A Complete and In-Depth FAQ and Walkthrough
Written and Compiled by Matt Hulbert

Version: Remix - released July 9, 2003
<----------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Welcome to this unofficial Strategy Guide for Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete,
what many believe (including myself) to be the greatest role playing game of
all time. This guide should now be the most complete and in-depth unofficial
guide for Eternal Blue in existence. It has been compiled and written over the
course of 2 years, and will hopefully now serve its purpose to teach and inform
the ways of mastery for the second installment of the greatest RPG series of
all time, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.
If you’ve still got questions regarding how to beat the game, feel free to
email me and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. And remember, if you
need a quick response (faster than email) try the Lunar 2 board on GameFAQs,
there are a lot of good people there who can help besides myself, or my AIM
(mhulbert86). Anyway, thanks and enjoy the guide.

Side Notes: (READ FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT USING THIS GUIDE)
***********************************************************************
1 – The recommended levels for boss fights are the minimum to average levels
you should be at, they do not incorporate any separate time I might mention
over-leveling or what not.
2 – Please don’t think that in a town all you need to do is get the chests and
roll out, as the walkthrough might make you believe, but you should explore the
towns and talk to everyone too.
3 – There are certain spoilers in parts of the walkthrough, generally after
boss fights, so if you want to see what happens before you need it, stop
reading after the boss strategies.
4 – The item lists for each section are meant only as checklists, I did not
wish to take the fun out of exploring towns or dungeons from the player, so I
didn’t give exact locations in 99.9% of the items in question.
5 - You also might be wondering why the Store Compendium is in the Epilogue,
but that’s so you know where you can get what once you have a certain traveling
device, making shopping a bit easier.

A.) THE DRAGON RUINS
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Enemies: N/A
Items/Weapons: Left Opal Jewel
FMV Cut-Scenes: Ruin Raiders
Here we come upon a boy and what appears to be a pink, flying cat. They are
excavating a jewel. Ruby reminds Hiro that he needs to hurry up and get the
jewel out before the trap goes off, apparently a trap Hiro knew absolutely
nothing about, well the trap goes off before he knows it, but they still manage
to get the Right Sapphire Jewel. The moment he pulls out the jewel, the whole
cavern starts to rumble, and Hiro is worried that the exits are being shaken
closed, but before he gets a chance to act the rope he is hanging from breaks,
sending him tumbling down to the tomb floor. No worries though, just some cuts
and bruises, because he’s got bigger problems. After hearing a faint noise, a
pair of Inferno Ghouls appears out of no where and begin a chase to make the
French Connection proud. After exiting into the larger part of the ruins, more
Ghouls join the chase, and now you can throw in the occasional Indiana Jones
style massive ball. While enduring the chase, the boy introduces himself. His
name is Hiro, and this is his best friend Ruby, who claims to be a Baby Red
Dragon, but he doesn’t quite believe her. His grandpa Gwyn, has taught them how
to excavate ruins, and Hiro has fallen in love with archeology and its ties in
with the past, what can we say, he’s a romantic. Anyway, after losing the
Ghouls and making a narrow escape you find yourself on the ramp entrance of the
Dragon Ruins. Simply walk down this ramp into the Salyan Desert, and travel
down the World Map into the East Desert Pass.
And so it begins...

B.) EAST DESERT PASS (north)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Enemies: Dung Beatle HP: 5
Sand Cyclops HP: 30
Sand Shark HP: 28
Items/Weapons: N/A
FMV Cut-Scenes: N/A
Alright, you should note that there is a large statue (this is the Goddess
Althena) here, you can walk up to these and heal yourself, regaining all of
your HP and MP. The monsters in this area are not very strong, and there is a
statue within very short reach, so you want to fight everything in the area, it
will be a very good start to leveling up (which you don’t want to fall behind
on, or you WILL have to catch up later). Anyway, take out the first enemy
(note: take out the Cyclops or Sand Sharks first with the boomerang, or at
attack them first anyway, as Ruby can kill Dung Beatles and they do the least
damage) and then heal, and keep heading south through the pass, coming back to
heal after every fight. Now, once you’ve dispatched the monsters in the area,
after coming back south from the statue, you should turn left, and after
starting to wind around this bend you will hear a rumbling. You watch a ship
approach that seems to be propelled by nothing. A man calls down to you, this
is Leo, the White Knight of Althena and head of her Guard, his ship is the
Dragonship Destiny. After her warns you that a “destroyer” is in the area, and
has a slight spat with Ruby over manners, you hear him says he is heading back
to Grandpa Gwyn’s and decide you’d better get back too, or your butts going to
be in trouble. Just head down to the bottom of the screen, and when it changes
you are now in the southern section of the East Desert Pass.

Enemies: Dung Beatle HP: 5
Sand Cyclops HP: 30
Sand Shark HP: 28
Items/Weapons: Herb(1)
100 Silver(1)
FMV Cut-Scenes: Dragonship Destiny
Once you are in the southern section, after taking out the initial enemy
right at the pass, head left and you should find a chest (these are all
throughout the game, and will be one of the major ways you obtain items and new
weapons etc...) that will have an herb in it, you can use this to heal
yourself. Now, work your way back around to the middle of the area, and then
keep going to the right, which should wind around. When you get to the bottom
of the wind, don’t exit the area, rather turn up and open the chest containing
100 Silver. Now, since there isn’t a statue close enough for you to go back to
anymore, use herbs when you get low on health, and once you’ve fought
everything in both sections of the pass, you should have leveled up to lvl. 7
and obtained Poe Sword. Remember, it is always better to fight all the way
through, and maybe have to go back, but with way more EXP. than to barely scrap
through, and then not be strong enough later. Ok, now head back down and exit
the pass into the Salyan Desert and head up through the World Map until you see
the Outpost and the Destiny parked to its left, and then approach it.

Enemies: N/A
Items/Weapons: Left Opal Jewel
Rusty Dagger (make sure to equip this for Hiro!)
FMV Cut-Scenes: N/A
When you first arrive at the outpost, heal at the statue if you weren’t
already at full health from herbs. Go up the ladder and into the house, where
you will find Leo speaking with your Grandpa, and two other soldiers in the
house. Talk to the two soldiers, and they will fill you in on the “destroyer”
who has apparently been foretold by Althena to come and try to destroy the
world of Lunar. Now head over to Leo and Gwyn, and speak with Leo first, then
Gwyn. Leo is trying to get information on the Spire from Gwyn, who claims to
know nothing, especially how to get into it. After extending an invitation for
Hiro to join Althena’s guard, he will leave the outpost. Gwyn heads up to the
observation deck and calls you, climb up there and you will watch a light
spectacle around the Blue Spire, and Gwyn thinks you’ve just seen the arrival
of the Destroyer. You suggest checking it out (actually you get two options,
but either one will have the same effect) and Gwyn asks you to go into the
basement and get his rusty dagger, head down into the basement and open the
chest containing it. While you’re down in the basement, take some time to check
out the bookshelves, which have some interesting Lunar lore on them. Now once
you’re done, head back up to Gwyn and he will ask you to hold on to the Left
Opal Jewel for him, what he believes will open the Spire. The Spire is due
north of the outpost, so lead the way!

Enemies: Slime HP: 21
Bandage Boy HP: 18
Mummy HP: 46
Brainpicker HP: 55
Items/Weapons: Angels Tear(1)
Starlight(1)
FMV Cut-Scenes: The Blue Spire
When you arrive at the door to the Blue Spire, Gwyn will ask you for the
jewel he gave you back at the outpost and then he puts it into the eye of the
dragon face. The door doesn’t open, so Hiro puts in the stone they found at the
Dragon Ruins, and the door creeks open. Alright, there are three levers that
you need to hit in order to build the bridge that stretches across the chasm in
the middle of the first floor of the labyrinth. They are located in the top
right and bottom left and top left of the navigable area. Do the two on the
left first, so you can just pick up the angels tear as your crossing over to
the one on the right side. Fight all of the enemies on this floor, but don’t
waste your herbs, simply use Gwyn’s healing magic. Once you get across the
bridge (if you didn’t figure it out, to push down the levers just hit X near
them) there is another lever on the right, push that down to disable the force
field door. Now you are in the second area of the Blue Labyrinth. There are
four rooms, each in a corner; they are the Star, Moon, Sun and Mystic rooms,
and each has a floating orb that must be lowered into a chalice, just like the
levers from the last area. There is a starlight in the center of this area,
make sure you fight everything in here as well. When you come upon the Bandage
boys with a Mummy, if you use Poe Sword to kill the Mummy, the rest die as
well, so don’t waste time on the others. Once you have hit all four orbs, go
down to the bottom of the area and step onto the center of the teleporter. This
will bring you up into the Hall of Guardians, head up into the Gardens and heal
at the statue (this is why you used magic instead of wasting items). Once
you’re ready, enter the Spire itself.

FMV Cut-Scenes: Lucia’s Arrival
Lucia’s Confusion
When you get into the first level of the spire, fight all of the monsters
and get the angels tear in the small crevice near the topic middle of the room.
You can go left or right, it doesn’t matter which door you use, they are both
going to the same place. Once you go through one of those doors, fight
everything in the smaller room, and then go through either the bottom right or
bottom left door, again which does not matter. Now, this room is a little
different. First kill everything in it, and then go through the top left door
to get the herb, then come back and go through the top right door to get the
healing nut. Come back again and then go through the middle door, which will
take you into another X shaped room. There will be an herb directly to your
right as you enter this room, fight everything in it and then go through either
the bottom left or bottom right doors. Now in this room, fight everything and
then go to the top left area and get the starlight, then over to the top left,
get the 72$ and then go through that door in the top left. This will take you
into a grand hall with a backdrop of the Blue Star. Head across this and then
through the door at the end of it, and now you are into the very top of the
spire. Gwyn says that there should be a secret passage somewhere in this room,
so you split up to find it. Head to the top of this room, and go to the
miniature floating Lunar globe and hit X, and you will be transported into the
transmission room. Walk up to the green crystal. Now you will witness the
descent of what Leo thinks is the destroyer. A very beautiful girl comes down
through the green crystal and out onto the pedestal. Ruby is frightened and
Hiro is simply in awe of her beauty. She tells them that she is Lucia of the
Blue Star, and it is urgent that she see Althena about a threat to there world.
Hiro agrees to help her, even after Ruby makes a smartass remark, and Lucia
will teleport you back down to the top room where Gwyn is trying to figure out
where you went. When you get back, he realizes that there is no way this girl
could be the destroyer and that Leo had made a mistake, but also knows that if
they allow him to find her, she is done for. So they decide to hurry back down.
When you get back out into the hall, Lucia is angry that there are monsters
within the Blue Spire, and after Hiro tells her he will take care of them, into
battle you go. Anyway, just to save you the trouble, have Hiro and Gwyn simply
defend themselves and Lucia will do the rest. She has got some very potent
magic at her command. Now, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth... take her to
every monster in the whole Spire and Labyrinth (basically just fight everything
on the way back down) and let her kill it for you, EXP doesn’t get easier than
this. Don’t stop until at least Gwyn is at level 12 because you are going to
need Shattered Sword very shortly. By that time Hiro should be at level 11, so
make your way back into the gardens, where Lucia is upset that she cannot sense
the presence of Althena. As if things couldn’t get any worse, a cloud of
darkness falls and Zophar the destroyer can be heard. As Lucia tried to call
forth the power of the four dragons, Zophar informs her that he has sealed away
their power and they are no longer hers to command. After this, he puts a curse
on her, rendering her pretty much a zombie, and that means no more crazy magic
for you. After he leaves, Gwyn says they need to get her back home as soon as
possible so he can see about this curse, so heal at the statue, save, and head
back into the Guardians hall. I lied; things have gotten much worse, as all the
noise seems to have woken up the Guardian.

Alright, now before you go anything, make sure you use the system option to
set the party order with Hiro out in front, and then Lucia and Gwyn way down on
the bottom and all the way back, they cannot take much damage. Hiro should use
Poe Sword (make sure you have the rusty dagger equipped, and shame on you for
not having it done when you first got it a long time ago!). Gwyn will be either
healing, or casting spells the entire fight, never have him use his physical
attack, as it will simply ruin the order. When the Guardian flashes with the
light all around him before the round, have Gwyn cast Shattered Sword, and then
on the next turn cast Broken Armor, to offset the jacked up stats. Lucia won’t
do anything but stand there. When Hiro gets low on HP, have Gwyn use his
litany, you shouldn’t need to waste any herbs. Depending on how much MP Gwyn
has, use Broken Shield a couple times even when the Guardian doesn’t alter his
stats, so Hiro will do more damage. I was able to defeat him in 9 attacks using
a couple of extra spells from Gwyn. After the battle Hiro will most likely
level up to level 12.

Once you have defeated the Guardian, head back through the Labyrinth. It is
really your choice to fight or dash through, but I would recommend fighting
through, levels will come in handy later (you can probably get Hiro to level 13
pretty quickly). Feel free to use your MP though, because you don’t have any
other uses for it at the moment. Anyway, once you exit the Labyrinth you’ve got
another big surprise waiting for you... Your noisy ass woke up the other four
guardians, and as Ruby points out, you barely killed one, so you’re pretty much
screwed. Now, there are two ways to do this: either let Lucia and Gwyn get
fainted out, or have just Hiro get fainted out, either way just pick one of
them. Once one of those scenarios happens, a blinding flash will wipe out all
four guardians (just when you were about to open up a can of whoop ass on them
too) and it is of course Leo and the Dragonship Destiny. After scolding you for
going against his wishes and coming to the Spire, you try to get by, but he
starts to question you about Lucia... Hiro tells a little fib about a monster
attacking her in the Spire and if Leo hurries he can catch it, he falls for it,
and you high tail it back to the Outpost. Heal at the statue when you arrive,
and then go inside. Gwyn will head down to the basement and look for some books
to break the curse, meanwhile you will stay with her, where she informs you
that she is not the destroyer, but she is actually here to SAVE the world from
Zophar. Anyway, Gwyn comes back and tells you there is nothing you can do, but
he remembers a priest named Ronfar who used to live in Larpa, and that you
could go get him to break the curse. Larpa is on the other side of the lake,
but you don’t have time to go on foot in Lucia’s condition, so you will have to
take the sail boat. Gwyn gets it ready, and you have your farewells and then
walk out onto the dock and get on the boat. Sail across the lake (west) and hit
circle to land at the dock there. Now walk south and then a little west to the
village of Larpa.

Lucia Reflects
When you arrive in Larpa, there is really no point in going into the general
store, nothing there is worth buying at the moment (wait until you get to
Dalton to buy better weapons). Head to the saloon, and walk over to the man in
the back right area of it, and talk to him. He claims to not know what you’re
talking about, but is willing to gamble with you. Now head over to the statue
in the right side of town and there is an Angels Tear behind. Go up one level
of stairs, and then talk to the man in front of the house on the far right, and
he will remark about how beautiful Lucia is. Now head to the church, and talk
to a couple priests and they will inform you Ronfar is a heathen and not
welcomed there. Go back to the saloon, and talk to that same man. He is getting
sick of you, but agree to gamble with him about it anyway, do that a couple of
times (you’ll lose) and then say you’ve had enough, and then Lucia will faint.
The man says you can come back to his house to rest with her, and off you go.
His house is on the third level, on the far left, and he will be waiting out in
front of it. There is a note on his door signed LM, he doesn’t seem to mind, so
just head inside with him. As you are talking about the curse on her in the
bedroom, someone knocks on the door, and it happens to be Lord Leo (LM) and
Ronfar just tells you to cool it and he’ll handle it. After almost giving you
away, Ronfar does succeed in hiding you from Leo, but when you come out he
wants to know why you’re helping her. Choose because she needed your help,
they’ll talk a while and then he says you will need a statue of Althena if he
is going to break the curse. Gather up Lucia, you are going to use the trap
door behind his bookshelf to secretly get into the shrine. Head through the
Larpa Pass (the enemies in here aren’t that bad, equip Ronfar with Hiro’s old
knife, he’ll do a little better damage). Anyway, once you’ve gotten to the end
of the first pass there is a chest containing 500 silver, obviously get it.
Head through the door and then through the next hall, and you’ll exit out onto
the ledge overlooking the church. Good news it, you made it through the pass,
bad news is, you have to jump. Say you are ready as you’ll ever be, and then
jump, there is an herb in the chest to the right of where you come down; use it
if you’re hurt from the fighting. Now enter the church via the side door and go
to the statue. Ronfar will try to lift it once, and cannot, which spurs some
bad memories of another curse he couldn’t lift... but this time he refuses to
lose another victim, and gives it his all, and breaks it for the most part. He
could not totally lift it, but she will be fine. Now you can just go out the
front door back to his house, where you will all bed down for the night. When
you wake up that next morning, Lucia is gone, and you can’t wake Ronfar up, so
you better go look for her yourself. Go back to the man’s house who said how
beautiful she was at first, and he will give you Lucia’s Bromide. Then go
inside and talk to his wife, who will relate to you a story about Lucia and her
baby, and directs you to the mayors’ house. Head up the stairs and go all the
way to the left to get to his office, you apparently owe him 30S, but he does
inform you she went down to the Sand Harbor. Get your butt down there, and then
watch the FMV about it, and you will say your farewell to Lucia, who is now
going to travel alone (notice she is reluctant to leave Hiro, she has started
to develop human emotion already). After she leaves, Ronfar comes down, and
can’t believe how stupid you, but now all of you have to go to Dalton to save
her. Dalton is the next destination of the Dragonship Destiny...

Alright so you are going to need to depart from Larpa and head through a bit
of the Salyan Desert into the West Desert Pass. You might as well fight the
monsters in here, they’re nothing special if you have a couple herbs and use
Ronfar’s healing abilities wisely. Right smack dab in the center of the pass
there is a chest containing 300 Silver, get it! You are going to need this to
buy some new equipment in Dalton. After that, exit the pass and then just
follow the Salyan Desert to the entrance to the town of Dalton.

Alright, once you get into Dalton you will notice that there is a statue of
the goddess all smashed up; don’t waste your money healing at it. You’ll see
Lucia being subdued by Leo after she fights off some of his men, but don’t
worry she isn’t hurt. As you come in under the tunnel, right at the exit of it
there is a pretty blatant chest containing an herb. Head into the Dalton
General Store (denoted by the signs of armor and weapons and pretty much
upgrade what you can afford to. Once you’re done shopping, head up the stairs
to the left of its exit and enter the building straight off the top of them,
there is a starlight in these peoples house, I don’t think they’ll mind you
borrowing it. Now come out of there and go to the first bridge station and pass
onto the bridge. Head into the next bridge checkpoint and get the dagger out of
the second room in it. Now make your way to the Dragonship Destiny, its game
time buddy. Once you are aboard the ship, head to the rear door and you will
find a nice free statue to heal at (also a good save point). Now here’s the
deal, you are basically just going to fight through two levels of Captains and
Privates and eventually you’ll know when you get to where you’re going. This is
a good way to level up, so don’t complain about being forced to fight.
Remember, you can go back to the statue at any time, and the enemies will not
regenerate, so this should pretty much be a cake walk for you. Once you’ve
fought all the way through, you’ll come upon Leo and Lucia as she is being
locked up. You’re going to let Lucia out, and then Leo starts to come back, so
Ronfar decides to lock him up. After failing to talk some sense into Leo after
his jailing, Ronfar decides you’d best head for the Illusion Woods to lay low
for a while. Make a note, when you are fighting the captain, you might as well
just use magic every time, otherwise there is a good chance he will parry
you’re regular sword attack, and if there are enough of them, possible give you
the old one two KO.

Ok so you’re not quite to the Illusion Woods yet, but you’re almost there,
you’re in the Starlight Forest. The monsters in this particular forest are not
that strong, and the weaker ones (Green Goblins) actually call more of their
own to fight you, so just fight everything in here. Explore the entire area,
get the herb and the silver, which is a big plus to you’re fledgling bank
account, and then move on to the Star Dragon Tower clearing. But wait, alas
has Lucia’s power returned, making your life 10 billion times easier? Yes and
no. True, she will now attack monsters that attack her directly or throw up a
magic barrier now and then, but nothing special. When you get to the tower,
Ronfar is going to go do some scouting and Hiro and Lucia have a little heart
to heart about why he is helping her, and even I have to admit how cheesy this
gets, but enjoy.

Alright now you’ve made your way to the Illusion Woods, a little more
dangerous and longer than the Starlight Forest, but if you’ve been leveling up
you shouldn’t be in too dire straights. When you get to the entrance there is a
statue, heal here and then save. Now you need to talk to the woodsman who
Ronfar apparently cheated out of his house, and now dupes him into gambling
again to show you the way through, which of course Ronfar wins from him. So he
will show you how to move through the thickets and shortly after you depart
into the woods Leo and his troops will come rumbling through and after the
quickest search in the history of law enforcement, conclude that you are no
where to be found. You’ve got your first real boss coming up shortly, so I
would recommend that you fight everything throughout the woods, as there is
also an abundance of herbs, but try to use Ronfar’s magic and save the items.
So once you get to the top of the third section of the woods, you should hear
some music, and you’ll come across a dancing festival of some sort. When it’s
over, you’ll end up speaking with the dancer, Jean and her pimp Giban. Just
kidding, Giban is actually the leader of the Caravan, a traveling circus of
sorts that is somewhat on the outs with Althena’s chosen as well, kind of a
“Footloose”-esque “we hate dancing” kind of outs. Anyway, you’ll be offered
refuge for the night, and when Jean goes off to cool down, you being the nosey
meddling kids you are go off to ask her questions.

FMV Cut-Scenes: Althena’s Spring
Alright, after the nights excitement of Lucia almost being taken down under
by a giant vine tentacle everyone will bed down for the night. When you wake
up, Ronfar returns to you and Ruby notes something is different, he’s taken a
bath, there’s a cement pond about folks. Head to the hot springs, and the man
there says boys to the left, girls to the right. Well, I’ll just let you watch
this one for yourself. Anyway, after leaving the springs, makes sure to collect
the life jewel and even though you don’t need to, heal and save for good luck.
Now when you go back, more vines are going to start stealing Jeans friends, and
Giban is one of the ones taken. As Hiro and gang plan to journey to the center
of the earth, Jean is reluctant to fight, saying that is all in her past, well
after another cheese ball pep talk Hiro talks her into joining them and down
you go. Make your way through the Plantela’s Lair, you can run or fight, either
way you can just heal with Herbs or magic, so its your call. Now, before you
confront what is obviously a rip-off from Little Shop of Horrors (c’mon guys,
really) put Hiro off buy himself to the far right, and everyone else the
opposite (use the order command in the tactics menu thing).

Now the Plantela actually has three forms, but it doesn’t matter because they
are HO triggered and you’re total amount inflicted is always going to be the
same. Hiro should of course use Poe Sword his latest and greatest attack at the
moment. Ronfar should cast Saint Litany on Hiro his first turn and can throw
Anger Dice (great damage) when no one needs medical attention, but other wise
he should use his Litany’s to see that everyone stays conscious. Jean, with her
cat like speed will attack first, so she can use herbs if necessary to make
sure everyone is ok, and use Moth or Bee Dance, but usually Moth since it takes
less MP. Once the Plantela is dead Jean joins your party, and Giban and
everyone are saved. Plus, now the vines blocking your way are gone, so you can
proceed on to Takkar.

illustrious shopping district which encompasses just about the whole right hand
side of the town, which is a whopping 2 buildings! Once you’re shopping pick up
the starlight from behind the building on the far left side of town. There is
also a statue, so if anyone needs it heal up and get the holy water just below
it on the fence line. Basically, you’re going to need to bar, and speak to the
woman in the druidic cloak and hood, then go talk to the guy at the gate, and
then after almost giving yourselves away and finding out that you’re stuck,
you’ll be approached again. There is another way out of town, and you need to
get out since Leo is on his way. Only problem: it goes through a haunted
mansion. Well seeing as you’re magically inclined this shouldn’t be too bad,
right? Anyway, get the Passion Fruit from the bar before you go, and then head
up the path. You’ll see the girl tell herself she’ll have to hurry if she is
going to beat you there, so obviously you’ve been duped. Which isn’t all that
surprising considering the company you’re in now is it?

statues until AFTER the next boss, so just watch your step there Gandalf. Head
up the winding pass picking up the two rings and you’ll come to the top and see
the entrance to the ghost manor, not much of a mansion is it? So I exaggerated
a little, what did you want Rose Red? Anyway, save and enter the “building.”

Ok, now different people will all probably give you different ways to go
about traversing the bowls of the Ghost Manor. Basically, when you come in
there is one hallway going horizontally that has 4 more hallways branching off
of it vertically, only the one to the left, closest to where you entered takes
you to where you really want to go. BUT, before you go this way, hit the other
three for the items. Some people say do to the lack of MP you probably have
skip them, but to really complete the game, go get’em tiger! Anyway, once you
have retrieved those 3 articles just head down the last hall and pick up the
herb and the starlight, the 2nd starlight is just before you enter the boss
chamber. The enemies here are kind of more annoying than deadly, but that makes
them more dangerous, if that makes any sense. Susie won’t roll over your
wallet, but she will your MP, so get rid of her quickly. Rolling Imps are a
pain as are Knuckle Busters because they try to force you to use MP, sparingly
only though! Once you get to the 2nd starlight, save after you acquire it. Now
go back to the group position thing and stick jean to the far left, and
everyone else to the far right, and spread the other 3 out so they don’t all
get hit by a closely cropped group attack. Once you’ve done this go in and
confront... a wind up toy?

When fighting the Magic Tester, Hiro will downgrade and use Boomerang which for
some reason does more damage, I guess due to the Testers bad balance? Ronfar
will be your healer and can roll the bones, but for his first turn he should
cast Saint Litany on Jean like you did for Hiro earlier to help out with
healing periodically. Jean should use Moth dance again, no real reasoning, just
the cheapest for what you get. Basically it has 3 forms and you’re going to
have to just outlast him. According to Zach Meston and the WD guys, the AI can
beat it 50% of the time, but the problem with that is you can’t control what
items get used, so proceed there at your own risk. Now a lot of people have
trouble with this boss, probably due to the lack of big time vulnerabilities it
has and your small amount of MP, well all anyone can really tell you is keep
trying, and note its tendencies, such as when it is floating and sparking, it
will hit everyone with a crazy spiral beam. Once you’ve defeated the Tester,
the girl from Takkar calls you idiots and then introduced herself as Lemina
Ausa, Junior Premiere of the Magic Guild of Vane. She will attempt to persuade
you into joining the guild, and then join your party to speed along what you
have to do that is stopping you from joining. Then she will try to take you
down a mountain on a magic carpet, and that’s never a good idea.

MAKING SURE to pick up the items here, and when you exit, you’ll find yourself

feel you’re low on. Also be sure to sell back the old stuff after you equip the
new, this will also help you out in a few minutes. Anyway, once you’re done
shopping, head out onto the middle of the bridge that connects East and West
Nota. Before going out talk to the man at the desk, he’ll tell you about a time
when people used to have weddings out on it and how happy those days were, but
now they’re gone, remember that in like 40 hours of game play. Ok, back to the
present. Leo and the destiny have caught up with you, but you manage run off
the bridge and apparently have time for a discussion. During this dramatic
oratory Ronfar comes to the conclusion that “this really sucks.” Then Jean
mentions that Giban and the rest of the carnies are around and they have a

When you arrive at the Carnival, there is a statue, although there is really

to my pawning madness back in East Nota. There happens to be a little gambling
tent in the carnival, and that extra money is going to make you some extra
dollar baby! Save just before you go in, so if you win big, quit and save
again, if you lose just load up the old save, and it’s all good. Anyway, when
you’re done pretending to be Dean Martin, go collect the chests in the area and
then talk to Giban back by the far left tent in the northern section of the
Carnival. He’ll get the basic story that something is wrong when Leo busts onto
the scene, but Giban weasels his way out of it. Then he suggests that Lucia get
some new duds, and you and Ronfar head up to the middle tent with proceeds with
you watching some cut-scenes. Anyway, when all is said and done you’ll head
back to the arrow and talk to the old man, and you’ll start to load her up.
But, just before you’re all in Leo comes back and in his infinite wisdom
decides to change the arrows course so he DOESN’T KNOW WHERE ITS GOING, rather
than allow it to travel on its already plotted course, making catching you ten
billion times easier, that crazy Leo! Anyway, the arrow flies off and of course
crashes after much commentary. Now do note that Ruby, who can actually fly of

The Entrance
When everyone recovers enough to walk and after everyone makes cornball
comments about stomachs being settled and such, you head out onto a large roof
with a seal that Lucia claims is very ancient, which accounts for Lemina and
her magical skills not recognizing it. Anyway, Lucia evokes even more awe from
Lemina when she uses one of Althena’s sacred spells to discard the seal and
allow entrance to the ruins. Walk out onto the seal and everyone will be
transported into what appears to be a room with a film projector in it, so sit
back and watch the show. Now, for all of you Lunar historians, or just people
who played the first Lunar, you know all to well what is going on in this
picture, if not I don’t want to ruin anything for you so read the explanation
of this film at your own risk.
******* Lunar 1 Spoilers *******
Ok, if you’ve decided to read this you either know what the film is already
about via having played Lunar 1 or you just don’t care and really want to know.
The girl you see is the Goddess Althena, in the form of Luna while she is being
controlled by the Magic Emperor also known as the Sage Ghaleon. The black tank
like machine you see was called the Grindery, it was designed to knock Vane
down from the sky (which as you can see it does). The tower you see Althena
raising is another building you’ll become familiar with, it is the Goddess
Tower. The boy in the red and white helmet opposing Ghaleon was the last of the
true Dragonmasters, Alex. The four you see at the end watching the explosion of
the Grindery are Kyle, Jessica, Mia, and Nash. They were the traveling
companions of Alex.
******* End of Spoilers *******
Anyway, back to what was going. After watching the film real you’ll hear a
voice claiming credit for that little piece of film, and so he hath returned,
the Magic Emperor Ghaleon emerges from the shadows! Although is intentions are
not yet clear, he doesn’t harm you and allows you to pass further on into the
ruins. Now, although the enemies in here can be pretty tough, you really need
to try to fight as much as possible, not only for the experience, but for the
silver you’re going to need to update your arsenal. The main hall of the ruins
is like a giant puzzle, and it really doesn’t matter what order you go in as
long as you go into both side rooms and pick up the chest on one of the
floating tablets in the lower left area. Once you have traversed the entire
area, head to the door directly opposite the one you came in (right across) and
exit through it out into the secret garden (no not THE secret garden). Anyway,
talk to all of the fairies there, and you’ll find out some things you probably
didn’t know if this is your first time through the game. Apparently Ghaleon
created this place and used sacred spells to seal it off (via the spell on the
door you teleported through) and did it to protect the fairies. They gush about
him being so kind and great, but can this be the same Ghaleon who bent the
Goddess Althena to his evil deeds and brought Vane down from the sky? Anyway,
When you’re read to leave Lucia will break the sacred seal on the door and out
you go back to the world map.
Alright once you get out of the Mystic Ruins/Garden, there are two places
you can head to. First, you can go to the carnival and talk to everyone etc,
but there is really nothing you NEED to do there. Next, you need to head to
West Nota via East Nota. However, on the way you’ll be intercepted by Lord Leo
and his troops on the Dragonship Destiny, and held at gunpoint. But, with a
little assist from Ghaleon, you are able to pass freely through the pass. When
you get to West Nota, there is some shopping for you to attend to, and you
should have plenty of silver after all of the recent fighting. Basically, you
want to buy one of everything in the weapon shop (2 silver hairpins if you
didn’t get one already in a dungeon) and then equip the new weapons and sell
back the old ones. After you obtain all of the chests in West Nota, head down
to the first level (above ground level) and talk to the man by where you got
the Life Jewel, and remember what he says for much later! So now your course is
Azado, from there you should be able to set sail for the Holy City and Althena,
so go north out of West Nota.

While Zulan might seem like any other small mountain town caught in a never
ending blizzard, trust me on this one it is unique, but we’ll get to that
later. When you arrive in Zulan, the old man will inform you of the storm, and
then you should head to the armor and weapon shop, and get the 2 new weapons
first, and then whatever you can afford of the armor (note: plate armor is in
the chest in the mayors home, you can get that and sell it if necessary).
Anyway, once you’ve gone shopping and scoured the town’s treasures, you might
also notice that the exit that will allow you to pass through to Azado is off
limits. So you need to go see what kind of deal you can finagle with the Mayor
to get out of here. Head to the top story of the central building (his home)
and speak with him, and agree to slay the monster that is causing this storm
and will allow you to pass once it ends. Now three things happen here: first
Lucia feels that time is to short and she must now go on to see the Goddess
without you. Two, Lucia starts to show her first signs of deep human emotion as
she is forced to part ways with Hiro. And three, where the hell is she going, I
thought the exit was blocked off?... Anyway you’ll need to head out the exit
near the statue up into the mountains.
The mountains aren’t quite the kind of dungeon you might be used to (in fact
you haven’t gone through a REAL Lunar 2 dungeon yet at all). Basically what
you’re going to have to do is pick the right cave doors to burn open and then
pass through sections of the mountain and climb certain outside parts to get to
the top. You can either guess and check your way through (how the game should
be played) or you can look at the list that is below this paragraph telling the
right doors. Beware, if you open the wrong one and unavoidable monster fight
ensues. Make sure to hit all of the chests, and I mean ALL of them, they are
all very important items trust me. Also, as you’re going through, don’t waste
any items, you’re health and magic will be totally restored before you fight
the “snow monster.” Ok so fast-forward and I’ll assume you’ve made it to the
high clearing (the top). You’re going to catch wind of some noises that sound
pretty close and are coming from something pretty nasty, but you get caught in
an avalanche! (This kind of thing happens to me every week). As everything goes
black, you hear a familiar voice, yes that’s Lucia. She was killed by Leo after
exiting the town, and now that you’re party is dead you all have to find the
Goddess Potion to come back to life... actually I’m just kidding, you’re not
dead at all! Lucia wakes Hiro and Ruby up, and explains that she just couldn’t
bear to leave him (she is showing her first signs of love towards Hiro, like we
mentioned earlier). After this you will walk around and wake up the rest of the
group. RIGHT after she wakes up Ronfar, save. Now, go into Tactics and position
the party so that they make a backwards E without the line in the middle. Hiro
and Jean should be the two on the left (give her the barrier ring) and then
spread the other three out on the back line as to avoid cluster damage. Now
head up to face the Missing Link!

Ok hopefully you positioned the party like I said before you engaged what
appears to be Working Designs version of the abominable snowman. This is pretty
simple: Lemina who is your elemental magician needs to use Flame Shot the
entire time; she will do very good damage. Hiro, you’re not so brawny swordsman
should attack with Poe Sword the entire time (get used to that buddy). Have
Jean use Herbs to heal when necessary (if you put her up top it will probably
be on her anyway) and use her normal attack when you can afford to. Now having
Jean heal allows Ronfar to throw Anger Dice which can do potentially over 100
damage. Also note that this is the first battle Lucia will actually participate
in seriously since the Spire. She will use Napalm Shot and other healing and
defensive spells. This should be a very easy fight for you.
After defeating the Link, you’ll see a girl passed out nearby and between
the 5 of you come to the stunning conclusion that it’s the missing girl, Maria.
She even has the coveted grass in her hand, so let’s go save a baby eh? Anyway,
you will kind of magically appear back at the Mayor’s house, but there is one
little problem. As you found out when she woke up on the mountain, Maria has
lost her memory and thinks she is going to travel with you, and leave the baby
she doesn’t think is hers behind. Luckily the baby starts to cry and averts her
emotions and allows you to make a clean getaway, rescue well done. Anyway, head
south to Meribia, home of the Martial Arts guru Master Lunn.

While Meribia isn’t quite the same town as in Lunar 1, it still holds its
share of things to do. After getting what chest you can before entering the
Dojo, head around the shops and have a look see, get what you can for the best
values (I’m going to spare you the best increases for your money speech). Now,
when you’re done dinking around and hitting the bars, head into the great Dojo,
where after witnessing Master Lunn’s ultra patient teaching techniques (he’s SO
compassionate I can’t get over it) he will introduce himself, and you’ll head
back to his office to speak. Now before we get into that, what in the world is
with this guys voice? We’ve got freaking leatherface on our hands. Anyway, Jean
will relay the whole story of the assassins art and the cult and he tells you
there is a band of banded bandits (ok so he didn’t say banded) up on Taben’s
Peak that matches that description, and that you should go investigate so he
can have the evidence to lead an attack on their hideout. So after you wrap
things up with him, make sure you don’t need anymore supplies and head on out
to Taben’s Peak (Northeast).

Taben’s Peak might seem like just your run of the mill destroyed 1000 year
old grindery inhabited by orphan children and led by Rufio from Peter Pan, but
you’ve got to look deeper! The enemies here aren’t that tough, and you are
going to need the experience pretty soon, so fight everything on the way up.
When you arrive (after thwarting perilous dangers and threats) at the peak, you
will again be confronted by the boy with the strange Rufio resemblance, his
name is Nall (for anyone who played Lunar 1, the answer to your question is
yes). You will be caught by the runts in a giant net and taken down into their
“fort” for the night. Where the hell did they get a prison cell? Anyway, after
some brief conversation and universally deciding that this was NOT the cult,
you all drift off for some sleepy beepy. When you awake, all of the others will
be off working somewhere, you can go into the main dining hall and talk to
them, or just head upstairs to Nall’s “chambers” where he is having a somewhat
elusive conversation with Lucia. While you’re in there, you hear some creams
from up in the play yard, and Nall rushes out after some foul language. You and
the others converse quickly and head out to see what’s wrong. The cult is
taking Dragon Kids?! After the kids are taken, Jean explains everything about
the cult and her past to Nall, who then keeps Lucia with him and sends you to
save the kids to verify you’re story. They are rumored to hide out in the
Meribian Sewers, you can go in through Ramus’ store. Head to Meribia (take the
gondola down) after you plunder the rest of the Taben’s Peak chests.

The sewers are a necessary part of the game for Jeans plot, and to do some
leveling up and item gaining, but god is it annoying, and even more boring.
Basically what you have to do is explore all of the hallways in the sewer, and
hit the blue switches to lower the corresponding bridge. All the while you need
to be leveling up and collecting chests. By the time you get to the door that
has 2 chests with Starlights around it, you need to have atleast the highest
members of you’re party at 27 and the rest can be at 26 (generally 2-3 of your
party are a level higher than the others). Now, make sure you’re all healed up
and read to go before you enter this door, this is a good save point. When you
get into, you’ll be in a larger clearing and you will be confronted by the
masked man and his assassins who just happen to be passing through the sewer at
the same time as you (what took them so long to get back, you wen’t through a
sewer gauntlet). Anyway the masked man is to wussy to fight, so he sends his
four thugs. This is a pathetically easy fight, these guys are probably VERY
lucky Nall wasn’t able to get a hold of them. Hiro should attack with Poe Sword
every turn, Lemina should use freeze claw everytime, Jean should use a sleeping
spell while Ronfar can throw the destiny dice. Heal when necessary, but this
fight shouldn’t really last more than 5 rounds. On her first attack, have Jean
use a poisoning spell, she can get three of them for the extra damage at the
end of the rounds. When they have been defeated you are awarded a whopping 1280
EXP points and the man in the mask (after having it kicked off his face by
Jean) challenges you to a tournament of death in Horam. When you get to the
kids they run back to Taben’s Peak, and Lunn is “conveniently” in Pentagulia.
Now how in the hell did he get there in like half an hour and you’ve been
trying to get there for how many weeks? And another thing, now how many people
in the world can have a voice as dumb as Lunn’s, and how does the masked guy
have like the same voice? HMMMM... Anyway, head back to Taben’s Peak, and then
speak with Nall. Go round up Lucia, note her again conforming to human emotion
with the children and her singing, and then head on out to Vane (the path is
now clear). As you are leaving Nall will give the White Dragon Wings, which
allow you to transport out of caves and such, and never run out, very useful.
He also gives Ruby some words of advice on being the Red Dragon, although she
doesn’t seem to catch on. So off to Vane we go.

Upon your arrival to the magic city of Vane, you will have a woman rush out
to greet Lemina, apparently a wizard named Borgan has taken a liking to
Lemina’s mother and his magicians then don’t allow you to enter the city.
However, Lemina knows of another way to get into the city, so head south down
to the spring of transmission, which used to be the only way into Vane when it
was up in the sky and without a grounded entrance. However there is one catch
with this secret entry, as all who wished to tryout for the guild had to do,
after using the spring you must go through the Cave of Trials, which is also
featured in the first Lunar. The caves are not all that difficult to traverse,
as none of the monsters in the cave are really powerful, and you don’t have the
added burden of needing to preserve MP for a boss fight directly after. Once
you get the thieves staff from the fifth cavern of the caves (its at the
bottom, right side) you might as well fight through as much as you can, this is
easy leveling. Hopefully you’re around 26-27 when you enter, and definitely at
least need to have your highest at 27 by the time you leave, so this is a good
place to make up on EXP if you’ve been slacking. When you exit the last cavern
of the caves, you will be in the legendary city of Vane. When you finally get
into the city, you can’t take the chests just yet, but be patient. There are
several shops you should visit, although Black Rose Street isn’t looking quite
like it used too. Go into the Magic Guild (largest building) and you’ll find
Borgan and Miria in there speaking. Lemina will have some heated words with
Borgan, who precedes to teleport her mother up to Neo-Vane where he plans to
make her his queen. Lemina is heartbroken that she was not strong enough to
stop Borgan from taking her mother, and she goes up to the roof of the guild,
where you too should go and give her a pep talk, which gets her back on board.
Now you can plunder all of the chests and then your business is pretty much
finished in Vane, leave and head mainly south down to the Water Ruins.

Well, I lied a little since you aren’t quite to the Water Ruins, first you
must pass through the Sluice Forest. The enemies in here are pretty strong, but
this is a great place to gain some experience points, because there is a
goddess statue once you get to the Ruins, so feel free to use the most potent
stuff you’ve got. After picking up the three chests and then arriving that the
water ruins (I recommend you fight EVERYTHING in the forest as well) Lemina
will inform you that the flood door isn’t open and it’s to cold to swim across,
but that the water is so high she thinks it should be gone by morning, so
everyone will make camp. Ronfar tells a few ghost stories before most everyone
wanders off to sleep. In the middle of the night Hiro wakes up and sees that
Lucia is gone, she has left a note that thanks him, but says she has to go on
to Azado alone to face Leo! By the way, that was a lie too. She’s actually
swimming in the water that was apparently to cold to go across, and Hiro
decides to stare at her, causing her to freak out and then an awkward morning
in which Hiro almost lets the cat out of the bag. However, in the morning the
water is low enough for you to pass, so move across the stone gathering and
back to the world map, then head for the city of Azado.

FMV Cut-Scenes: Destiny Debate
Well, when you arrive in Azado there is A LOT of stuff you’re going to have
to do so you might as well collect all of the chests first thing. Next check
out the shops and when you’re done with your transactions, head to the shrine,
where the group will note the very creepy giant statue of Althena, that seems
oddly out of place. When you get there, Ronfar will talk with the man who says
he is the high priest, and he is also an old friend of Ronfar’s, who thinks
he’s joking and can’t believe that old man Balse, has been replaced as high
priest for going against the teachings of Althena. Jamil (the current high
priest) thanks Ronfar though for all the times he helped him and stuck up for
him when they were younger. He also informs the group that Ronfar was somewhat
of a teachers pet and everyone though HE would be the first high priest of the
group. He also informs you that Balse’s house in the one with the red roof, so
you can go see him if you wish, but it might not be beneficial for your long
term health. When you get to Balse’s house talk to his son Porom, which will
prompt Balse coming out and then asking you to come inside when he recognizes
Ronfar. Inside he will tell you that the Chosen have gone completely berserk in
Azado, and that Lady Mauri (we’ll touch on this again later) is to blame.
Apparently she believed the people of Azado were not following Althena’s ways,
so at night fire gets sprayed on them to teach them a lesson. It is no longer
safe to walk the streets at night in Azado, which gives you the perfect time to
sneak out to a boat which Balse has arranged for you. As you’re speaking Porom
comes in and says he’s going off to play (oh I bet he is...) and then Balse
asks you to stay and rest. If you have all of the chests and went shopping
already, you might as well accept, if not go do what you need to and then come
back and accept. After a while it will be night and he will give you directions
to the boat. Leave his house and head to the docks and get on the only boat
with a gangway. Looking strangely familiar, they hesitantly board the ship
until Ruby causes a commotion and brings Leo and the guard down on them! After
a minor scuffle Hiro and Leo have some words, and as he is going to kill Lucia
and flame bursts in the sky and the town is engulfed in flames. Now Leo knows
what Ronfar said about Mauri might be true. Now for some side notes on Mauri,
she is Leo’s sister and one of the four heroes, and she was Ronfar’s girlfriend
for a long, long time, but when he tried to cure her of an ailment she seemed
to change to evil ways and he always blamed himself. Fast-forward to present,
Leo takes Ronfar and Hiro to go try to put out whatever is creating this flame.
Now before you can even get to the tower, you have to fight through the Ghouls,
but luckily there is a statue, so you can just kill some and then return
without them regenerating. Once you get to Balse’s house and Ronfar heals him,
Porom tells how he told the chosen you were there to try and help his father,
little dork. Anyway, you’ve got to get to the tower, so finish off the ghouls,
heal one last time and then force the priest blocking the door to allow you to
enter. Now you are going to fight a lot, but luckily if you just come back down
to the statue that costs 100 silver, the monsters in the tower don’t come back,
so do this when you really need too. Head up the tower until you get to the
room with three doors and a starlight. When you go, get the starlight and then
go to the second door on the right of the one you came out of, this will have
you going back down another set of tower stairs, but collecting some very
valuable items. When you get all the way down (when you get the ring and crest)
just use Ronfar’s spell to go back to the beginning of the dungeon and heal at
the statue. Now head back up the first way you went, and when you get to the
room that had the starlight and 3 doors, this time go in the first door on the
right. Collect the healing nut in this room and then go into the door to the
left of the one you came in, this will take you to the top of the tower. Get
the silver light and head out the door. Save here, it’s time to fight the fire
baby.

Use the order command to have Ronfar and Leo up at the top of the screen,
with Leo to the far left and Ronfar all the way back, then have Hiro the far
left down at the bottom of the screen. Have Hiro equipped with the healing ring
and crest. Hiro should attack with Poe Sword on every turn, you shouldn’t run
out of MP. Leo should use Flash Blade, he shouldn’t run out of MP either. Have
Ronfar cast saint litany on Leo in the first round, on himself in the second,
and then just use Calm Litany every single turn. You will be doing about 500
damage every round like this, and you never have to heal with items, so it
should take about 10 rounds and then you’re done with the fire Phoenix. Once it
is extinguished, you see what the light in the torch was really supposed to
look like, and the fire in the city is put out.
Head back down to the Destiny and then after pleading with Leo about letting
the girls go, and after he acts like he is going to kill her, he releases them,
and says he will give them safe passage to Pentagulia so Althena can decide the
fate of Lucia. And its about this time that Mauri shows up, and chides Leo and
then decides to try and flame the whole ship, to which the White Knight puts a
quick stop to, being the stronger of the two. Then Mauri is told to not
interfere and she sarcastically agrees, and then leaves, putting Leo and Ronfar
in a very bad mood. But, you’re off to Pentagulia! On the boat you can talk to
everyone, and then head up and you’ll call to Lucia but she runs away from you,
then Hiro lies to Ruby to have to time with Lucia when he sees her up on deck,
then they talk a bit. Hiro, obviously not understanding that Lucia cannot stay
when her task is complete, thinks the mission ending is great, but Lucia who
has developed emotion completely by now, realizes that when it’s over she won’t
see her friends, Hiro in particular anymore and is a jumble of emotions.
Finally becoming frustrated by not being able to relate to him things he cannot
even conceive of about Zophar she just runs off and tells her to leave him
alone, and he responds with his classic “Lucia?...” response. When you arrive
at Pentagulia, or rather when it’s spotted, its time to enter Disc 2. Simply
open the Playstation 1 or 2 and put it in then close it, don’t hit reset or the
game will reset back to your last save.

When you get to Pentagulia Leo will depart the ship and tells you he is off
to secure you a meeting with Althena. However, before he can do so Ghaleon, who
is apparently now a Dragonmaster appears and questions Leo’s loyalties in
bringing Lucia and her friends to the city. It is also at this point that Lucia
realizes Ghaleon might have actually been keeping a watchful eye out for them
on their journey but can’t fathom why. Anyway, Leo heads off and now it’s time
to say your goodbyes for the moment. Everyone is heading off to fix the
problems in there lives, and in the end Hiro and Lucia along with Ruby are left
to go and see the goddess. Head up to the main tower where you will see Leo,
and he will escort you in to see Althena. When Althena is entering Lucia
immediately senses something is wrong, and is quick to ask “Althena” who she is
and what she’s done with the real Althena. When she doesn’t hear what she
wants, she tried to send a fireball at her, which Ghaleon easily deflects and
then puts Lucia down. Hiro, outraged that she has been assaulted, quickly jumps
into a fight with Ghaleon while Leo apparently stand dumbfounded and watches.

It should be fairly obvious that you cannot beat Ghaleon in your present
state, he was a sage and a magic emperor for gods sake. He will take away
you’re MP, and DON’T WASTE ANY TYPE OF ITEM you can’t win this battle anyway.
Just keep attacking him, he’ll say things are getting interesting, he’ll draw
his sword, you’ll last a few attacks and then he eventually beats you. Then he
shoots his mouth off at “Althena” and tells her he isn’t he lapdog, and that
the title Dragonmaster does not amuse him. Leo who apparently didn’t pick up on
that little quarrel saves Hiro’s life, but does not fend for Lucia. When you
wake up you will be imprisoned in some sort of electric cage.
Ok now when you completely come to, Ruby will tell you that the last time
she saw Lucia was when she was laid out on the floor, and then they brought you
here. When you realize there’s no way for you to get out of your cell, Leo
comes to the rescue, or rather a masked version of Leo named “Mystere” Leo will
swing across the chasm and then release you from your cage, however he didn’t
extend the bridge, and luckily before he tries to jump across Ruby flies over
and extends it. Now you and he need to battle out and collect ALL of the items
and fight ALL of the bosses, don’t worry about using MP there is a statue just
outside your tower. Now all of your friends to have met similar fates as they
are all also locked in one of the towers, the one corresponding to which of the
four heroes they were betrayed by. First head to the Red tower, Ronfar is in
there and being able to heal will make fighting through the others much
simpler. After you’ve retrieved Ronfar and collected all of the red tower
chests and fought ALL the monsters in the red tower, go get Lemina from the
black tower, and then likewise Jean from the blue. Once you have everyone, all
of the chests, all the new gear equipped, and have fought everything, head up
to the statue and heal FROM THE SIDE OF IT, because after Leo realizes this was
the secret passage you’ve been looking for. Head through the passage and then
through the hall on the left side of the next room, and you’ll see Ghaleon and
Althena both speaking with Lucia who is tied up to the wall. Ghaleon laughs
that Lucia would even think to rely on humans, but has he already forgotten
that it was humans who put down his little Magic Emperor thing? (SEE SPOILERS
BELOW FOR SUPER-HUGE SPOILER, IF IT’S YOUR FIRST TIME DON’T READ IT!) Anyway
when they’re done chatting go down and save her. Leo has already run off to
confront “Althena” about the Chosen being a “tool” of destruction and such.
Anyway once she’s down you’ve got to hurry if you’re doing to release the real
Althena which Lucia fears is trapped somewhere in the city. Follow her around
until you come to ledge where she can see through the illusion and the true
fifth tower and everyone will jump off. When you get down there, everyone
agrees to go in with her but you can’t and then trouble shows up. However
Ghaleon is done being a lapdog and doesn’t come right when he’s called, so this
allows some the white dragon wings to start glowing and transport you to where
else, Taben’s Peak! Back in Pentagulia Ghaleon makes fun of the false Althena
while Zophar reveals the rest of his plans for the moment, and ignores Ghaleons
advice on what they should do. Back on Taben’s Peak Nall reveals the story of
how he is the White Dragon, Ruby is the Red Dragon, and that both of them have
lost their Dragon Aura’s, so they are powerless to help. However the aura’s can
be released and retrieved and you should start with his. Everyone agrees to
join up again to save Lunar and he tells you that Leo has his, and that you
must go face him somewhere near Vane, take the Gondola down, and then head near
Vane and board the Destiny.
*****SPOILERS*****
The reason Ghaleon taunts her with the prospect of relying on humans when he
well knows they are capable of anything (especially after Alex defeated him) is
because he is secretly trying to guide her down the same path Alex and his
friends had to use, harnessing the power of humankind to defeat much greater
odds. Although she does not realize it at the time, he has been trying to taunt
and provoke her along the right course the entire way.

Leo really isn’t all that hard to beat, he’s actually very easy to take
down. You only need to hit him with Poe Sword four consecutive times to bring
him down, the problem is after three the first time he will heal himself
totally. If you are equipped with the healing crest and ring you really
shouldn’t have to heal yourself because you will also gain HP on his off turns.
After he heals once you should be able to get in the four consecutive, if not
just keep going and only heal if you really need to. Once you’ve beaten him he
will give you the destiny, and tell you how to get to the White Dragon Cave,
where you can release the power of the White Dragon.

The White Dragon Cave has a lot of great items, and since I didn’t tell you
exactly where each was (and for this exact purpose) you need to explore the
entire place to get them all. Now, to fight the boss for this dungeon you are
going to need to be at 34-33, so level up as if necessary. One thing I like to
do is just fight the whole way through and collect all the chest and just use
MP as necessary, get to the level you need to be, use the Dragon Wings to go
back to the Destiny, heal and then just run through, or if you’re close to
another level fight as necessary. This allows you to level up, get the chests,
and then still have good stats for the boss. Now do note that the Mecha Stars
will throw crap at you, if you get hit you fall and they can catch up to you.
In a couple places you are going to have to use this to your advantage. When
chests are trapped behind ice walls, you need to either get the Yeti’s to
charge and break them, or lure the Mecha’s to shooting through them. DON’T KILL
THEM ALL before the walls are broken, or you’ll have to leave the whole dungeon
to regenerate them. For the next boss, Jean is only going to be using her
normal attack, so use Lemina’s Thieves staff to steal Shiro and Chiro crests.
When you put the warrior crest with the Seal Crest it doesn’t let her use magic
and crazy boosts her regular attack (she didn’t need the magic anyway). Once
you get to where you see the boss, which appears to be a white dragon, but
Lucia senses its not THE white dragon, so save, heal up, dish out MP as needed
and then get ready to engage!

Basically what you need to do before starting this battle, is move jean all
the way close to the fiend, and then everyone else to the back right boundary
and spread them out as far and evenly as you can. As usual Hiro will be using
Poe Sword the ENTIRE time, and there should be no reason for him to run out MP
at all. You can give Jean a healing ring if you want, but it’s easier to just
cast Saint Litany and then have Ronfar use Anger Dice or Calm Litany as is
necessary, but his attack won’t really swing the battle on way or the other.
Lucia will chip in with Napalm Shot and random healing every round, which is an
added bonus, because coined with Ronfar together they almost add up to a good
attack margin. As already mentioned Jean will be using her standard attack, and
Lemina will use flame shot, EXCEPT when a circle is under the fiend, then she
needs to cast Erase Magic, and if the penta-star thing is below the field, she
needs to cast Dispel Magic, otherwise the fiends attacks will be aided by the
water element and he will become stronger on both sides of the fight. Judging
from the fiends weak HP, this really shouldn’t take long. Once the battle is
done, walk into the next area and Nall will instruct you on how to release his
power, and then show himself in his true form. Ruby makes some annoying comment
about thinking like a Dragon, but who likes her anyway? Lunn apparently has the
next Aura, that is of the Blue Dragon, but you need to make a pit stop in Horam
first to gain entry to where Lunn is fighting. To get there sail through the
now cleared water pass, it’s the dinky little green town.

FMV Cut-Scenes: Shadow Warrior
Alright once you get to Horam, which is a pathetically small martial arts
centered “training” town you need to first collect all the of the listed
chests, the protection ring is an especially good find. Your bosses are
becoming stronger, and you need all of the help defensively you can get,
especially in these newer dragon caves, which are much longer than what you’ve
become used to dungeon length wise. Anyway, when you’re done treasure hunting,
head to the weapon and armor shop. Buy the Samurai Sword and Flaying Flail, and
anything you don’t already have from the armor desk. After equipping all the
new gear don’t forget to sell back the old. When you’re done with all that you
can talk to people in town, which all seem to look like the bad guy from a
Bruce Lee film (rest in peace Bruce) or you can head straight to the Dojo,
where you will see a teacher yelling at all his students and then owning up
that he as Lunn’s former teacher failed to reveal to him the true meanings of
karate and must now face him, even though he got his ass handed to him like a
month ago. But luckily for him Jean steps up and after a couple sexist remarks
Wong Lee (yes that’s his real name) decides Jean can fight but needs new
clothes. He revels to her the nature of the Blue Dragon Fist, which she must
use to revert Lunn back to the way of good karate. After some hokey (god it’s
bad) speech and watching her get into the dumbest uniform ever, Jean receives
the invitation necessary to get into the Zen Zone Tournament, being held where
else, but in the Zen Zone. Once you’re all done, board the Destiny and head
south to the Zen Zone.

Alright when you get to the Zen Zone, talk to the weird guy and show him
your invitation, note that there is a statue outside, you’ll be using this
later. Go talk to Lunn who is sitting in the rear of the room on his throne,
and then go talk to the tourney director and tell him you’re ready to fight.
Hiro and Ronfar are selected to fight with Jean, now its time to face the Wolf
Guard. Anyway, hopefully you realized that once Horam Jean has three new
attacks, the Blue Dragon Kick, Palm, and Dopple Dance. So, get rid of that Seal
crest mumbo jumbo, we need some magic baby. Hiro should use Poe Sword, Jean
should use Blue Dragon Palm, and Ronfar can just heal. Use Hiro and Jean on the
same warrior one at a time to just take them out systematically. Once this
fight is over, head out to the statue and heal up, then come back to the
tournament director to start round 2. Now you’re up against Flash Ninja’s, use
the same strategy as you did for the wolves. After winning, go out to the
statue, heal and save, then return for round three with the Shadow Cult. After
witnessing their horrible manners in killing a man in the ring, Hiro and pals
seem fired up for some rumbling. Once you’re done with the assassins, of which
you should use that same strategy again, it’s time to go heal and then make
Lunn own up to having to face Jean. After listening to his horrible, god awful
annoying voice he finally gets ready to fight you. This is for all the marbles,
his constellation for winning is killing all your friends, which wouldn’t
really happen because somehow I’m thinking if Jean died, BETWEEN THE 4 OF THEM
they could take him, but that’s just a hunch.

There really isn’t any master strategy to beating Lunn, just a couple simple
tactics and then waiting out the necessary HP. First since Ronfar won’t be
around equip her with a healing ring. The only attack you really need to worry
about is when he gets into a high attack stance (sticks out 1 arm and leg in a
standing guarded position) but you can easily avoid this by simply using the
defend option to move Jean up or down. Unless you use your normal attack, which
you shouldn’t, ever, Lunn will not move his position on the battle field. Plus,
once you’ve moved once, you don’t have to again, he’ll get into that position
and then just stand there! Have Jean use Dopple Dance and Blue Dragon Palm.
Lunn has an attack where heals himself (stands straight up, arms down) which is
the only reason this lasts more than 4-5 rounds. Either way, just keep
attacking and using Dopple Dance when it runs out, and this is a cake walk.
Once you have defeated Lunn he gives you the Blue Dragon Aura. He never
cared about Zophar either way, he just wanted the power he got from it. He also
dedicates himself to re-learning karate the right way, so he can feel what Jean
does from drawing on her emotions. Anyway, the Blue Dragon Cave is West of the
Zen Zone, and be prepared, we’re going to do some serious leveling up in this
mother!

The Blue Dragon Cave is very similar to the White Dragon Cave, except in
this case we are going to do some over-leveling. And just what does that mean?
It means you are going to spend some extra time gaining levels while the EXP is
easy to attain, rather than fool around in the next couple sub-dungeons with
are super annoying. What allows you to do this in the Blue Dragon Cave is the
doom rigger. At about 3511 EXP a pop these are very good for leveling up quick
since you can’t kill the Chiros without Triple Sword (Hiro at level 50) for a
whopping 33,333 EXP a pop. Anyway, what you should do is just fight the first
five groups of monsters in the cave, this includes 4 sorted groups and then the
doom rigger as the fifth. Basically Lemina’s magic will take out the 4 groups
for the most part, then to kill the doom rigger use battalion sword, blue
dragon kick, destiny dice, crematorium and Lucia will use Napalm Sot which
should kill the Rigger and all of its Scurvy. Anyway, keep repeating this until
you’ve gone up a couple levels, then make your way through the whole dungeon
collection all the chests and fighting when you need too. Then you’re going to
come back out, heal and then dash through, only fighting the 4 or so doom
riggers in the cave. By the time you fight the Blue Fiend you should be at like
39 or 40, which is over what you need, but allows you to simply collect items
from the next couple areas without fighting less EXP giving monsters. Now save
before you fight the Blue Fiend, heal everyone, and engage (first read about
who to equip etc.).

Well, if you used my optional over-leveling plan (which is all part of an
elaborate scheme to have Triple Sword very early in the game, which just busts
open leveling up) you are over-prepared for this fight and can basically just
sit back and watch the HP fly, if not, you can still win pretty easily. But do
note this is the last really easy dungeon for a while, hope you enjoyed it.
Basically you should just use the order from last time with Jean taking all the
hits, and also equip her with the recently acquired white dragon crest, so when
the fiend is sucking in air she can cast white dragon protect, otherwise she
can use her regular attack. Hiro will be using Poe Sword, and Ronfar can cast
Saint Litany on Jean, plus leave her with a healing ring. Then Ronfar can use
Anger Dice, and Lemina should use Erase Magic when Jean has to cast WDP to
cancel out the stats on itself the fiend boosts up. Otherwise Lemina should
just use flame shot.
When you have defeated the Blue Fiend, you can move into the lair and
release the power of the Blue Dragon, whom Hiro notes is much more informal
than he’d have thought. He almost lets some info slip but Lucia catches him and
accepts his pledge to help her free Althena. Now you need to head back to the
Destiny, and sail south until you get sucked in by the Death Star... I mean
Neo-Vane.

Alright once the Destiny is stopped and you can’t move anymore, you need to
get out and head west, you’ll see a small cave opening in the mountain, this is

chests. For the next boss you are going to need to be at 38-37, BUT if you are
already there you fight think about fighting just to stay ahead, as this is not
a long area and there is a statue at the end. Anyway once you’ve decided what
you want to do, and have done it, you will come out in the town of Zaback.

done so, you can try and go into the guild building, which is blocked off, so
you have to take the shortcut through the trial cave, which is located to the
left of the guild building near the back wall. Also, if you feel like it take
some time to talk to everyone, you might be surprised with what they think of

All of the items in this area are pretty important or overly useful, so dink

and once you have located and recovered them both, head down through the door
directly south of where Jean was. When you come out the other side there will
be a door directly north of you, don’t go through it yet, take a left at that
door and get the clear ring from the little nook right there, then head back to
the door and go through it. In the next room be sure to pick up the starlight
and earth staff, and then head through the door due west of where you started.
When you come out, grab the silver light and then loop all the way around to
exit the caves, into the neo vane dungeon. Here, Lemina will break down a very
powerful magic door put up by Borgan. Enter and use the transport, then use the
statue in the next room, head through the next door. Before engaging Borgan go
through the symmetrically opposite door and get the chest up there, you can
also talk to Lemina’s mother by going up another level. Then, head back down

Ok now anyone who has played the Saturn original knows how much harder the
fight with Borgan in that game was, so I don’t want to here ANYONE complaining
about this fight, although it is a pain in the butt not really being able to
have Lemina do any damage. Basically you want to order everyone so Jean is as
close to Borgan as possible, and everyone else is spread out as far away from
him as possible. Make sure all of your healing rings and the white dragon crest
are in use (Jean gets the WDC). Hiro will be surprising us this time with Poe
Sword, Ronfar can throw anger dice, but should cast Saint Litany on Jean in the
first round, and heal as needed. Lemina should just continually cast Power
Flame on Hiro and Jean switching off every turn. Jean will cast WDP when all
three orbs are aglow, and just use Blue Dragon Palm if not. This is not that
tough a fight, you should be able to break down his guard barrier in one turn.
Once you have defeated porky, he will admit defeat and give you the Black
Dragon Aura. Go talk to Miria again, and an earthquake will ensue, apparently
Neo Vane is falling as it no longer has a levitating force. Borgan tries to con
Lemina into giving back the Aura, but Lucia can use it, so nice dice for porky.
Anyway, you have to listen to all of this dumb stuff from Borgan and Miria, and
then head down to the black dragon cave (he’ll give you the key). To get there
head back to Zaback and into the mines, then just go to where you originally
found Jean in the mines, and enter that door.

watch out for the little pools of black stuff, if you walk over it you get
zapped and lose some HP. In a couple instances you have to go over it, but dash
so you don’t get hit twice. Once you get to the final room, collect the
starlight and save. Now prepare to fight the 2nd to last of the false dragons.

has that, “wow this town looks like a wooden barn” feeling to it) walk up the
steps to the statue after talking to Grandpa, and have some words with Leo. He
believes he has found a way to stop the way things are going, and he might have
a way to cure Mauri, as she has not been the same since Ronfar attempted to
heal her, years ago during the “epidemic.” After Leo slinks off in another one
of his depressed tantrums, head into town and unlock the secrets of Raculi! Or
just pick up the 3 chests and check out the store in town, upgrade what you
need. Now go into the house Leo and Mauri apparently owned (for 2 of the 4
heroes you’d think they could afford more of a penthouse eh?) and talk to Leo
and he tells you that the cure the chosen gave Ronfar was actually the blood of
Zophar and to cure her and stop this madness Mauri must be killed, and that he
was going to do it, and off he goes, WITH NO ONE TRYING TO STOP HIM. Just AFTER
his best friend heads off to kill the love of his life, Ronfar remembers the
Aura of Althena, which is in Serak Palace and could be used to drive Zophar
from Mauri and cure her, so off trotting we go to Serak Palace.

Serak Palace is a very important place equipment wise, so you need to get
everything, and with a statue just outside, this is also a very important level
up point, so you need to fight everything as well. Once you have collected all
of the chests and taken out all of the enemies (and reached and used the Aura,
duh) come back to the statue, heal and save. Once you’ve done this head through
the door directly behind the statue and you will come upon Leo and Mauri trying
to trick him into thinking what you did with the Aura worked. After you keep
Leo from killing her, she shows that Zophar’s hold was just to strong for to
long, and Lucia now has one way left, for Zophar to enter her subconscious and
do battle with the evil, however the drawback being he might be stuck in there
forever. Anyway, he goes along and after he’s sent in, you shall do battle with
her monstrous form on the outside, while he tries to free her from within.
