the house and you will get a conversation with
Babadel. Babadel thought Fou-lou should still be in bed, but Fou-lou
would decide to go. Their conversation would drift to the current war.
Babadel did not seem too happy to see people dying in this war.
When you have control again, you can get two Proteins at the back of the
house. (I wonder if you should do that, because Ryu's party may come here
later as well.) Exit the area by going down the slopes on the side.
Continue your way in the second area and you will soon get a sequence.
Yom's party was there to "welcome" Fou-lou again. This time, he would
summon an giant owl to attack you.
-> Boss: [Kafu]
This boss is powerful, but so is Fou-lou's Spiritual Dragon. Have Fou-lou
morph into the Spiritual Dragon and attack continuously with his breath
weapon. Kafu's HP should be drained away within a few rounds.
After the battle, it seemed like Yom was only testing you. He had not
under-estimated your power. He had more than one Kafu. Fou-lou would try
and escape by turing into a dragon, but Yom would send Kafu behind him.
You will witness a pretty cool air battle sequence. It seemed Babadel had
been right. Fou-lou should still be in bed. His imperial majesty got hit
by a beam weapon of the Kafu and the Spiritual Dragon fell disgracefully
from the sky...
*************************************************************************
- 1.16 - To the West Continent -
Items : Medicinal Herb x 3, Glass Domino, Gas Medicine x 2, Vigor Jade
Enemies : Bandit, Gun Head, Living Armour, [Imekafu] (Boss)
I. Shop : Medicinal Herb, Vigor Jade, Antidote, Eye Medicine,
[Flower Herb], Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine, Fire Jade
W. Shop : [Sukuramasakusu], Magic Stick, Iron Bat, Chain Mail,
[Grave Kebu], Glass Domino, [Seirei Stone]
Back to Ryu et al. It seemed like Maroku's plan had worked out after all,
and the party was smuggled into the town of Hashibito. This small town
led to the tower called the Great Empire Bridge. The "bridge" was in fact
a teleportation device that linked this tower on the East Continent and
a similar tower on the West Continent.
In Hashibito, there is a merchant who will sell you items and the other
one who will sell you weapons. When you are done shopping, head to the
teleportation tower. Simply work your way up. (You can use the lifts
outside of the tower. You can get 3 Medicinal Herbs in a wardrobe in the
2nd floor and you can get a Glass Domino in a chest in the lift room in
the 3rd floor. You can use the lift in the 4th floor to get back down if
you want. When you reach the top of the tower, you will get a sequence.
The sky turned dark and thundery all in a sudden. You would see the
opening of the teleportation device in front of you. Just when you are
heading towards the opened gate, a voice would stop you. The Empire
captain who gave you the hard time in Sarai was behind you. He was not
too pleased to see you using the device that belonged to the Empire. He
would summon another monster to attack.
-> Boss: [Imekafu]
This is a tough boss. It has strong defence against your characters and
both its physical and magical attacks hit quite hard. (I think it is
weaker when its back is turned.) Have Ryu turns into the Aura Dragona and
unleash some combos on it. Master's magic can hit quite hard in here if
you are lucky. Make sure you heal your characters if they are low in HP.
This boss will fall eventually. (This is the weakness of most bosses in
RPG - no matter how tough they are, they can never heal themselves.)
The gate would be shutting when you defeated the boss. Rasso, the
captain, would not believe that you have managed to defeat his minion.
He would not try to stop you, but would murmur to himself that he had
just witnessed the power of the dragon.
The tower on the Western Continent is exactly the same as the one in the
East. You can get downstairs quickly by using the lift in the centre
room. On the way down, you can grab two Gas Medicine in the chest of the
3rd floor. You can also get a Vigor Jade in the wardrobe of the 2nd
floor. Go down to the 1st floor and you can exit to the world map.
You are now in the West Continent. Go West to the nearest town of Astana.
*************************************************************************
- 1.17 - Town of Astana -
Inn : 30 Z
I. Shop : Medicinal Herb, Vigor Jade, Antidote, Eye Medicine,
[Flower Herb], Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine
W. Shop : [Kyuirasu], [Grave Kebu], Glass Domino, Full Face, Aura Ring,
Diamond Bracelet, [Sukarabe], [Seirei Stone]
Astana is a town with a definite "Chinese" look, so you can expect all
the woman to dress like Chun-li in Capcom's Street Fighter series! There
is a large cannon in the middle of the town. According to the folks, it
was built during the war. There is an inn and a shop in town, but there
is very little else you can do. Talk to everyone and you will receive
information about the Waterway Bridge in the West.
*************************************************************************
- 1.18 - Waterway Bridge -
Items : Special Atk Medicine, 500 Z, Life Fragment, Magic Fragment
Enemies : Balloon Gumi, Count Gumi, Bandit, Living Armour, [Tsuetsubae]
Back to the world map and you will see a new route towards West. Go to
the new location Waterway Bridge. Make your way across the bridge. Go up
and you will find a first chest that contains a Special Atk Medicine.
Talk to the mechanical guy at the top of the bridge and he will wind up
a lift for you. Take the lift to go down. If you want to, you can have
Ryu cut the rope of the wooden platform so that you can go back. Jump
across and go up. You will find another chest. This one contains 500 Z.
Head back and go to the East end of the bridge. You will be prompted to
jump into the waterway.
You will end up inside the area you have visited during the dream. As
before, there is a rest / save point here. The enemies are also the same
but the wardrobes will contain new items. The first room at the North
now contains a Life Fragment. Go up the stairs. On the way, collect a
Magic Fragment in one of the wardrobes. Go up until you are at the room
with the curtain. You will get the same sequence. After the sequence.
Simply go through behind the curtain and you will get another sequence.
This time, you will not wake up from the dream, but you will be
discovered. The man would ask you for your intention. Your party would
tell her that you were looking for princess Elina. The person would
answer that Elina was here before, but she had departed already. Before
he said more, a gang of soldiers would appear behind you. The party was
trapped and were promptly deported from the Western Continent back to the
East. This concludes the first chapter of the game.
WALKTHROUGH - CHAPTER TWO - HE WHO IS UNCHANGED:
*************************************************************************
- 2.1 - Town of Rudia -
Shop : [Kattsubarukeru], Reed Baton, [Kyuirasu], [Grave Kebu], Full Face,
Medicinal Herb, Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine
The chapter begins showing Cray inside a room in a tower. Cray was under
house-arrest for travelling to the West. The game then switches to Ryu.
He was sleeping peacefully inside a room. Nina would come up and call on
him. When you are back in control, get a Metal at the corner of the room.
There is also a diary for saving the game. Go downstairs and you will
find Master and a new character. The new character introduces himself as
Scias, a mercenary who was hired by the Alliance. He was set there to
set an eye on you. Nina was worry about Cray and so you would have to go
to the castle to check it out for yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scias's Initial Statistics:
Level : 13
HP / AP / CP : 620 / 31 / 3
Atk / Def : 55 / 56
Spd / Int : 35 / 42
Weapon : [Wakizashi]
Armour : Scale Mail
Option : [Seirei Stone]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You will be in the town of Rudia. There is a shop just next to your
house. You can upgrade your weapons there. Go left from your house and
you will end up in the Castle Rudia. The soldier would not allow you pass
though. A minister would come out and say that Cray would not see anyone
today and that you should go back and wait in your house. Nina was quite
upset about this. She blamed it all on herself. She would then decided
that the party should go to Fulan, Cray's hometown to ask for help.
Exit Rudia when you are done.
*************************************************************************
- 2.2 - Town of Shedo -
Items : (Treasure Upgrade)
Inn : 100 Z
I. Shop : Medicinal Herb, Antidote, Eye Medicine, [Flower Herb],
Wooden Rod, Floating, Frog-Jr, Straight
W. Shop : [Kyuirasu], [Grave Kebu], Full Face, Long Boot, Aura Ring,
Diamond Bracelet, [Sukarabe], [Seirei Stone]
F. Spot : Seaside 1
Well, Nine wants you to travel South, but there is nothing to stop you
exploring the map to the North first, right? On the world map outside
Rudia, you will get to a T-junction. West is back to Rudia, North is to
a town called Shedo, and East / South is where you are supposed to go.
However, you should head North first. Wander between the T junction and
Shedo before you get a random ? area. There should be a sign post at the
centre of this area. Read the sign and exit. You will open up a fishing
spot on the seaside. There are a few new fishes here. When you are done
fishing, you can wander about these areas as there are new monsters
around.
Enter the town of Shedo. There is a fish merchant near the entrance. He
is a Manillo's Shop. You can trade fishes with him for new equipments,
but you may not afford everything at the moment. (See Appendix A.5 for
more details.) The inn in this town costs 100 Z, pretty expensive,
considered that you can go back to Rudia and rest for free. There is a
guy hidden underneath a staircase. Talk to him and you will get an
upgrade for your Treasure. There are also shops that will sell you some
new equipment and items as well. Upgrade your equipment if you have to.
That's about all you can do in this town at the moment. When you are
done, go back to where you are supposed to go, South to the Forest of
Pauzzu.
*************************************************************************
- 2.3 - Forest of Pauzzu -
Items : Wooden Fruit x ?, Medicinal Herb x 3, Magic Fragment
Enemies : Nut Fighter, [Udo], [Fire Udo], [Chun-San]
Again, in the forest, you can try out your luck with Master's Personal
Action. Hit the trees to get Wooden Fruits. Some tree will complain when
you hit them though. Can the trees really feel the pain, or is it
something else? In the first area, there is a chest with 3 Medicinal
Herbs. Exit to the second area and you will get a sequence.
Nina heard something, but could not decide about its source. Your party
would decide to continue their way. Just as you began to walk, Nina would
get turned into a tiny size. While she was panicking, your party did
not know what had happened to her. They thought she had disappeared and
decided that they should investigate. Meanwhile, a bird would come down
and have her carried away.
Go a little more, and you will get another sequence. It looks like our
fairy friends are back - and they were responsible for Nina's misfortune.
They thought they were invisible to the party, and so one decided to fly
close to them and scare them. But in fact both Master and Ryu could see
them. Master would hit one of them with his Personal Action, and our
fairy friends would be forced to reveal themselves. Your party would ask
them the location of Nina, and they would tell you that she was carried
away by some birds and she would probably be in a nest somewhere. They
would then fly off and disappear.
In the same area, there is a bag that contains a Magic Fragment. Go West
to an isolated tree. Have Master hit the tree and you will get another
sequence. Tiny Nina was awakened by Master's rough treatement of the tree
and she found herself in the middle of a bird's nest. Well, she decided
that she could not do much in here and so she would try and escape. Go
outside the nest and you will get yet another sequence. It seemed another
bird was hunting for food and there was a worm just appeared out of
nowhere. The bird probably thought that Nina was hunting for the same
"food" as well and so it would attack.
-> Boss: [Chun-San]
No matter what you do, DO NOT fight the bird. Simply defend, or cast any
skills such as Good Night or Rest. The bird's children would call to it,
and it would escape after a few turn. If you don't kill it, it will drop
you a Bamboo Rod after it escaped. (OK, you get EXP and Z killing it, but
you will only get a Wooden Rod.)
After the fight, try and go down on one side. Master would go impatient,
and he would hit the tree continuously. Nina would become big again, and
she would fall right on top of Ryu... in a rather ugly position. After
some apology, your party would decide to continue their way to Fulan...
with the laugh of the happy fairies at the background.
Exit to the world map. Fulan is just to the East.
*************************************************************************
- 2.4 - Town of Fulan -
Item : Man's Wear
Inn : -Free-
Shop : [Kattsubarukeru], Reed Baton, Spark Rod, Ranger Suit,
Bronze Shield, Medicinal Herb, Fire Jade, Water Jade
Enemy : Kan (Boss)
Lore Master : Una
Fulan is the hometown of the tiger people. Cray is their current
chieftain. Next to the entrance is a house with a water wheel. The game
tutorial kid is there if you want to know more about combo. East of that
house is the inn. It is free. There is a fish merchant there selling you
various items as well. Upgrade your equipment if necessary. Go East and
up the slope and you will be inside the house of the Elders. You will
get a sequence. The village elders were there discussing the situation as
if you were not there. But they will decide, at the end, that you should
go look for Tabo, Cray's mom, who was also the previous chieftain. She
has migrated to the Golden Plain after her retirement. You should go
there to look for her if you want to help Cray.
Don't go there yet. Go upstairs in the Elder's house. A female warrior is
there. Talk to her and she will tell you to talk to her student, Kan who
is just outside in the balcony. Talk to Kan and he would challenge you
to a fight... later. Go downstairs, leave the house, and try to head back
to town and Kan will jump down at you. Time for another fight.
-> Boss: Kan
He is easier this time as you should have gained a few levels since
Senesta. You should win the fight quite comfortably with or without
having to use Ryu's Aura Dragon. Kan would run away after the fight to
continue his training, because the female warrior Una thought that he was
"weak". Talk to Una again and she will become your Lore Master. There is
also a passge down the South side of the Elder's house. Go down there to
get a Man's Wear.
If you exit the world map now, you will see a new route towards east. It
is the Golden Plain. But when you go there, you will not be able to go
anywhere. It seems the Golden Plain is a large place and you will
probably need a better vehicle than your feet. Head back to Fulan. Talk
to the boy near the stream. He will lend you a rather strange looking
animal called the Omu. The little creature seems to like Master a lot.
After some consideration, it was decided that Ryu should ride the Omu to
find Tabo. The boy will also give you some information of the location of
Tabo's house.
*************************************************************************
- 2.5 - Golden Plain -
Enemies : Nut Fighter, Nut Archer, Nut Shaman
Head back to the Golden Plain and you will get a sequence. You will be
inside a camp with Ryu learning how to ride an Omu. After getting thrown
off a few times, Ryu will have to travel through the Plain on the Omu
alone. This place reminds me of the horrible desert journey in Breath of
Fire III... Go East first until you see a very large rock. From there, go
Northeast. You will soon see a house in the horizon. Go there and you
will get a sequence.
Cray's mother, Tabo would tell you more about more about the situation.
It looked like that Rudia and Fulan had been fight each other before they
were engaged in fighting the Empire. Now that the outside threat was
gone, the crown prince in Rudia found it just convenient when the
captured Cray was sent to them. In any case, they would probably make up
an excuse to give Cray a death penalty. Ryu would be alarmed, but Tabo
would tell him to go to rest because he must be tired after the long
journey through the Plain. (Tabo does not look like a tiger breed,
doesn't she? How she has become Cray's mom is beyond me.)
In his memory, you would be shown the people in Rudia giving Cray a
rather unfair trial. They would also mention something about the Royal
Sword of Windia as well. Things were not looking good - especially
because the Royal Sword had been broken by you during the incidence with
Rasso back in Sarai.
When you are awake, go talk to Tabo again. You can know more about the
current situation if you choose the first two options. Choose the third
option and you will get a sequence. Tabo would tell you that Cray was
entrusted with the Royal Sword. Now that you had broken it, he would be
charged with a further crime, so the first thing to do would be to forge
another Royal Sword to replace the broken one. She would tell you to go
to the blacksmith in Gu's Volcano who knows how to forge the blade. The
place in somewhere to the South. Exit the area and you will be back on
the world map.
Head back to the starting point of the Golden Plain and it will become
an ! area. the rest of the party would still be there. They would decide
to go back to Fulan to ask the Elders for direction to Gu's Volcano.
Back to Fulan, talk to the Elder at the centre and he will give you
direction to the Gu's Volcano through the Golden Plain. Head to the
Golden Plain. Travels East again until you see the large rock. Go South
from there. (You should be able to see a volcano in the horizon so you
can miss it.)
*************************************************************************
- 2.6 - Gu's Volcano -
Items : Fire Protector, 600 Z, Vigor Jade, Drill Punch, Metal,
Fire Jade
Enemies : [Udo], [Fire Udo], Fire Drake
Enter the first area inside the volcano. Avoid stepping on the magma
because it will decrease your HP. There is a bag in the first area that
contains a Fire Protector. Enter the second area, up the ramp to the
third area. There are some unstable plates in the centre of the area. To
go across, you will have to move this area... by engaging in combats.
After each fight, the position of these plates will move allowing you
access to outer regions. There are two chests in this area. One contains
600 Z and the other one contains a Vigor Jade. You can also go to a side
area in the West. It contains a Drill Punch for Master. Head to the next
area. Go down the ladder and across some suspension bridges and you will
arrive in the blacksmith's house. You will get a short sequence.
The old blacksmith would agree to help, but he did not have the right
metal for the blade in the forge. The metal was called Fairy Drop, a rare
ingredient that could only be obtained from the fairies. He told you,
however, that it would be impossible for you to get the ingredients since
human could not see fairies. Master would then told the blacksmith that
this was not a problem because he could see them perfectly well and so
the party would decide to travel back to Pauzzo Forest to find our fairy
friends and asked them to help.
Examine the wardrobe in the blacksmith's house and you will get a Metal.
Go downstairs, the chest outside contains a Fire Jade. Go East to exit to
the world map.
*************************************************************************
- 2.7 - Dream Devil Buster -
Items : Fairy Drop
Enemies : [Somago], [Chigomu], [Kyo], [Udai], [Bokuto], [Monma] (Boss)
Head back to the Pauzzo Forest. Go back to the area where you first saw
the fairies. You should be able to notice some fairy sparkles in a
U-shaped bush. Talk to it and the fairies will reveal themselves. Our
friends would agree to get you the Fairy Drop. The only trouble is that
their home was being occupied by some Dream Devils. They would only be
able to help you obtain a Fairy Drop if you would help them to drive
away the Dream Devils. The fairies would then ask you to turn around so
that they could transfer you to their world. That would warn you that it
would hurt... as they hit you very hard on your heads.
You will be inside the Dream World of the Fairy Realm. The Dream Devils
are everywhere. (They are the ones with the ...ZZZ... icons.) Talk to
each of them to engage in a fight. None of them should be too difficult.
Some of these monsters will drop you goodies such as Life Fragments and
Magic Fragments. Once you have defeated all the normal Dream Devils, you
will get a sequence. A much bigger version of the Dream Devil would
appear - and it would accuse you of slaying its minions. Time for another
boss fight.
-> Boss: [Monma]
This guy should be quite easy if you have managed to learn some good
skills earlier. A combo of Flame Strike, Double Hit and Super Combo
should kill it in a round or two. Don't worry if you have not learnt
these skills. This guy does not hit too hard. Just hit it with your
physical attacks or any of your best combos and it should be dead very
soon. You will receive a Magic Fragment after the fight.
The fairies would cheer you after the fight. They would give you the
Fairy Drop as promised. You would then be sent back into reality. Once
you are back. Exit the forest and go back to the ? area West of the
Gu's Volcano. Back to the old blacksmith and he would forge a new Royal
Sword for you. Once you had a new sword, Nina would decide to travel
back to Rudia to see if they could help Cray.
*************************************************************************
- 2.8 - To the Rescue -
Items : [Jigen hat]
Enemies: [Goki], [Tsuetsuebae], [Rudia Soldier], [Dozing Soldier]
Back to Rudia. Head to the castle and you will be denied entrance again.
The crown prince who tried Cray was here. He would refuse to hear
anything Nina would have to say. Back outside, Nina would decide that
they should go and rescue Cray in the middle of the night. You should
head back to the house where you began the chapter. When you go upstairs,
you will be prompted to wait for the nightfall.
Meanwhile, our imperial majesty, Emperor Fou-lou would be lucky again.
Remember his fight with Kafu when he fell from the sky. This time, he
got rescue by a young and nice looking lady.
Back to Ryu et al, it's dark enough outside. Time to rescue Cray from the
castle. Go into the castle and you will have to fight the watchman in the
North. Here, you have to defeat him in a single round or else you will be
sent back outside. You have to hit quite hard to kill the guard in a
single round because he is quite tough. When you have killed the guard,
go upstairs and fight another guard. Again, you will have to defeat him
in a single round. Go into the doorway the watchman was guarding for a
chest that contains a [Jigen hat]. Come back out and continue your way
upstairs. You will have to fight one more guard before you can enter
Cray's chamber. Again, you must kill the guard in a single round or you
will be sent all the way back to the entrance.
Enter Cray's chamber and you will find him standing alone at the balcony.
He would still be thinking about his mission to find Nina's sister. He
was surprised when Nina turned up in front of him. Nina would tell Cray
to escape with them. At first Cray would not want to go, but he would
soon be convinced after Nina mentioned about the death penalty. You would
decide to head back to Fulan and see to the matter. Exit the castle and
Rudia. Head to Fulan.
People in Fulan are more than happy to see their cheiftain return. Go and
see the Elders and they will tell you to go and talk to Cray's mom, Tabo
again. Go to Tabo's house in the ? area at the Northeastern direction of
the Golden Plain. You will get yet another sequence.
Tabo had been worried about Cray. Even though Cray was now the chieftain,
he was still a kid to mom. Tabo would tell you to go rest yourself for
the night before more talk. The next morning, talk to your party and then
go talk to Tabo again. You would get another short sequence. Tabo thought
that the Empire was really gaining too much ground now that they were
actually roaming so freely in the "neutral grounds" that was declared by
the peace treaty. What was the Empire up to? Nina would suggest that
perhaps it had something to do with the Empire searching for the dragons?
Perhaps Ryu should know of something. Remember the sequence with the mud
dragon? Nina would then suggest that perhaps they should go and seek out
the Wind Dragon in Windia area. Tabo would tell you that in order to
reach Windia, you would have to go to the Temple at the Eastern edge of
the Golden Plain. She would give you a green jade so that you could gain
access to the temple.
*************************************************************************
- 2.9 - Tabo's Temple -
Items : 500 Z, Silver Spinner x 4, Light Bracelet, (Treasure Upgrade)
Enemies : Fire Drake, Nut Fighter, Nut Archer, Nut Shaman, Caterpillar
Once you are back on the world map, go back to the Golden Plain and walk
towards East. You should be inside Tabo's Temple after you have covered
some distance. Go down into the temple and examine the alter. Place the
green jade there and a secret way will open in front of you.
The next area looks like a maze, but there is actually only one way to
go. A chest at the Northwestern corner contains 500 Z. The exit is to the
East. You will be inside a room with laser beam blocking your way. You
can have Cray push the handles in the room to change the direction of the
laser beam. This puzzle is not too difficult to solve. (You cannot become
"stuck" in here as far as I know, as the puzzle will not be reset if you
exit the chamber.) There are 2 other exits in this room. There is also a
chest to the South. Make your way to it to get a Silver Spinner. The exit
to the East leads you to a chest containing a Light Bracelet. The exit
to the North is where you want to go next.
Exit there and go up a long flight of stair and you will end up inside
someone else's house. (How convenient...) Talk to the guy and he will
upgrade your Treasure. Exit the house to the East and exit the area. You
will be back onto the world. A new route will open to the North. It leads
to a new area called Amu Swamp.
*************************************************************************
- 2.10 - On the Way to Windia -
Items : Frog-Jr, Scale Mail, Life Fragment, Health Fruit (?)
Enemies : Patrol, Head Cracker, Nut Fighter, Nut Archer, Nut Shaman
Lore Master : Fairy Sozumo
Enter the Amu Swamp. It is basically an area with narrow bridges across
a swampy area. The first area is pretty straight forward as there is
really only one way to go. On your way, you can get to a chest with a
Frog Jr. Proceed to the second area.
The second area is slightly more complicated. For a start, it has two
giant snakes that circles around the area when you step on the X area on
the bridges. For a good start, the snakes do not bite, they are just an
alternative way for mobile bridges. Moves the snakes around by stepping
an X area continuously until it gets to the position you want. Then
travel along the snakes to get to the next bridge - and so on. There
are two chests in this area. The first one contains a Scale Mail and the
second one contains a Life Fragment. Best of all, there does not seem to
be any random enemies in this area. (The snakes have probably eaten all
the random enemies!) Exit to the third screen and exit the area. You will
be back on the world map.
There is a new route going to the North. In the first T junction, go East
first and you will be inside a ? area. There is a house in there. Go
inside and there is a man living there. The wardrobe in there contains a
Health Fruit. Upstairs you will find a fairy. She is called Sozumo and
will become one of your lore masters when you have progressed a little
bit in the Fairy Colony mini-game. Nothing you can here do at the moment.
So, exit the area and continue North. The next T junction can either lead
you back to Shedo or you can continue North. Continue North and you will
get an ! area where you will get a sequence at a campsite.
Nina and Cray would be discussing about their journey. The event so far
had led them to very little clues about where Elina had gone. Nina was
not even sure whether she would be welcomed in Windia since she had
failed her mission to located Elina. As Cray had been captured in Rudia,
things might not be as smooth as they had desired. Just at this moment, a
fairy popped out from nowhere.
She would ask our hero the Dragon One to help rebuild their colony in the
Dream World. They have not a single clue what to do now that you have got
rid of the Dream Devils for them. Agree to help and you will be inside
the Dream World once again. (See Appendix D for more information on how
to play the Fairy Colony mini-game.) When you are done in the Dream World,
exit the area and you will be back in the campsite. From this point on,
you can re-enter the Dream World simply by talking to the leading Fairy
who will be visible when you open up a campsite on the world map. In
addition to that, some of your random ? areas on the world map will
become fairy hunting grounds. You can help them hunting if you want.
When you are done, continue North and you will reach Windia.
*************************************************************************
- 2.11 - Windia -
Items : Swallow's Nest x 2, Wind Ring, Wisdom Fruit, Frog-lord,
(Treasure Upgrade)
Inn : 200 Z
Shop : Bastard Sword, Air Branch, Mace, [Tsuranekimaru],
Scale Mail, Magician's Robe, Cocktail Dress, Long Boot
M. Shop : (See Appendix A.5)
Lore Master : Momo
Windia is the home of Nina, princess of the kingdom of the winged people.
If you have Nina as the head of the party, town folks may recognise her
when you talk to them. Talk to the Windian town folks if you like. There
is an inn at the left hand side of the entrance. It costs 200 Z to rest,
ouch! Upstairs at the inn, a guy will sell you new weapons. Upgrade your
existing equipment if you have the money. Outside at the centre of the
town is a Manillo Merchant Shop. There are many fishing lures on sale
here. Next, go to the windmill next to the inn and you will find a
familiar face there. Momo from Breath of Fire III will be here and she
will become one of your lore masters if you talk to her.
Next enter the large house on the right. If you have a Spoon in your
inventory (probably from the Maroku if you do well in the mini-games back
in Senesta), the guy next to the fireplace will trade 8 Metals with you.
The kitchen in that house has a wardrobe that contains 2 Swallow's Nest.
Go up the lift to Windia Castle when you have finished exploring the
town. Before seeing the king, go up the southern tower first. Follow the
way to the northern tower. You will find a chest with a Wind Ring. Next
go to the centre chamber. Soldiers will move off upon seeing their
princess. The first door to the South leads to a room with a wardrobe
that contains a Wisdom Fruit. The next room has a wardrobe containing a
[Seirei Stone]. Before talking to the minister outside the northeastern
room, go downstairs first and down into the prison. The prisoner there
has stolen a Treasure from Windia Castle and he will exchange it with
yours. Upgrade your Treasure.
Back in the central chamber, go talk to the minister and Nina will burst
into his father's bedroom. You will automatically be inside the
mini-conference room downstairs. You will get a sequence where the party
will relate their story to the king. Nina would tell her father about the
Empire's expedition of the dragon and she would mention their plan to
investigate on the Wind Dragon. Apparently, the Wind Dragon had been
revered by the people in Windia as god-like. The king would then tell you
to head to the forest in the East if you wanted more information about
the Wind Dragon. An old lady was living there. She was known as the
priestess of the Wind. After the sequence, check the wardrobe in the
king's bedroom and you will find a Frog-Lord.
Back to the world map and you will find a new route. It leads to the
a new area in the East.
*************************************************************************
- 2.12 - Kasuku Forest -
Items : 600 Z, Long Boot, Wind Jade, Magic Fragment, Penshiru x 3,
Metal
Enemies : Bill Boar, [Hachi], Head Cracker, Nut Shaman
F. Spot : Riverside 2
Enter the Kasuku Forest. In the first area, you will find a frog man.
Talk to him and he will give you information about a new fishing spot.
(If you exit to the world map now, a new fishing spot will open up in the
Northeast.) Exit North to the second area. In this area, you can use the
logs to get you across the river in the middle. Simply get up a log and
roll it by using the direction button. You should be able to get to a
chest with a Long Boot and a bag with a Wind Jade. There is another
chest with 600 Z on the way to the exit to the Northeast corner.
In the third area, there is a chest if you go round the path to the left
of the entrance. It contains a Magic Fragment. Exit the area to the
North. You will be inside the final area of this forest. There is a house
there. Inside the house, you will find an old lady who is the priestess
of Wind and you will get another sequence. She would give you information
about the Wind Tower. But to enter the tower, you would have to find the
key to unlock the door first. The key was known as the Wind's Flute. She
would then tell you that this artefact had been stored away in the
catacombs underneath Castle Windia.
Back to the world map and you should see a new location opening up. It
leads to the Wind Tower. Leave it for now, because you need to get the
Wind's Flute first to unlock its door. Go back to Windia.
*************************************************************************
- 2.13 - Windia Catacombs -
Items : [Seirei Stone], Swallow's Nest x 3, [Madowazu no kabuto],
Medicinal Herb x 4
Enemies : Violent Zombie, Zombie Doctor, Zombie Mind, Caterpillar,
[Goki Gokki]
Talk to Nina's father king and he will give you permission to go down to
the Windia Underground Catacombs. Head back to outside and go down the
tower to the North. The guard there will let you through into the under-
ground dungeon.
The first area is pretty straight forward. There is only one way to go.
You will find a chest in the North end that contains a [Seirei Stone].
Exit to the East. There is a fan in the second area that will suck you
back. You can only move when it is blowing in the the other direction.
Run as quickly as you can when it is not blowing your way. A chest there
contains 3 Swallow's Nests. Exit to the North and you will be inside a
mechanical room. Use the moving bars as your bridges across the room. On
the way, you should be able to reach a chest that contains a [Madowazu
no kabuto]. Exit to the East. There are more fans in this next area. Use
the edges of the tunnels to avoid getting blown back. You can get a bag
with 4 Medicinal Herbs on the way. Exit to the North and you will reach
your destination. Get the Wind's Flute at the altar and backtrack through
the dungeon.
Meanwhile, you will get a sequence of Scias selling his information about
the Wind Tower to the minister in Rudia. It looks like the Rudians are
also trying to obtain the power of the dragon.
Now that you have the Wind's Flute, you can unlock the secret of the Wind
Tower. Go back to the world map and head North.
*************************************************************************
- 2.14 - Wind Tower -
Items : Homing Bomb, 600 Z, Power Food x 2, [Kenpougi]
Enemies : Zombie Doctor, Zombie Mind, [Goki Gokki], Fire Drake,
[Nesutto Koumori], [Gorosuki] A, B and C (Boss)
The Wind Tower is a tower that floats. It reminds me very much of the
original Breath of Fire... Anyway, when you reaches the Tower, your party
will use the Wind's Flute automatically. This will take you up to the
tower itself. Enter the tower. When you reach a T junction, turn right
first. You will soon reach a room with a chest that contains a Homing
Glove for Master. Go to the left and follow the stairs up. You will be
inside a vertical wind tunnel. Here you can jump higher when the wind
blows. The chest here contains 600 Z. Exits to the South and follows the
winding stairs outside. Come back into the tower on the other side.
You will be back into the vertical wind tunnel again. Do the same in here
- jumping when the wind is strong will take you to the higher platforms.
You can't get the chest until you exit and go upstairs. When you are
upstairs, simply jump down when the wind is not blowing. You will reach
the chest that contains 2 Power Foods. Go all the way up afterwards to
another chest that contains a [Kenpougi]. Jump up when the wind is strong
again and you will find yourself at the top of the Wind Tower.
Go outside and you will be in a rather dangerous walkway in the middle of
the sky. Head to the flying boat and you will get a sequence. The Rudian
minister had followed you to here. It seemed that what he had been
looking for was not the Wind Dragon, but Ryu himself. He addressed Ryu as
the "Arukai Dragon" and he wanted you to hand Ryu over to him. Well, of
course your party would not give up so easily and so you would have to
fight his minions.
-> Boss: [Gorosuki] A, B and C
These guys aren't very difficult. Just hit them with anything you like
and they should die pretty quickly. After the fight, you would get
another sequence. More of these guys would come out from behind and you
would be surrounded. At this moment, Scias would come out and save the
day. He would drop his money back to the minister and decided to help you
instead. Well, time for more fights. You cannot control Scias here, but
he will be fighting on one side. Again, hit the bosses with whatever you
like. They should die in a few rounds.
This time, the minister would run away. Scias apologized for his betrayal
but Nina would tell him to forget about it. He did help the party
afterall. Scias would rejoin the party. Go to the flying boat and you
would be thrown up to level with the clouds. Many creatures were flying
there, but which one was the Wind Dragon?
Not to worry, because the Wind Dragon would reveal itself. It would tell
you more about dragons. Revered by many as deities, dragons were
creatures that brought changes to the world. The power of the dragons to
change the world could be for good or for bad. The dragons would only
follow the laws of nature. The changes brought by the dragons were
actually controlled by the people in the world. They merely acted as
catalysts. (Don't you just hate riddles?) Anyway, the Wind Dragon would
then tell you to go to the village of Check if you wanted to know more.
Conveniently, the flying boat would crash land in the plateau area North
of the Village of Check.
Back to the world map at last, but unfortunately, you won't be able to go
back to the other areas until the next chapter. Check is to the South.
You will have to go through the Great Snow Mountain to get to the
Village. Head South and enter the area.
*************************************************************************
- 2.15 - Great Snow Mountain -
Items : Vigor Jade, Lamellar Armour, 500 Z
Enemies : Icicle Bird, [Red Kyappu], [Blue Kyappu], [Nesutto Koumori]
This place is pretty straight forward. In the first area, go up the slope
to the top. Enter the cave and get a Vigor Jade in a chest. Come back out
and enter the cave underneath. Go round the cave and back outside. You
will be able to get to the second area. In the second area, use Cray to
push the snow balls to get them out the way and to put them through gaps
so that you can reach the chests. The first chest contains a Lamellar
Armour and the second one contains 500 Z. Exit the area and you will be
able to get to the Village of Check.
*************************************************************************
- 2.16 - The Village of Check -
Item : Metal
Inn : -Free-
Shop : Bastard Sword, Air Branch, Mace, Lamellar Armour, Magician's Robe,
Medicinal Herb, Universal Medicine, Gas Medicine
All inhabitants in this village look like kids. Anyway, there is an inn
next to the entrance of the town. It is free and you can also get a Metal
in a bag there. In the North side of town is a shop. Upgrade your weapons
if necessary. You are supposed to see the Elder in here. Go to her house
to the East of the village.
The village elder was an old lady. (I think she was quite blind as well.)
As usual in RPG, she would begin to talk in riddles. She would begin to
talk about the life force that she could see in other people. She could
see the strong life force burning in Ryu, Nina and Cray. Just when your
characters were beginning to get confused, she would tell you that you
should go and rest.
Ryu would wake up just before dawn. Walk outside and you would get a
sequence. The Elder would tell you more about life force. Only that she
could not see the life force of Master. What sort of secrets lied inside
him / her? What was Master?
The next morning, after a nice little chat with Nina, you should go to
the Northeastern corner of the village and you will get more sequence. (I
know, there are lots of sequences in this part of the game - and you are
going to get even more.) The elder would tell you that Master was
actually a device to seal an ancient power within. This ancient power was
probably as old and as powerful as that of the dragon power possessed by
Ryu. You would then decide to go inside Master's Mind to unseal the power
to see if it would be of any use to you.
*************************************************************************
- 2.17 - Master Mind -
Items : Water Protector
Enemies : [Baku], Mind Bust, [Umadapu] (Boss), [Azeusu] (Boss),
[Agieru] (Boss), [Ierubu] (Boss)
You will be sucked into the mind of Master. The first area is pretty
straight forward. Just jump across the platforms. You can get a Water
Protector in the chest there. Exit to the Northeast. In the second area,
jump across the platforms to reach a large spinning structure. You can
use the white globe on your right to stop the spinning structure at the
right place. Jump across when it is right. You should be able to reach
the top of the structure.
You would find what you would be looking at. There was a lady sealed at
an octahedron at the centre. The four pillars surrounding the centre
seemed to be the source of the seal. If you talk to the lady, she would
ask you to fight the pillars to unseal her. (The face looks familiar,
huh?) Examine any one of the pillars and you would have to engage in a
boss fight.
-> Boss: [Umadapu], [Azeusu], [Agieru], [Ierubu]
These pillars are pieces of cakes. I managed to kill them all in two
rounds. Just hit them with whatever you like and they would simply die.
Once you got rid of the pillars, the seal would be broken. It looked like
we have a nice and pretty looking lady sealed inside Master. She could
not come out with you yet, because she would need a proper body first.
Backtrack and head back to the entrance. You would be back in reality.
It seemed like the elder could see everythng that had happened inside of
Master. She had prepared a girl to become the host to the unsealed lady
already. Master would be opened up and the spirit would travel from the
robotic armour into the girl. Guess what was the first thing she asked?
She wanted food!
Meanwhile the game will show you the latest news from his imperial
majesty, Fou-lou. He was still with the pretty farm girl who rescued him.
(Correct me if I am wrong in here, because I was pretty tired while
playing through this part of the game.)
Back to Ryu et al, Master-as-girl would begin to talk about dragon
summoning. It looked like that the Empire had been looking for this
forbidden art. Fou-lou, the founder of the Empire practiced this art.
He claimed to have found this power not for his own purpose, but for the
benefit of the world as well. While he would become god, he would protect
the world so that people could live in peace. Something happened during
one of his summons and his consciousness was splitted into two - and Ryu
was one of them!
*************************************************************************
- 2.18 - Village of Son -
Item : (Earth Ring)
Enemy : Papan (Boss)
The game would switch to Fou-lou again. You would begin in the house of
the farm girl, Mami. Try and walk out the village and you will get a
sequence. As usual, Mami would think that you should still be in bed, but
Fou-lou thought that he would to travel to the capital soon. All in a
sudden, there would be a noise to the left of Fou-lou. It came from the
forest there.
Cross to the other side of the farmland and enter the forest to
investigate. There is an Earth Ring in this area, but I think you should
leave it for the main party. Go forward to a clearing and Fou-lou would
be attacked by a monster.
-> Boss: Papan
Papan hits quite hard, so you should have Fou-lou morph into the
Spiritual Dragon. Continue using your breath weapon on it and it should
shrink into a harmless little animal in a few rounds. Head back to the
village. Villagers would surround Fou-lou - in awe. Mami would run into
Fou-lou to see if he was OK. She would then ask Fou-lou to go and rest.
*************************************************************************
- 2.19 - Ancient Sorceress -
Items : Sleep Jade x 2, Man's Wear
Enemies : [Baku], Mind Bust
Obviously, Ryu was not too happy about his identity as the other half of
Fou-lou. What would happen if they confront each other? Nina would cheer
him up. Nina believed in Ryu and she would always be the one who
supported him. It seemed like that Master-as-girl had been asleep since
after she had given that disturbing speech. Somehow you would have to
wake her up. Talk to the elder and you would be sucked into Master's Mind
again.
The areas look different, but still no more challenging. There are two
chests in the first area. One of them contains 2 Sleep Jade and the other
one contains a Man's Wear. Go to the second area. There is a temple in
there and someone is laughing. It seemed like someone was having a good
time. The unsealed pretty lady was surrounded by all these golden
servants. Fans of the series would probably guessed who this lady REALLY
is. Yes, she is Deis, the ancient and most powerful sorceress. She would
agree to wake up and help. You would be told to go to the Temple of
Arukai. Backtrack and exit back to reality.
*************************************************************************
- 2.20 - Temple of Arukai -
Items : Swallow's Nest x 2, Dragon Scale x 3, Magic Fragment x 2,
Soul Ring
Enemies : Bill Blue, Poppin Crawler, [Bafomatto], Bot
Head South to the Temple of Arukai. You will get an ! area on your way.
It looked like the robotic armour that was Master was still alive. It
would come to you, but it would not rejoin the party. It would return to
the village of Check. (There are some new enemies in here with some new
skills. Wander around to learn them.)
Continue your way into Arukai Temple. Enter the temple. There is a chest
in the first area, but you will have to go round to get to it. It
contains 2 Swallow's Nests. Continue North and your path will be
splitted. Both paths leads to the same room. The left path goes to the
lower room and the right path goes to the upper gallery - where you can
jump across some pillars to a chest containing 3 Dragon Scales, but you
won't be able to get to the exit yet. Go to the lower room and examine
the plate below the exit. You will get an hourglass. Run back to the
upper room and jump across the pillars. (You can reach the East / West
exits if you wait for the pillars to drop back into its original
positions. The East / West exits lead to a room with two chests. One
contains 2 Magic Fragments and the other one contains a Soul Ring.) Exit
through the centre exit and continue North. You will reach your
destination.
Deis-as-girl is already there. She would tell Ryu that he would have to
break a seal inside him before he could obtain the power to summon. The
game would switch back to Fou-lou.
*************************************************************************
- 2.21 - Yogi Volcano -
Items : Wisdom Fruit, Pure Vigor Jade x 3, Metal
Enemies : Mental, Kain, Bill Bio, Gumi Black, [Iwaokain] (Boss)
Fou-lou would wake up in Mami's house again. There is a minor earthquake
all in a sudden. Go outside to investigate. When you are at the exit of
town, Mami would be there. Talk to her and she would tell you that there
was a god living in the volcano. It must be angry now that the volcano
was about the erupt. Fou-lou would decide to go and see god himself. Exit
town and travel North to Yogi Volcano.
At the entrance of the volcano, Fou-lou would break the rock blocking his
way. There are some items here, but you may want to leave them for the
main party later in the game. So simply travel up the slope and enter the
volcano. You will encounter "god" at the deepest part of the dungeon
inside the volcano. [Iwaokain] was there. Since Fou-lou believed that the
only god would be the dragon within himself, he would have to get rid of
all the other gods.
-> Boss: [Iwaokain]
This guy hits quite hard and it can summon smaller forms of itself to aid
him in the fight. Simply have Fou-lou turn into the Spiritual Dragon and
use the same breath strategy on it. It should die after several rounds.
Go back all the way. Try to exit the area and Fou-lou would be surrounded
by the villagers. Mami would run to him to check if he was OK. She would
ask him to go back and rest again.
*************************************************************************
- 2.22 - Dragon Summon -
Summon : Wind Dragon
Meanwhile, Deis and Ryu would have succeeded in contacting the dragons
from all over the world. But would they help Ryu, who was only half of
Emperor Fou-lou?
In Son Village, Fou-lou would be back at Mami's home to rest. The next
day, when you go outside, the village looked all deserted. A bad sign...
It looked like there were soldiers all over the place - and they were
here to welcome Fou-lou... back to his grave. Fou-lou decided that he
should hide instead of going forward. Go back to Mami's house and you
will get a sequence. While the soldiers were searching, Mami would run
back into the house and locked the door. Examine the stove and Mami would
ask you to escape through it. You would escape, but Mami would be dragged
out and captured.
Back to the Temple of Arukai. The dragons would finally agree to help Ryu
and they would grant him the ability to summon dragons - but you would
have to look for them yourself. Ryu would get his first dragon summon
magic, Great Heavenly Saint, in here. It is quite powerful and it
requires 0 AP, but you can only use it once - until you rest at an inn or
at a campsite.
Try and leave the area and you will get a sequence in Check Village.
*************************************************************************
- 2.23 - Invasion of Check Village -
Enemies : [Sou Hei], [Kyuu Hei]
Captain Rasso of the Empire was here in the Check Village with his
soldiers. The village elder was with Master. All the other villagers had
escaped to an abondoned town nearby. The elder would try and escape
herself now. She would ask Master to go as well.
Go outside and you will see the village elder, surrounded by soldiers.
Help her and you will have to fight two empire soldiers. You should be
able to take them out in one or two rounds. Master would then put the
elder inside itself so that she could be protected, but Rasso would
spot it, so you would have to fight again. Three soldiers this time, but
they are still pieces of cakes. After the fight, Rasso would tell you
that he intended to kill all the escaped villagers. When Master
challenged him, Rasso would hit Master, sending it flying toward a wall.
When Ryu et al were back in the village, they would find Master and the
elder there. All the villagers were gone and Rasso would be after them.
The elder would ask you to go to the abondoned town to help the villagers
escape, but the shell that was Master would truly be broken this time.
*************************************************************************
- 2.24 - The Kaiser Dragon -
Items : [Seirei Stone], Wisdom Seed
Enemies : [Yaen], Poppin Crawler, Bill Blue, [Aito] (Boss)
The next morning, go back to the world map and go North to the ? area.
There is only one area here. A chest there contains a [Seirei Stone] and
a bag there contains a Wisdom Seed. Exit the area and you will get an
automatic campsite sequence. After the little chat, go rest yourself and
save your game. You will hear Nina's scream outside the tent. Go outside
to see what happened.
Captain Ursula of the Empire was demanding your party to hand Ryu over to
her. Since you were all surrounded by Ursula's troops, there was very
little your party could do but co-operate. But Nina would ask Ursula a
favour. She would tell Ursula of Rasso's plan to annihilate the villagers
in Check. Nina asked Ursula whether they could just go and check whether
the villagers were OK. To that, Ursula would agree - since her mission
here was not to kill the innocents but only to find the dragon.
Your party would be "escorted" to the Abondoned Town. Rasso was here. It
looked like that he had killed everyone in cold blood. Ursula was not too
happy and she would go up to challenge him. Seeing Ryu et al, Rasso was
more then happy. Ursula would tell him that she had had Ryu found, and
they should go back and report. But Rasso would not agree. He did not
believe that the dragon could be captured so easily. He would then
summon a monster to attack you.
-> Boss: [Aito]
No matter what you do, you will not be able to harm this boss because of
its special shield. Even the dragon summon Great Heavenly Saint can only
cause very little damage. Put Ryu at the first position so that he is
most vulnerable to attacks. Heal and revive your other characters if they
are low on HP or if they fall. When Ryu's HP reaches 0, he will turn
into the Kaiser Dragon automatically. (You cannot control the Kaiser.)
He will then use his breath weapon to attack continuously. The first
round, the breath will break the shield and the second round, the boss
should be dead. (The breath sequence of the Kaiser looks very cool. It
reminds me of Bahamut ZERO in Final Fantasy VII...)
Ryu would go berserk as the Kaiser Dragon. (Remember Breath of Fire III?)
As the Kaiser Dragon was killing the boss in his anger, the empire
soldiers would run off leaving a very stunned Ursula on the ground. Nina
would try her best to calm Ryu down and bring him back. She was afraid,
but it was all she could do. This event would conclude the second chapter
of the game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*************************************************************************
WALKTHROUGH - CHAPTER THREE - FLOW:
*************************************************************************
- 3.1 - Fou-lou's Escape -
Items : Life Bangel
D. Gene : Aquarius
Enemies : Kain, Cyclops, Bill Bio, Shadow
You will begin the third chapter with Fou-lou in Son Village. He was
inquiring a villager about the fate of Mami. The villager would tell him
that Mami was captured by the soldiers. He would tell you that the
village was full of soldiers and that you should consider your own
escape. He would give you a Life Bangel, a very useful option that will
recover your HP per step or per battle turn. Equip it, because you will
need it in the next dungeon where the monsters are quite tough. The
villager would then tell you that the forest behind you would still be
free of soldiers and so you should escape through there.
Escape through the forest to the world map. Head to the South to an area
called Hokana. Examine the stone tablet in there and you will get a
sequence. Fou-lou did not seem to be able to open the way into the area,
because it required one's life to open the way. Remember the subdued
Papan boss? It would come out of nowhere and it would smash itself into
the tablet. The way would be opened. Fou-lou was only glad. It looked
like as if the creature worshipped him and was willing to sacrifice its
life for him.
Enter the area. The Cyclops enemies are pretty strong, be warned. On the
way, you could pick up a Dragon Crystal. With the crystal, Fou-lou will
be able to transform into the Serprent Dragon. (Also note that he can
also transform into the most powerful dragon - Tyrant - thanks to Ryu's
Kaiser release.) Continue West and back to the world map.
Go to the next area called the Soma Forest. Simply continue West and you
will get a sequence.
Remember that large Magic Cannon in the town of Astana? And the man you
met at the end of Chapter 1 (and during your dream)? The man was inside
a control room with other soldiers. In the middle of the room sat a
woman who was tied up. (You will know who she is later.) Yom was there
as well. Using a special radar system, they would manage to locate
Fou-lou in Soma Forest. They would use the Magic Cannon on him! When
Fou-lou realised what was happening, it was already too late. He was hit
by the cannon. Surely, he would die this time. Just when he was giving up
hope, a shiny object came down. It seemed that he wouldn't die so easily.
*************************************************************************
- 3.2 - Down the Mountain -
Items : Rocket Punch, Fish's Head x 3
Enemies : [Yaen], [Doroshi], [Mizu fuusen], [Bafometto]
Back to Ryu et al. The party was still in the abondoned village. Ryu had
been calmed and put to sleep by Nina. Ursula was still with them, tied
up. Nina would suggest that they should help Ryu to forge his identity.
After having witnessed the display of the power of the dragon, perhaps
Ryu's power could be used to bring good changes to the world? They would
decide to go back to Check Village first to get some wisdom from the
Elder. Your characters would have Ursula untied, but would promise to
keep a watchful eye on her. So off you go, back to Check.
Go to the Elder's house, and you will get a short sequence. After hearing
your little discussion about Ryu's identity, Ursula would agree to travel
with you to the West Continent. When you go outside, talk to Deis-as-girl
and she would wake up. Apparently, she had had Master repaired as well.
She would go back into Master, leaving the girl's body, and she would
agree to help. Master will rejoin with some new spells!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ursula's Initial Statistics:
Level : 20
HP / AP / CP : 843 / 52 / 3
Atk / Def : 92 / 97
Spd / Int : 58 / 73
Weapon : Shotgun
Armour : Small Breat Plate
Option : Combat Boot
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To go anywhere, your party must make their way down the mountains first.
So go South to Mt. Raft.
Enter the mountain cave. As in many previous areas, this area is pretty
straight forward. There is only one way to go. On the way is a Rocket
Punch in a chest for Master. In the second area is a raft mini-game. You
will have to use the raft to go down the river. You are supposed to get
the bags for more points, but I am not sure if you will get a prize for
doing well. If your raft hits the side, it will beging to disintegrate.
If it completely disintegrate, you will have to start again. Here, you
should fail at least once so that you can get to the chest with 3 Fish's
Heads. If you are not too greedy with the bags, then you should have no
problem going downstream. Exit the area and you will be back to the world
map. Go to the nearest city that is Shedo.
*************************************************************************
- 3.3 - Going West? -
To travel to the western side of the East Continent, you will have to
use a sand boat. There is a sand boat in this town, but you will have to
ask the owner for permission to use it. Go to the North side of the town
through the bridges. There is a frogman inside a house there. Talk to him
and you will get a short sequence. The frogman there would not let you
use the sand boat unless you bought it from him. Since you wouldn't have
the money, your party would have to think about another method. Just when
you come out from the house, another sand boat was going through town.
Scias and Ursula would take up action... if you couldn't get one with
money, you could always do it by force.
The next scene was very funny. It turned out that this sand boat actually
belonged to Maroku, the frog merchant in Senesta who gave you the hard
time. He would be surprised that you had fallen so low since he last saw
you. Well, after insulting Cray and Nina to the point that they became
invisible, he would agree to help you get the Sand Point. He would give
you a token that would allow you to get the sand boat off the other
merchant. Now go back to the frog man in the house and the sand boat
would be yours.
Next stop, Hashibito, the small town where the Great Empire Bridge was
located. Examine your sand boat and you will have to play a time trial
racing styled mini-game. This is just like any 3D racing game. Simply
