This FAQ, and all 32 other of my FAQ/Walkthroughs, are now dedicated to the
over 3,000 innocent people killed in the World Trade Center and Pentagon
terrorist attacks in New York City, New York, and Washington, D.C., on
September 11, 2001. To all of the innocent working people, and FDNY Firemen,
as well as other emergency workers, you will always be remembered. We won't
stop until we bring these criminals to justice, your deaths were NOT IN VAIN!
God Bless America, death to all terrorists of all races everywhere.

Note: Remember, the Greek and Hebrew letters (or names for them) found on the
right side of the Table of Contents, one for each section, is the CTRL+F
Finder. On most browsers and word processors, typing CTRL+F (in other words,
holding down the CTRL (control) button and then pressing F) will bring up the
search box. Type in the Greek or Hebrew word and it'll bring you to the
section you want to go to. So if you want to go to Characters, press CTRL+F
and type in Epsilon, while if you want the walkthrough, you'd type in Theta.
Simple, right? Oh, and to avoid anything else being picked up, make sure your
searcher picks up "exactly" the word typed in, so you get no fragmented words.
Otherwise, "Alpha" will be picked up in the words "Alphabetically", and so on
and so forth.

Out of all RPGs ever made, from the origins with Ultima and Dragon
Quest/Warrior, to today's (early 2003) RPGs, such as Final Fantasy X and the
upcoming Xenosaga, Wild Arms stands up to all of them. With rather primitive
graphics (for a Playstation game), and simple gameplay, Wild Arms would
seemingly be a bad game. However, it's just not like that. Those SNES-like RPG
graphics and simplistic gameplay single-handedly makes for one of the most
solid gaming experiences in the history of video-gaming, and, in my opinion,
is the finest RPG ever made for any console, including today's "blockbusters."
Enjoying great underground success, and mild success from the casual gamer,
Wild Arms (as well as the second one, coming out for the Playstation in the
Summer of 2000, and the third one for the Playstation2, which came out in
October of 2002) gives you a few characters and sends you out on an amazing
journey full of depth and exploration. They don't give you too many characters
to confuse yourself with, they don't give you too many weapons or a crazy
magic system, but instead, they rely on a story-driven plot with deep
characters and an amazing feeling environment. Too many games today sacrifice
gameplay and story for graphics. Wild Arms does the exact opposite. They know
that the hardcore RPG-gamer will take SNES graphics if it means a killer plot
and awesome characters. And that's EXACTLY what Media Vision and Sony give to
you in Wild Arms.
Released in May of 1997, Wild Arms gives you substance over style. It's that
simple. This game isn't for the Final Fantasy gamer. This game isn't for the
casual gamer. This game is for the true RPG fans out there who know what the
true RPG fans want. If you're a graphics whore, or if you're someone into 3D
RPGs, this is not the game for you.
Onward.

The following storyline is NOT IN MY OWN WORDS. It's gotten from pages 6 and 7
in the Wild Arms instruction manual that came with the game, entitled "The
Legend of Filgaia." The following storyline was written by Media Vision and
Sony Computer Entertainment, and is (c) [copyrighted] 1997 to both
aforementioned companies. Again, NOT MY WORDS, THEIRS!
--BEGIN STORY--
THE LEGEND OF FILGAIA
The world of Filgaia is now only a shell of what existed long before. Ages
ago, under the protection of the Guardians, the world of Filgaia was a
prosperous land filled with ancient and magical beings. It was a rich, green
and fertile realm. All was well with the inhabitants of Filgaia... until a
surprise invasion by a race of Metal Demons with bodies of steel robbed them
of peace.
In order to survive, the three races of this world banded together. The
Guardians and humans fought together with the Elws, a clever race that used
technology laced with magic, to rid their planet of the alien demons. Working
together, they forced the Metal Demons to the arctic edge of Filgaia where
they have not been seen since. Having helped with the war to save Filgaia, the
Ewl became disenchanted by the greed and ruthlessness of the human race. They
became alienated and abandoned Filgaia after seeing the rapid decline of the
planet.
Even though the war to save Filgaia was won, the planet suffered terribly
during the battle. Shortly after the war, plants began to disappear on by one
until most of the grasslands were nothing more than desert wastelands.
As for the Guardians, the battle to save Filgaia drained them of their power,
and they were lost to the myths of time. Although some still hold faith in the
Guardians, they are now considered by most to be just one of the many legends
that surround the old world.
Now, 1000 years later, the war is but a memory, and slowly a new civilization
is rising from the ashes. But once again an ominous cloud hangs over the
horizon. The Metal Demons, who witnessed the collapse of their own planet,
Hiades, are preparing for the moment when they can once again descend upon
Filgaia and claim it as their new home.
Three brave warriors will hear the call of the mythic Guardians. As they ready
themselves to embark upon a journey to save their world, each is as unaware of
the others' existence as they are of their own fates. In a world brought to
ruin under the merciless attack of an alien race, the wheels of fortune are
about to turn.
--END STORY--
Again, the story you just read was written by Media Vision and Sony Computer
Entertainment, and is copyrighted to both companies, (c) 1997. It's not mine,
it's theirs. They wrote it, not me! Is that clear!?

-----------------------
This section of the FAQ/Walkthrough discusses the various characters in the
game, both the characters you play as and other "important" characters that
you'll come across. For each, there's a little tidbit about them, who they
are, and why they're important. The characters can be found in order of
appearance.
-----
Name: Rudy Roughnight
Occupation: Outcast
Rudy Roughnight is the main character in the game. Extremely quiet (doesn't
say one word, actually), Rudy is a boy lost in the world. Being from the quiet
and secluded town of Surf, Rudy has no clue what his place in the world could
possibly be. All he knows for sure is that he doesn't belong in the farming
town for which he grew up in. Declared a wanderer of Filgaia, Rudy has the
power to control ARMs, a powerful gun-like weapon that was used by the
planet's civilization of yore. As the game goes on, Rudy's quest becomes clear
- save the planet from ultimate destruction. But until that time comes, he
wanders the planet with his two friends, wielding his powerful ARMs, and
making people everywhere question just who he is.
-----
Name: Cecilia Adlehyde
Occupation: Princess
Cecilia is a princess by birth of the powerful Aldehyde family. Being of such
high royalty, Cecilia was sent to Curan Abbey to hone her skills in the
magical arts. As the game begins, she is nearly seventeen years of age, the
age when she will be allowed back out of Curan Abbey to display her new found
powers to the world. Little did the naive princess know, however, that her
skills would be so useful in literally saving the world. Brave and sometimes
careless, Cecilia's magic makes her a valuable commodity to your party.
-----
Name: Jack Van Burace
Occupation: Treasure Hunter
Having a very stately name, you wouldn't expect Jack Van Burace to be a rag-
tag treasure hunter. But a rag-tag treasure hunter he is. Accompanied by a
talking rat (no, that's not a joke) named Hanpan, Jack is constantly on the
go, searching for new and exciting ruins and mountain caves to explore, in
constant search of lost treasure. Wielding a sword with great skill, Jack's
blade will help Rudy and Cecilia in saving the world from certain doom, and
give his life true meaning behind his treasure hunting lifestyle.
-----
Name: Tony
Occupation: Young Boy
Tony plays a minimal role in the game. He's a boy that lives in the small
village of Surf. In the beginning of the game, during Rudy's scenario, he
wanders alone into the dangerous Berry Cave to find a healing agent for a
family member. Rudy saves him from the cave and the monsters within, but this
is ultimately the catalyst behind Rudy's exile from Surf for being "weird and
unearthly."
-----
Name: The Mayor or Surf
Occupation: Mayor of Surf
Practicing what is, essentially, tough love, the Mayor of Surf gives Rudy, a
traveling someone, a chance to work in his village. The tough love is
practiced, however, after it is found out that Rudy is an ARMs user. His
extreme power, even after saving the young Tony from the Berry Cave, scares
the townsfolk and the mayor himself. After much deliberation, Rudy is exiled
from the Village of Surf for possessing power beyond any Earthly being, and
for being able to use the ancient ARMs, which are from an unknown origin.
-----
Name: Professor Emma
Occupation: Archaeologist, Historian
Professor Emma makes her home under the castle's shadow in the grand city of
Adlehyde. An expert on many things, and a well-read woman, Emma is the party's
best ally, as she provides some work in the beginning, but vital support in
other areas later in the game. She first seems greedy (excavating ruins at the
sake of other people's lives), but you'll soon find out that she has good
intentions and cares about the fate of Filgaia as much as the next person.
She's also the person in the game most knowledgeable about ARMs, and that's
why she's so important to Rudy.
-----
Name: Minister Johan
Occupation: Prime Minister of Adlehyde
Learned and kind, Johan is the Prime Minister of Adlehyde, Cecilia's hometown.
While we don't learn a whole lot about him, he does give the party good advice
and his blessings before and after the king dies, reinforcing the deceased
king's position that it's up to the three party members, and those three alone
to get back to the lost Tear Drop and save Filgaia from the inclement evil
that approaches the planet. Make sure to listen to his words wisely, this
politician knows of what he speaks.
-----
Name: King Adlehyde
Occupation: The King of Adlehyde
The King of Adlehyde, while a short-lived character (literally), is still a
fairly important character. He's the King of the kingdom of Adlehyde, and is
Cecilia's father, making her the princess of the kingdom. Technically,
although the game doesn't go into it, after his death she should be considered
the Queen of Adlehyde, no? Maybe she has siblings we don't know about. Anyway,
King Adlehyde was a brave warrior in his day, and was killed by monsters who
sacked Adlehyde during the festival to get Cecilia's Tear Drop. He dies from
the fatal wounds and the Tear Drop is taken against his wishes.
-----
Name: Chief Baskar
Occupation: Chief of Baskar
The Chief of Baskar we first meet, naturally, in Baskar Village. A wise and
patient old man, the leader of the Baskar people lives in peace with the rest
of his kind. However, even this peaceful people can't ignore the painful calls
from Filgaia. The planet is dying and no one can ignore it. You'll find that
Chief Baskar is the first to really send you out on your way to save the
planet. He is a very useful and powerful ally to have. And he gives you the
Kizim Fire, which lights the Elw Pyramid's flame, allowing you to travel
around the globe.
-----
Name: Zeikfried
Occupation: Leader of the Quarter Knights (Mother's "son")
At first it seems as if Zeikfried is the bad guy that we're after in the
game... but after a while, you find out that he's just one of many bad guys in
the game, and he's not even the "cream of the crop" so to speak. Zeikfried is
powerful for certain, and is the leader of the Quarter Knights, demons that
have come back to Filgaia in order to take the planet over for their leader,
Mother. Not much else is known about him, but rest assured that you fight him
eventually. This most-powerful demon will be a sure-fire challenge to you late
in the game, when you finally get to meet him face-to-face.
-----
Name: Lady Harken
Occupation: Member of the Quarter Knights
Lady Harken is a ranking member in Zeikfried's Quarter Knights. A seemingly
peaceful demon, this humanoid looking girl uses a scythe in battle, and uses
it with great skill. You find out on Bartholomew's ship, the Sweet Candy, that
she in fact uses Fast Draw, just like Jack. At the time you first meet her,
however, she uses it with far greater skill than Jack does. Lady Harken get
easily frustrated by the others in the Quarter Knights, especially Belselk,
for she likes to do things as "peacefully" and "simply" as possible, while he
prefers a more brutal approach to getting things done. Regardless, when you
face her in battle, be ready for her Fast Draw attacks!
-----
Name: Alhazad
Occupation: Member of the Quarter Knights
Alhazad is a mysterious looking enemy. A ranking member in the Quarter
Knights, Alhazad never touches the ground, but instead floats above it in such
a manner that he always rises above those he is speaking to. He looks like a
cross between a dog and an elephant in appearance, for he has four legs. Other
than that, it seems like he enjoys doing the dirty work for the Quarter
Knights. He single-handedly takes over Arctica Castle before the game even
begins (you'll know this if you watch the intro sequence after the anime in
the beginning of the game), killing everyone within. He uses magic with great
skill, barely having to touch anyone he kills. Anyway, you'll face him
eventually, and be weary when you do. He is quite the powerful enemy with his
various array of magical spells!
-----
Name: Belselk
Occupation: Member of the Quarter Knights
Belselk is the least ranking member of the Quarter Knights. A demon with
little special ability, he is more of the Quarter Knight's henchman then
anything else. He has extreme power, as you witness when you fight him in
Adlehyde early in the game, but he's still nothing to be concerned about. The
Quarter Knights initially throw him around to do their dirty work, but they
soon realize that he's incompetent and makes far too much of a mess (as in,
completely obliterating Adlehyde) when asked to do something. He's persistent
on killing your party however. So who will kill who first?...
-----
Name: Calamity Jane
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Calamity Jane is a fairly mysterious character in the game. A revered bounty
hunter known across Filgaia, Calamity Jane is supposed to be a hardened woman
with the will to destroy. However, when the party first meets her on top of
Cage Tower, they realize that she's only a teenage girl with the ability, like
Rudy, to use ARMs. Don't let her looks fool you however! She is still a
dangerous and ruthless person if you cross her. Just look at how she took
2,000 Gella from you for freeing you from the trap Alhazad set for you on top
of Cage Tower! You'll meet her at various times throughout your journey. Be
set to follow her along and do as she says! She often has vital information
and things for you to do. And as an ARMs user, she is a great ally.
-----
Name: McDullen
Occupation: Calamity Jane's servant
I'm not exactly sure if McDullen is a guy or a girl. I'm presuming it's a
girl, though, so she'll be considered a "she" and a "her," just so you know.
McDullen accompanies Calamity Jane through her journies across Filgaia. A
fairly witty person, McDullen is still lacking confidence enough to talk back
to Calamity Jane, and basically acts as her "yes woman" on her journeys around
Filgaia, as is first evident on top of Cage Tower. Not much else is known
about her, but I thought she deserved a nod here anyway. =)
-----
Name: Bartholomew
Occupation: Captain of the Sweet Candy
Bartholomew is the captain of the Inner Sea ship named the Sweet Candy. We
first meet him in Port Timney, while he is in a huge bind. He promised to
Drake, his rival, that he'd get his bridge Olivia the Crystal Bud from the
Maze of Death, and propose marriage to her. But how the hell can he do that?
Why, through our party of course. After we get him the Crystal Bud from the
Maze of Death, Bartholomew fake-marries Cecilia. From there, he gives you all
sorts of money and goods for helping him. Why did we want to help him in the
first place? Easy - he had the third of the three Guardian statues on his ship
with a piece of the Queen's heart in it. However, by the time the party
actually accesses the ship to get to the statue, it's too late. We later can
use Sweet Candy, Bartholomew's ship, as well...
-----
Name: Drake
Occupation: Bartholomew's rival
Not much is known about Drake. He is Bartholomew's heated rival, both at sea
and on land. The two men's crews also have a deep seeded rivalry going on. Not
much else is know about the man called Drake, even though he is humiliated
pretty deeply by Bartholomew when the party retrieves the Crystal Bud for him
and he is able to fake a marriage to Cecilia to make Drake look stupid.

This part of the FAQ/Walkthrough discusses the controls in the game. Each
button described below corresponds with the regular Playstation controller (as
in, not a Dual Shock controller - no analogs). A Dual Shock controller CAN be
used, but this game does not support the vibration function, nor does it
support either analog sticks.
-Directional Pad (D-Pad): The directional pad allows you to move your
character around the screen, and is also used to surf the various menus in the
game, including the beginning menu and various in-game menus. A very important
button.
-L1 Button: Pressing the L1 Button will allow you to scroll between characters
in various in-game menus.
-R1 Button: Pressing the R1 Button will allow you to scroll between characters
in various in-game menus.
-L2 Button: While viewing your various items on the item menu, pressing the L2
Button will automatically scroll the menu upwards.
-R2 Button: While viewing your various items on the item menu, pressing the R2
Button will automatically scroll the menu downwards.
-Select Button: While on the Filgaia surface (the world map, for you RPG
buffs), press the Select Button to view the map of Filgaia.
-Start Button: The Start Button will allow you to scroll between the
characters in the game, as well as each character's "tools", where applicable.
-Square Button: If your character has a tool equipped (which they almost
always do), press the Square Button to use that tool. Keep in mind that the
character's tool only has its desired effect in certain situations.
-X Button: The X Button is Wild Arms' "action button." It's used to make
selections in battle and on the in-game menus, and is also used to talk and
search whilst in a town.
-O Button: The O Button is Wild Arms' "cancel button." It's used to cancel
selections made in battle and on the in-game menus.
-Triangle Button: Pressing the Triangle Button at basically any point in the
game will bring up the main menu. From there, you can select to equip your
characters, view their status, and do a whole bunch of other good stuff.
(Thanks to the Wild Arms instruction manual, which clarified some button's
functions. Copyrighted (c) 1997 to Sony and Media Vision.)

This small section of the FAQ/Walkthrough will briefly discuss what the world
of Wild Arms is like, how the game plays, and just what to expect when you're
actually playing this classic game.
Wild Arms is what you'd call a "traditional RPG" which traditional elements.
That is to say, it's an SNES-looking RPG with sprite graphics, random battles,
a world map, and a turn-based fighting system. Clarification on these:
Sprite Graphics: If you're familiar with the early Final Fantasy games on the
NES or SNES, or the Tales of Destiny series, amongst others, you'll know what
sprite graphics are. Sprites are the character graphics, as in, not 3D
graphics, but rather modest in their artistic greatness.
Random Battles: A staple in 95% of the true RPGs out there, random battles are
running into "invisible" enemies, and coming to a battle screen where you
randomly do battle with various enemies. You can't see them, and you run into
them randomly, but then you are brought to a battle screen, fight them, and
all is well.
World Map: Some "semi-RPGs" (like Zelda) take place in a weird way, in that
the entire game looks the same as far as graphics go. World Maps provide a
different way for most RPGs to provide dungeon to town to dungeon (et cetera)
travel. On the World Map, dungeons and towns appear as icons, and you fight
random battles (see above) whilst on them.
Turn-Based Fighting: Another staple in most RPGs, turn-based fighting is the
most popular RPG fighting in the history of gaming. After running into a
random battle (see above), you're brought to the turn-based fighting screen,
where fighting takes place via menus. Select your various attacks to do battle
with the on-screen enemies in a purely menu form. You should be familiar with
this.

1.) Save often. Saving is something you should do as often as possible.
Whenever you come to a save point or are on the world map, it doesn't hurt you
to save. It's better to save too much then not enough. What happens if you
don't save for a few hours and then die in battle? You, my friend, would be
screwed in that case, because you'd have to start from where you last saved,
no matter when and where that was. It could easily be hours back in your game!
2.) Use your ARMs wisely. Rudy can use his ARMs, which are ultra powerful, but
bullets are limited, and they aren't free. Save them for the toughest battles,
and most importantly, the boss battles, where you'll truly need them.
3.) Upgrade your ARMs when and where you can, and make sure to max them ALL
out. They are ALL useful in areas of the game, and all have the potential to
be extremely strong.
4.) When you get a Crest Graph, make a spell for Cecilia as soon as you can.
It's useless if the Crest Graph isn't binded to make a spell, so it's in your
best interest.
5.) Level up as much as possible. It doesn't hurt to gain a few levels here
and there around various towns and in dungeons. And hey, if you find those
random enemies in various areas that give good experience for the point in the
game you're at, slay as many as you can before moving on. That way, you'll
have a badass level.
6.) Buy the best equipment as soon as it becomes available. If you don't have
the money, leave the town you're in and run around outside of the town,
slaying enemies and gaining money until you have enough. It's vital to have
your best gear equipped at all times. It greatly increases your chance of
success!

This is the walkthrough section of the FAQ/Walkthrough. Within it, you'll find
a detailed, concise and fully complete walkthrough for all facets of the game.
Before each section of the walkthrough, I will detail the enemies you'll find
within that section, what items (et cetera) you need to find and buy, and what
to expect otherwise. Enjoy!
As you start a new game, you can choose one of three characters. You'll
eventually play as all three, but you must first play as each one
individually. Start out with Rudy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. "A Wandering Youth" (Rudy's Quest)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Heal Berry x7, Hardy Apple x2, 17 Gella, Power Apple x2, 20
Gella, 8 Gella, Bombs (Rudy Item), 50 Gella, Agile Apple, Bullet Clip, Bandana
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Balloon, Goblin, Tatzelbelm, Zombie (Boss)
Select Rudy's quest and read the text that comes up over the house in front of
you to learn a little bit of what's going on with Filgaia's decline, and why
the planet is gradually dying. You'll be introduced to the Village of Surf,
and a young kid working in a horse corral.
Talk to the owner of the horse area, who'll let you leave work for the day.
When he asks your name, choose your name (Rudy's name is Rudy, and that's what
I refer to him as, but you can call him whatever your little heart desires).
To pay you for the day's work, the man gives Rudy a Heal Berry. Then you're
free to control Rudy and do as you must. Get used to the controls and whatnot,
and then do the following.
Within the horse pen, go to the southwest corner and pick up the various
wooden crates there. Destroy them all (by picking them up and throwing them
against a hard surface). This will reveal another Heal Berry, as well as a
Hardy Apple. Then, leave the horse pen. On the right side of the barn there is
a lone barrel. Search it to find 17 Gella. Then head north to the large house
at the north end of the town. At the right end of the house (outside) are two
barrels on either side of a lone wooden crate. Pick up and destroy the crate
to reveal a Power Apple. Then, work your way north and behind this large
house. Head all the way west and then head south. Along the western limit of
the town are three more wooden crates. Destroy those to reveal another Heal
Berry. There's a house to the east of where you are now. Search the barrel on
the side of this house to find another Heal Berry. Now head to the south end
of the town, and go outside of the building to the east of the entrance. To
the side of this building is a wooden barrel. Search it to find 20 Gella. Now
that's all for finding items on the outside areas of the town. After talking
to everyone outside, it's time to explore the buildings.
The only building of interest in town is the big one in the north. Do talk to
everyone in town (both in and out of buildings), then head to this big house.
Within, search the barrels on the first floor to find 8 Gella, and then head
upstairs. Don't talk to the woman on the first floor just yet. Go upstairs and
talk to the Mayor. He'll thank you for your hard work by giving Rudy the Bombs
(Rudy's first "Tool"). As you head back downstairs, a villagers comes rushing
up the stairs. It seems that a local boy has gone into the dangerous Berry
Cave! You know what this means. Talk to both men again upstairs, then head
downstairs and out of the mayor's house. Save your game at the Save Parrot,
and head south out of town. Go south just a bit and enter the Berry Cave.
Within the cave, talk to the man there who let the boy accidentally pass
through. Then pass through to the next area of the cave. Read the sign if you
so desire. To the east of that sign are three small wooden crates and a large
wooden crate. Pick up and destroy the small guys and use your Bombs to explode
the large crate, which is holding a Heal Berry for you. Follow the path north,
then east, and then south again. Go south through the door into the next area
of the cave. Here, pull the switch to move the statue in your way, and then
head south. Head south along this winding path. Destroy the crates in your
way, then go south and swing back around north to the treasure chest in clear
view. Within this treasure chest is 50 Gella. Take this money, and continue to
head south and then east along this linear path. When the path heading east
ends, open the treasure chest there to find 50 Gella again, and then go north.
When a sign is in your way, destroy it with a Bomb (even if it says not to!)
Then head north s'more.
Eventually, you'll come to a switch in your path. Ignore it at first and
continue to head north. Destroy the large wooden crate in front of the green
statue there with some Bombs, and THEN pull the statue to allow you to head
farther north. Head north into the next area. In here, head east, and then
south. Make sure to walk (or you'll awaken the dangerous bats in the area,
which will give you the Bad Omen curse!) Head south along the diagonal
walkway, and open the treasure chest at the end to get a Heal Berry. Then head
back north a bit, and when it splits to your right, you'll see a treasure
chest to your right. Open it to get a Holy Symbol (which you can use if you
got the Bad Omen on ya). Continue to head right down this path, and then swing
north. Once you get all the way north, head southward down the diagonal
pathway, destroying the large crate on your way for another Heal Berry. At the
end of this path, before heading south, head north to the odd-colored wall.
Bomb it to reveal a secret cavern. Within this secret place are three treasure
chests, holding a Power Apple, Hardy Apple and Agile Apple. This is a VERY
good find, so make sure to keep those in your inventory, and we'll split those
later. Head south to the crate now, and destroy it with some Bombs to get
another Heal Berry, and then approach the two switches at the south end of the
screen. Do the left one first, then the right one to get the statues out of
your way, and then head south.
In this area, head south. Open the treasure chest to get a Bullet Clip, and
then approach the save seal to save your game. From there, head west and then
north. You'll find the boy there, who'll tell you he's looking for berries for
his father, to save him. You have to destroy the wall in front of you with
Bombs to proceed. Once in here, head north. Bare right to open the slightly-
concealed treasure chest there, which holds a Bandana. Equip this on Rudy
right away. Then, approach the shrine at the north end of this room and
analyze the berries there. You'll acquire the Holy Berries. As the boy and
Rudy run back to the village, a mystical force brews.
Eventually you'll come to the entrance of the cave, where the townsfolk will
meet you. But suddenly, a monster comes out of the cave!
[BOSS BATTLE ONE] - Z O M B I E
---- ------ --- - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 800 HP
Special Attacks: Rotten Breath
Experience: 100 EXP
Gella: 200
This is the first boss battle in the game. Zombie isn't incredibly difficult
to defeat, you'll just need to fight smart, be patient, and heal often. That's
where all of those Heal Berries you found earlier in the cave and town are
going to come in handy! Since you're fighting alone, and you don't have a lot
of HPs (you're probably only on level 2 or so), you'll need to heal about
every third turn. Concentrate your attacks on the beast with your ARM, using
the Lock On technique as soon as it becomes available. And remember to heal
often! The Zombie's Rotten Breath attack, which is uses often, is pretty
damaging (between 22 and 25 HPs), and his physical attacks take off another 15
per hit. So make sure to heal often, and lock on with that ARM! Other than
that, you have very little to worry about with this beast. Once slain, the
battle is over.
[END BOSS BATTLE ONE]
After the boss battle, the townsfolk are taken aback by the fact that Rudy
uses the long-feared ARMs that once "destroyed" the world. The Mayor thanks
Rudy for saving the young boy from town, but tells him that he must abide and
be prosecuted by his town's rules.
Once back in town, take Rudy and go downstairs in the Mayor's House. As he
goes downstairs, he'll overhear the townsfolk talking. He's going to be exiled
from the town of Surf for controlling such a powerful skill. After the Mayor
tells Rudy of his fate, talk to whomever you want. Go to leave town and the
boy you rescue will run up to you. He thanks you (no matter what anyone else
thinks). Leave town, and Rudy's scenario ends. Select Jack's scenario next.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
II. "A Treasure Hunter" (Jack's Quest)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Heal Berry x4, Cowboy Hat, Hide Glove
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Balloon, Pillbug, Skeleton
As this scenario begins, Jack and his rat counterpart Hanpan will be talking
outside of the Temple of Memory. After they speak of how this place has
already been plundered, Jack decides to go in anyway. They approach a
primitive computer which asks for a name. Jack inputs his own name and they
fall into an abyss below the original temple, where a funny cut-scene happens,
which explains who Jack and Hanpan are. Jack and Hanpan avoid all sorts of
traps and whatnot while you find out that Jack is a Treasure Hunter and Hanpan
is his all-knowing Wind Mouse. Finally, you fall even deeper into the abyss
and gain control of Jack.
Go south and read the note to your left to find out everything of value has
already been taken. Is it true? We don't know yet. Open the treasure chest
next to the note to get a Heal Berry. Run to your left, and then north. Ignore
both treasure chests there (as they are empty) and run north to the next note
there. Read it and it'll exclaim that the treasure across the chasm to your
left is unobtainable. However, Hanpan offers his assistance in order to get
said item. Do so and Hanpan will find the Cowboy Hat. Equip it on Jack. Then,
head east and south. From here, go all the way right. Go around the chasm and
head north. There's a treasure chest and a switch here. Ignore the chest (it's
empty) and press the switch to make a door to your left open up. Then head
south, back around the chasm, west, and north to the pathway we previously
ignored. Go through the now-open door here and up the stairs to the next area.
Here, move the blocks out of your way and go south along the long pathway.
Avoid the spikes by moving quickly over them as you head south. When you get
all the way to the south end of this area, use Hanpan to get the Heal Berry
out of the treasure chest surrounded by floor spikes. Then, go out of the
right door there. In this next small area, press the switch and then head back
north, taking the left side door this time. Here, go through the door and up
the stairs to the next area.
In here, quickly run to both your left and your right to find two treasure
chests, each with a Heal Berry within. You must run quickly, or the spears
along the walls will impale you, damaging you nicely. Once both Heal Berries
are acquired, go right, and through the door leading north. In this room, take
the winding pathway to the end, where five blocks are along a ledge, and
across a chasm, a switch lies. Push the middle block into the chasm and use
Hanpan to press the switch across the chasm, which will open a door back in
the previous corridor. Go back south into the previous corridor, and quickly
run (as to avoid the wall spears) to the left side of the corridor, where the
door there is now open. Go through the door and up the stairs.
In this small room, a save seal will await you. Save your game and go south
into the next room. In here, go either east or west, and go north to the same
area, where you'll see a note before a small corridor heading north. Read the
note (spikes!), and then run north across the spikes so that they don't strike
you. Once north, walk around each torch to the switch surrounded by spikes.
When both switches are pressed, a secret switch will appear in the middle of
the room. Hit that switch to make the door to the north open. While avoiding
spikes on these small pathways here, head all the way north, then all the way
west. Go south, and go west again at the first opportunity. From here, head
south to two treasure chests, where a Heal Berry and Hide Glove await Jack.
Make sure to equip the Hide Glove on Jack! Then, run north and through the
door. In here, read the note on the wall (about the two switches in the room).
What you have to do is stand on one switch and send Hanpan over to the other
so that both are stood on simultaneously. That'll make a red warp appear in
the middle of the room. Go through into this warp.
When you come out on the other end, you'll be in front of a large machine-like
structure. Approach and analyze it to awaken a machine that is of the ancient
Elw. It speaks directly to Jack's mind. It tells him to not seek Lolithia.
What is this Lolithia? No one knows for certain... Hanpan suggests that the
two go to Aldehyde, the city of Light. Jack agrees. Take the warp back to the
beginning of the temple, and leave the temple. Jack's scenario ends. Finally,
select Cecilia's Quest.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
III. "A Princess" (Cecilia's Quest)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Heal Berry x3, Mystic Apple, Crest Graph, Medicine, Magic
Carrot x2, Capuche
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Blue Book, Gagison, Nelgaul (boss)
Cecilia's scenario starts out rather oddly. A black screen is calling to her.
The Innocent One the voice calls her. Eventually, it'll ask for her name.
Input Cecilia or whatever you want to call her. It appears that it was all a
dream though, and Cecilia is actually in a class at Curan Abbey. As she awakes
and talks to her classmates, you once again gain control of her. It seems that
you must say goodbye to everyone. Talk to everyone in that class, and then
leave it. Go to the classroom at your left to say goodbye, then head back
south out of the classroom, and east down the corridor, past the classroom
where we started the quest. Go north, then east, then south, and east some
more to the library. Talk to the kid in there who asks you to find his friend
with the Pocket Watch, which can reverse time and help him but all the books
that fell off the shelf back on the shelf. Then, leave the library and
continue heading east. Go into the final classroom there and talk to the
instructor, who will give you your very first Crest Graph! Now we can bind a
spell at the Magic Guild!
Now, head all the way back west, and then south and out of the classroom
sector. You'll now be outside. Talk to the sister there, then head south to
the next building. Talk to more people here. Enter the Magic Guild. Search the
barrels at the right side of the room there to find a Heal Berry! Talk to the
man there now to bind a spell if you'd like. Leave the Magic Guild. Go right,
across the blue carpet, and into the next room there. Search the barrels to
find a Mystic Apple! Now, head back to the center of this room where two
staircases lead upstairs. The lefthand side staircase leads to an inn - ignore
it for now. Go up the righthand staircase and speak with Anje there, the woman
with the Pocket Watch. Agree to do the experiment (use your Tear Drop on the
Guardian Stone) and she'll give you her Pocket Watch in return. With Pocket
Watch in hand, head back to the library at the north end of Curan Abbey. Talk
to your friend at the entrance to the library. He'll run off. Cecilia will
automatically use the watch to put the books back, but one remains on the
floor. Analyze the book... the same voice will speak to Cecilia from the
beginning of the scenario. The spirit is trapped in the Sealed Library...
To get to the Sealed Library, you have to go to the area at the left of the
Magic Guild in the abbey. There's a young girl walking around there, and
she'll tell you about switches on the Curan Abbey statues in the middle of the
area. Once she tells you that, go north across the bridge to the classroom
area, and then go south through the middle door into the Curan Abbey
courtyard. Analyze both statues to find switches. Press them both to loosen
the statues up, and then push them into where the other one was, so the
statues are facing each other. Stand in the middle of the statues after you do
that and use Cecilia's Tear Drop. Then, run back inside and some light will
appear on the wall. Use the Tear Drop again to get sent to the Sealed Library!
Once within the library, do remember that if you feel the need to leave, you
can. Go back to the beginning (where you are once warped) and use the Tear
Drop to get back to the abbey. With that out of the way, go down the stairs
and swing around to the sealed door. Use the Tear Drop on it to open it and go
through into the next room. Here, pick up the crates to reveal a switch. Press
the switch and it'll open the door at the north of the room. Go through the
door and down the stairs. Go down the stairs here and swing north and through
another door. In here, move the crates in the room to get to the treasure
chests, which hold Medicine and a Magic Carrot for you. Now, leave the room
and go back in to make the crates reappear. Use one to hit the switch in the
room, opening the door at the north. Go through the door and down the stairs
into the next area.
Here, go down either staircase, and then north through the door. Run up this
corridor, moving the crates in your way. Open the two treasure chests here to
find two Heal Berries. Then, use the Stop Watch to go back to the beginning of
the room. This time, hold onto the last crate and use it on the switch at the
righthand side of the room. Step on the switch on the lefthand side and the
door in front of you will open, revealing the library part of the underground.
Once in the library, you'll learn about secret books we must find in the area.
We must pick them up and throw them in fire to go on. You can read the books
on the shelves if you'd like - but find the three blue books strewn around the
area. One is to the right, one is to the left, and one is to the right of the
fire itself. Take all three books and throw them into the fire at the extreme
north end of the room to make a door appear right below it. Other than that,
explore the room to find two treasure chests (which will give you a Magic
Carrot and a Capuche, which you should equip on Cecilia). Read some books and
go through this newly opened door!
In here, approach the book on the desk to the south of the room. Suddenly an
evil demon comes out of the book and wants to fight Cecilia... The Book
Monster!
[BOSS BATTLE TWO] - N E L G A U L
---- ------ --- - - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 400 HP
MP: ???
Special Attacks: Brutal Attack
Experience: 100 EXP
Gella: 300
Nelgaul is a very, very easy boss fight. What you want to do is make sure
you're all healed up going into the battle, and that you have a fairly full
magic meter. Continuously pound Nelgaul round after round with Cecilia's Fire
spell, and he'll almost always use his Brutal Attack, which isn't so brutal,
so don't worry too much about it. After about seven or eight rounds of Fire
attacks on him, he'll be no more. Heal when necessary (if your magic is high
enough, use your Heal spell, otherwise Heal Berries do the trick!)
[END BOSS BATTLE TWO]
After the boss battle, Stoldark the Guardian of Water will appear to Cecilia.
They speak, and then Stoldark turns into the Water Rune, which is given to
Cecilia. You're then transported back to Curan Abbey. Leave the abbey and
Cecilia's scenario ends...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. Assembling the Troops
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: 50 Gella, Heal Berry x3, 7 Gella, Agile Apple, Antidote, Heat
Salve, Hardy Apple, Power Apple, Magic Carrot, 200 Gella
Items to Buy: Long Sword, Chrome Blade, Magical Rod, Hard Cloak, War Coat,
White Robe, as well as ten of everything at the Item Store.
Enemies: None.
After all three scenarios are done, it's time to bring everyone to Adlehyde so
that they can all meet. To get Cecilia there, leave Curan Abbey. Head north
and east across the bridge, and then east to the castle. To get Jack there,
have him head east, and then southeast to the castle. And finally, to get Rudy
there, have him head south, then southwest, then southeast and he too will get
there in due time. Have each character save at the parrot outside of the inn
in Adlehyde, then take Rudy and have him go north into town. There's a
building on the east side along the main pathway heading north. It's the ARMs
shop, and has a screw on a wooden plaque next to the door. Go in this house
and go upstairs. Talk to the woman there, and some guys will run up the stairs
behind you. Lolithia's Tomb has been attacked! Agree to go fix the mess (for a
500 Gella bounty), and then head back to the save parrot. Talk to Jack and
Cecilia there to get them to join up. Now, before going out, we need to
upgrade our equipment. But before we do that, talk to everyone in town, in and
out of houses. Also, if you want to find hidden goods, follow the next
paragraph.
On the first floor of the Inn, search the barrels in the corner to find 50
Gella. In the building in the southeast corner of town, there are a bunch of
barrels. One of them holds a Heal Berry. In the house behind the Pub, to the
right of Emma's house, is 7 Gella in a barrel. The house to the left of Emma's
has an Agile Apple hidden in a barrel. In the empty house in the southwest of
town (with the guy in front of it saying it's empty), there's a Heal Berry. Go
to the church at the west end of town. On the left side of the outside of the
church you'll find a large crate. Blow it up with Rudy's Bombs to find an
Antidote. In the northeast end of town, there's a man standing next to a
treasure chest. Open it to find some Heat Salve. In the small hut next to the
trees in the northeast side of town are some crates. Destroy them all to find
a Hardy Apple and Power Apple. To the west of that house is a slightly bigger
(but still small) house. Within it are two large crates. Blow them both up
with Rudy's Bombs to reveal a Heal Berry and a Magic Carrot.
Now, go north and all the way into the castle. On the northeast side of the
castle's roof is a treasure chest. Open it to get 200 Gella! Other than that,
make sure to thoroughly explore the castle to find two more treasure chests -
one holds another Crest Graph for Cecilia, and the other holds a Moon Stone.
The Moon Stone chest is south of the kitchen, and the Crest Graph is outside,
but you have to go inside and work your way outward to find it. Once those are
gotten, head out of the castle and back to town.
Now lets buy some gear. Go to the weapon and item store. Buy the Long Sword,
the Chrome Blade, the Magical Rod, the Hard Cloak, the War Coat and the White
Robe, and equip them on their respective party members to increase your stats
nicely. Other than that, go to the ARMs shop now (Emma's house). Upgrade each
category in the Hand Cannon one time (which will cost 800 Gella total for all
three upgrades). Then, go to the Inn, rest up, refill your ammo and save the
game. From there, leave Adlehyde. Lolithia's Tomb, our next destination, is
due north.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IV. Lolithia's Tomb
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Heal Berry x5, Potion Berry, Power Apple, Mystic Apple,
Buckler, 50 Gella, Crest Graph, Revive Fruit, 130 Gella, Hardy Apple, Magic
Carrot x2, 300 Gella
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Rat Monkey, Pillbug, Aipeloss, Tatzelbelm, Magtortous (Boss)
Once inside this tomb, run north and talk to the man at the intersection.
After talking to him, go to the room behind him and to your left. Within this
small room you'll find three treasure chests, holding two Heal Berries and a
Potion Berry. Grab the goods, and then go back south into the previous room.
This time, take the door on the righthand side of the man we originally talked
to. Talk to the guy in here to learn a bit about exploding treasure chests,
then run north up the corridor to a few blocks blocking in two treasure
chests. Push the lefthand side block all the way up to gain access to the two
treasure chests, and you'll find a Power Apple and a Mystic Apple within them.
I'd use the Power Apple on Rudy and the Mystic Apple on Cecilia. With that
said and done, go south back to the previous room.
When you come out of the door, you'll see a ladder leading up to a catwalk to
your left. Climb up the ladder, and follow the catwalk as it leads around,
talking to characters as you go. Go through the door you'll eventually come to
where you'll find Emma. Talk to her, and then bomb the wall behind her with
Rudy's Bombs. Go through the hole in the wall, where you'll find a treasure
chest. Open it to find a Buckler, which you should equip on Rudy. The treasure
chest across the way is inaccessible as of now (we need the Hookshot). The
chest holds a Crest Graph. Don't worry, we'll come back for it!
Jump off of the side where you got the Buckler and bomb the rocks to the
north. Go through the door there, go north, and bomb some more rocks to gain
way into the next area. Here, go straight north into the next room. Bomb the
rocks in the upper righthand corner to reveal a switch, which will put the
purple barriers to your left down. Once that happens, go all the way left and
approach the odd looking treasure chest. This is an exploding treasure chest.
To avoid getting damage, stand away and have Hanpan open the chest for you.
You'll get yourself a Heal Berry. Then, go back to your right, through the
door and up the stairs to the next area. Once here, go right to the treasure
chest to find 50 Gella, and then head left. When you swing north, bomb the
rocks in your way, and then go north s'more, then left again. You can either
go north through the door, or drop down to the floor below. Drop down to the
floor below and go north into the next room. Run up to some blocks blocking a
switch. Push the blocks out of the way, press the switch, and a door to the
north will open. Go north through this door and you'll find an exploding
treasure chest. Use Hanpan to open it, and you'll find a Crest Graph!
From here, run all the way back south. Press the switch to make the purple
barrier to your south disappear. Then, go east to the door. Retrace your steps
to where I told you to jump off of the catwalk. This time, instead of jumping,
go north into the next room. Go north across the corridor again into the next
room. Here, bear right, blowing up rocks in your way. Go up the righthand side
ladder, and then up another ladder to another catwalk. Here, you'll see two
ladders. Take the one up on the right and open the exploding treasure chest
there to get a Revive Fruit. Then, go all the way to the top of this series of
catwalks. You have to work your way back down in the middle to a large rock,
which you will bomb. This will reveal a switch. Press the switch with Hanpan
(away from it, so you don't get trapped by the purple barriers), and the door
to the north of the room will be open for you. Make sure to get the treasure
chest with 130 Gella in it on the bottom of the area after the switch is hit.
Then work your way via the ladders to the top of the area, and go through the
door.
In here, go straight up to the save seal. Save your game and proceed north
through the door into the next area. To your left is a chest surrounded by
blocks - we must first find the switch before we can get this treasure. So go
right, and then north into the next room. Here, approach the weird looking
door. Use Cecilia's Tear Drop on it to open it. Before going into this room,
make sure to push the blocks out of the way on either side of the door (to the
north) to find two treasure chests, one holding a Magic Carrot, the other
holding a Heal Berry. Then go in the door and read the plaque to read a bit on
what you have to do next. Once read, leave this room. Go south and take the
righthand side door out to a little platform with a switch on it. Press the
switch and go back north. This time, take the western door out of this room
and follow the pathway around to the downed purple barrier that was
surrounding a treasure chest. Open this chest to find 300 Gella.
Now go back to the room where we used the Tear Drop. Take the southern door
and go down the ladder. Head left and you'll find a partly concealed exploding
treasure chest. Open it with Hanpan to find a Hardy Apple. Now, go all the way
right, and then run north through one door, run up the corridor and north
through yet another door, where you'll find a winged statue. Analyze the back
of the statue and you'll find a switch. Press it and four blocks will appear.
Push the four blocks where the squares are surrounding the statue, and the
statue and blocks will disappear, revealing a staircase leading up to a large,
elaborately decorated door. Use Cecilia's Tear Drop on the door to open it,
and attempt to go through. You'll be stopped by a monster...
[BOSS BATTLE THREE] - M A G T O R T O U S
---- ------ ----- - - - - - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 1,800 HP
MP: ???
Special Attacks: EM Laser
Experience: 120 EXP
Gella: 320
A very easy boss battle indeed. Magtortous is a large, dragon-like beast that
looks more intimidating than he actually is. Other than brute physical attacks
(which are rather damaging, I do admit), his only other attack is called EM
Laser. EM Laser is a laser attack that damages all members in your party with
a good deal of damage. Other than that, keep attacking Magtortous. Have Rudy
use his Hand Cannon (and make sure to use ARM Lock-On when you're able!), have
Jack use the Psycho Crack sword technique, and have Cecilia heal. Use Mystic
to heal everyone with a Heal Berry when need-be. If you're feeling safe, Flame
or Blast work nicely on the enemy as well. He'll be defeated in no time!
[END BOSS BATTLE THREE]
After the boss battle, walk north through the large opened door. Before
approaching the large metal thing at the top of the room, open the treasure
chests flanking the being to find a Heal Berry and a Magic Carrot. Then,
approach the thing at the top center of the room. You'll find out that it's
actually a Golem. Learn a bit about the Golem in the proceeding text, and then
they decide to go tell Emma about the Golem. Work your way through Lolithia's
Tomb, all the way back to the beginning of the area. Find her where she
originally was within the Tomb, talk to her and you'll be brought back to
where the Golem is. Emma prepares to bring it back to Adlehyde, and then
you're on your own. Go back south to Adlehyde.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V. Adlehyde Festival
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Skeleton, Lizardman
Okay, so you've returned to Adlehyde. What to do now? Well Jack recommends
that we go to the Inn so we can all split up tomorrow, rested. Go to the Inn,
reload Rudy's ARM and then go to the counter to get yourself some beds for the
night. Cecilia decides to leave, and goes to the castle, leaving Rudy and Jack
alone at Adlehyde's inn. Finally, the morning of the festival in Adlehyde has
come. Walk outside of the Inn, save, and lets have some fun. The festival is
located in the Eastern Plaza of Adlehyde. There are a few games you can play
at the festival, and some prizes you can win as well, so go have some fun if
you so choose. There are two things we need to do at the festival. First, find
Emma and claim our 500 Gella reward. She's at the north end of the festival.
Then, go to the northeast end of the festival and talk to everyone until you
find a woman in distress. Her young boy is missing. He's carrying a red
balloon.
Go back to the main part of town and search in the middle of the town for this
boy. Talk to him, and a small FMV will take over. The skies get cloudy and
enemies start raining down from the skies! The boy is killed in all of the
melee. The idea here is to go north towards the castle now, to save Cecilia
from some enemies. Fight off the enemies surrounding her, and the three will
once again be reunited. Cecilia tells Jack and Rudy that the castle doors will
close in five minutes, so to get everyone inside the castle. Easy enough. Find
everyone in the area, there should be ten of them. Some are outside, some are
inside buildings. Five minutes is more than enough time to find them all. Try
not to fight the enemies in the area, but if you do, now worries. The time
stops whilst in battle. When everyone is assembled, go north into the castle.
An enemy named Belselk will appear, looking for Cecilia's Tear Drop. He'll
send his monsters to look at the Golems and then storm the castle walls. For
the time being, however, we are safe within the castle walls.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VI. Seeking Refuge in Adlehyde Castle
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: None.
Once inside the castle, the guards at the entrance won't let you leave, but
they reassure you that the castle is safe until everyone regroups. Go to the
throne room of the castle. To the left of it is a door guarded by a knight.
Talk to the knight to gain access to the corridor, and go all the way
upstairs, and into the King's bedroom. It seems as if he's been slain by the
enemy, and is on his deathbed.
Guards will come in and tell everyone that the castle will be stormed unless
the Tear Drop is given to the evil foe. The King refuses and sends Cecilia and
her friends to her room. Now, what we have to do is get to the castle's
kitchen without any guards catching us. Leave Cecilia's room and go all the
way south, and then west, and out the door. We'll be on the castle roof.
Carefully navigate westward, then go south, east, north, and west. Go north
into the door there and back into the castle. Make sure NO GUARDS touch you or
you'll be sent back to your room, and will have to do this over again. Now, go
north and through another door, then run to your west, and go south into the
kitchen. Talk to the chefs there and they'll bring you to the underground
passage out of the castle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VII. The Adlehyde Underground and the Great Escape
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Power Apple, Mystic Apple, 3 Gella, Agile Apple, 120 Gella,
Magic Carrot, Potion Berry
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Jellyblob, Gomoratoad
It's time to escape the castle via this underground (and very secretive!)
passageway. As we begin, save your game on the save seal. One can never be too
careful! From there, go east, and then south until the path splits, going east
and west. Go east, and follow the path all the way around to a small wooden
crate. Pick it up and throw it to get it out of your way, and then ignore
going south, but keeping heading west. Then, go south when you can go west no
longer. When the path goes west, follow the path west and wherever it winds.
It'll eventually lead to three small wooden crates in front of a treasure
chest. Remove the crates and open up the treasure chest to find a Power Apple.
Follow the path all the way back around and when you can go south, do so.
You'll run into six crates, in two rows of three. Remove them so that they are
no longer in your way, and swing east at your first possible chance. Go ALL
THE WAY EAST and you'll eventually run into a treasure chest. This treasure
chest holds a Mystic Apple for you to have. Go back west, and then swing south
quickly. Remove the crates on both sides and open the treasure chest for a
cool 3 Gella. =P Then, go back north, and head west. Head west until you can't
head west anymore, and then continue down the path southward.
When you can go west, do so. To go west, you must go south all the way down
the path. Go west, and work your way around the winding corridor until you run
into a solitary treasure chest, which holds for you an Agile Apple. Then head
back to the path that we took all the way south. This time, head east. Head
east all the way, then south all the way. Head east again, moving crates in
your way. At the end of this pathway is a treasure chest with 120 Gella
inside, waiting for you. Good deal. Go back west, and then north until you can
go east. When that time comes, head eastward.
Follow this linear path until it splits. You can either keep going south or go
west, and then south. Opt to go west and then south. Open the treasure chest
on your way (which holds a Magic Carrot), and then go south into the next
room. In here, save in the save seal, and then go east, through the door and
up the stairs into the next room. You'll come up in a house in Adlehyde. Open
the treasure chest next to you to get a Potion Berry, and then push the blocks
out of your way to get out of this house. Go to the center of town and meet up
with the evil Belselk. He'll ask for the Tear Drop and Cecilia will hand it
over. Jack, however, challenges Belselk, and this will thrust you head-on into
a boss battle.
[BOSS BATTLE FOUR] - B E L S E L K
---- ------ ----- - - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 2,000 HP
MP: ???
Special Attacks: Spinning Flail, Disrupting Flail
Experience: 200 EXP
Gella: 0
Although this is very much the hardest boss battle you've yet to face in the
game, it's still quite an elementary boss battle for you to contend with, so I
wouldn't put a whole lot of worry into it! This is our first of several
meetings with Belselk, so get used to him. He is equipped with a mace (or
flail) which he uses often. To combat it, you might have to heal often,
because his Disrupting Flail attack is especially damaging, although Spinning
Flail is nothing to laugh at either, believe you-me. Have Jack use Psycho
Crack on him and Rudy use his Hand Cannon ARM (locking on if you so choose).
Cecilia should concentrate on healing when needed, although her Flame spell
will chip away nicely at his health as well. He'll eventually leave the
battle, generally unharmed, coincidentally.
[END BOSS BATTLE FOUR]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VIII. The Death of a King and a new Journey
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: 500 Gella, Lucky Card, Bullet Clip, 100 Gella, Revive Fruit,
Mystic Apple, 1,000 Gella, Power Apple, Magic Carrot
Items to Buy: Just upgrade the Hand Cannon ARM (once each stat), and buy a few
of each item and the item store.
Enemies: None.
After Belselk is defeated, we are automatically transported back to Adlehyde
Castle. King Adlehyde himself is about to die, but before he does Cecilia
tells him that she gave up the Tear Drop to save everyone and that she vows to
get it back. She eventually convinces Jack and Rudy to join her (even cutting
off her hair in the process), even though Jack feels deceived that he's
actually been working with royalty all this time. Regardless, he eventually
agrees to go.
A game-ending like scenario then takes place in which the funeral processions
take place for the King and everyone else fallen in the sacking of Adlehyde by
the demons. The demons are shown making off with the Golems as well, which
were excavated by Professor Emma. Eventually, you get control of Jack and Rudy
once more. From the bedroom you two are staying in, work your way to Cecilia's
room to pick her up. Save your game at the save parrot in Cecilia's room, and
then go south to the war room, where Minister Johan is waiting for the party
to arrive. He tells the party to go west, to a cave. Easy enough. There are
treasure chests galore waiting for you in this room, so open them all up. 500
Gella, Lucky Card, Bullet Clip, 100 Gella, Revive Fruit, Mystic Apple, 1,000
Gella, Power Apple, Magic Carrot - that's what's waiting for you in those
chests. Once that's all said and done, head back to the town itself.
The town is in ruins, but there is still some things we need to take care of.
First and foremost, hit up Emma's place and upgrade each stat in your Hand
Cannon ARM once. Then, head to the item shop in town and purchase a few of
each item, just so we have whatever it is we need. If you have any spare Crest
Graphs, now's the time to use those as well. Bind spells to them at the Magic
Guild in town. Finally, find the large house on the west side of town. This is
where the reconstruction committee meets. Make a donation to them, and then
we're all set and ready to leave town.
To get to said Mountain Pass, we must head west to a sign from Adlehyde. Read
the sign to learn that the Mountain Pass we seek is to the southwest. Go south
from the sign, then west across a bridge, south some more, and the Mountain
Pass entrance will be to your west.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IX. The Mountain Pass
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Magic Carrot, Antidote x3, Heal Berry x2, Magic Map
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Lizardman, Gomoratoad, Dryad, Harpy
As you enter the Mountain Pass, talk to the two guards if you'd like, who'll
tell you that you've been granted passage through the pass. Go north, heading
past them. When you get north, you'll notice some red flowers all over the
place. You'll see them throughout the Mountain Pass. Avoid as best you can
walking on them, as you will get damaged each and every time you do.
Apparently, they're poisonous. =) Anyway, head west and the north and through
the door.
You'll now be in a darkened room. While there are oil lamps within the room
that can be lit, we can't yet light them, for we have nothing to be the fire's
catalyst. So what do we do? Well, follow my lead, for we need to find the
Lighter. It's Jack's second tool, and can be used to start various fires. Head
north form the entrance until you run into the oil lamp. Then, head west, and
then north again. You'll run into the Lighter at the bottom of some stairs.
With that in hand, head back to the lamp at the beginning of the room and
light it, then head back to the stairs and run up them.
At the top of the stairs, head east to some rocks in your way. Quickly have
Rudy get rid of them with his Bombs, then go past the debris and south to a
treasure chest. However, you must again use the Bombs to get the rocks out of
the way so you can gain access to the treasure chest. Inside the treasure
chest, you'll find a Magic Carrot. Run all the way north now, and light the
lamp there if you so desire. Then, head west and to the door into the next
area. In here, head north and light up the lamp. Then, go west slightly and
run straight north, where you'll find two treasure chests, within them an
Antidote and Heal Berry. Run south and back east to the lamp. This time, head
east to the rock blocking the staircase in front of you. Bomb it with Rudy's
Bombs and run north up the staircase. Once up the staircase, follow the linear
pathway as it winds to a lamp and another doorway into another area. Blocking
the doorway are some rocks that can be destroyed with some of Rudy's Bombs.
Light the lamp if you want, but head north and through the door into the next
area.
In here, you can go west after destroying some rocks in your way with Rudy's
Bombs, or go north through a door into a new room. First, go north through a
door. In here, you'll find a save seal. Save your game, then go back south
into the previous room. Go west, knocking out the rocks in your way via the
Bombs, and go west some more, then south and outside. Once outside, head west
to the staircase leading downward. Go down the stairs, and go east. You'll run
into a treasure chest. Open it to find a Heal Berry. Then, head west, past the
stairs we just went down, and keep heading west. Eventually, some nasty winds
will come up and some automatic text takes over. Jack feels that he can
acquire the skill of the wind, and you acquire a Fast Draw Hint. Make sure
that you keep using ?????? in the Fast Draw column in battle until Jack
finally learns it. When he learns it is random, but the more you use it, the
faster you will learn it. Anyway, Sonic Buster is the skill.
Continue west and go down the first set of stairs you come to. Then, head
west. You'll come across a treasure chest. Open it to find an Antidote. Then,
turn around and head back east. Go south down the stairs and you'll come
across another treasure chest, with another Antidote in it. From there, head
all the way west. Go south down the stairs, then bare east, south, and down
another set of stairs. Head west, and then north into the door, which leads
back into the mountain.
From here, head north, then west, then south. Light up the lamps as you go.
It's linear up to a certain point, so no worries. Make sure to avoid the red
flowers, make sure to light every lamp you come across, and just follow the
linear path. When it splits, take the western path first. Go over the red
flowers to the treasure chest and get an Olive Branch. Equip it if you'd like,
then go back north, east, and continue on your way southward. As soon as the
path goes south and another goes west, go west, bombing the rocks in your way
with Rudy's Bombs to gain entrance. Light the lamp there and open the semi-
concealed treasure chest to the south of the lamp to get a Crest Graph!
Woohah. Then, go back east, and south down the path some more. You'll come out
on the other end, in the second-to-last room before the exit out of the pass.
You'll see a discolored wall to your right. Use Rudy's Bombs on it to break
the wall, and open the treasure chest within to get the Magic Map, which you
can view on the World Map by pressing Select. Anywho, with that in hand, head
south and out of the cave.
From here, go straight south, and you'll run into our next objective, the town
of Milama.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
X. Milama Village
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: 10gal Hat, Cute Ribbon, Mystic Apple, Crest Graph, Heal Berry,
Agile Apple, Power Apple, Potion Berry, 690 Gella, Hardy Apple, 123 Gella,
Metal Band, Violet Rose
Items to Buy: Armor Vest, Sun Poncho, Mist Blazer, Bastard Sword, Might Blade,
Dream Wand
Enemies: None.
When we get here, we have some stuff to do, but first thing's first - lets
comb the area for items we can find. First of all, go north and up the stairs
to your left. Go all the way left, and search the three barrels there. One has
a 10gal Hat, which you should equip on Jack. If you go back to your east a
bit, and go into the first house (the one to the right of the church) in this
area, you'll find four barrels on the righthand side wall. Search them to get
a Cute Ribbon, which you should equip on Cecilia. Now, from here, go behind
the church, past the trees, and north to the next house you come to. Go inside
this house and search the barrels there to find a Mystic Apple. Then, go
outside of the house, around the back of it, and then to the left side of the
house (only obtainable via the back because of the barrels blocking you from
the front). Search the barrels there to find a Crest Graph.
Work your way to the house directly in front of the water in the area (it's
almost at the center north of the village). Analyze the two barrels to the
east of the house's entrance to find a Heal Berry. Now, from there, go east a
bit and down the stairs. Go east and you'll come across three large crates.
Using Rudy's Bombs, blow the three crates up to reveal a Power Apple, Agile
Apple and a Potion Berry. Pick those up. Finally, to the north of these crates
are some barrels. Search them to find 690 Gella.
If you work your way back to the beginning of the town and take the righthand
side stairs this time, you'll be by an Inn. At the righthand side of the inn
(on the outside) are some barrels. Search them to find a Hardy Apple. Okay,
now if you take the path south of the Weapon Shop and go up the stairs to your
right at the end, you'll find 123 Gella in one of the barrels on the right
side of that house, and within the house in a barrel you'll find a Metal Band,
which you should equip on Rudy. Finally, to the left of the town pub's
entrance are some barrels - within one, you'll find a Violet Rose.
Now you should talk to everyone in town. Make sure to find the guy selling
armor roaming behind the church at the west side of town. Buy an Armor Vest,
Sun Poncho and Mist Blazer off of him, making sure to equip each piece of
armor on its respective character. At the town's weapon shop, invest in a
Bastard Sword, Might Blade and Dream Wand, equipping those on the correct
characters as well. If for some reason you don't have enough money for all of
the new gear, go outside of town and fight until you do. You NEED this gear,
so make sure to get it all. Also, cash in your Crest Graphs at the Magic Guild
as well, and, of course, save, heal and reload your ARM at the Inn. Once
that's done, and you're healed and saved, go to the town's pub, and enter into
it.
Talk to everyone within, and finally, talk to the bartender. He'll ask you to
wait when you ask him about the Guardian Temple. Finally, after eating and
after the Pub's cleared out, he'll tell you a secret: "Light the fire at 2,
then at 10. When you light the fire at 6, the doors will open at 12. Go
through the temple with the light." After giving you that hint (which we'll
use in just a short time), the bartender will give you the Holy Medal. The
Holy Medal is not an equippable item, so keep it until later on...
When you're sure you've done all you need to do here, and you have optimum
equipment on your characters, we can leave. Go north and slightly west of
Milama Village to get to the Guardian Shrine.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XI. Guardian Shrine
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Mystic Apple x3, Magic Carrot x2, Crest Graph x2
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Scarecrow, Lizardman, Critter, Cockatrice
From the beginning of the shrine, simply run to the north end, and then take
either stairway at the left or right of the closed center door to get to the
second floor. In here, twelve torches are in the room, shaped like a clock.
Remember the words of the bartender back at Milama...:
"Light the fire at 2, then at 10. When you light the fire at 6, the doors will
open at 12. Go through the temple with the light."
12
11 01
10 02
09 03
08 04
07 05
06
The above is a picture of the clock, since it is unmarked in the game.
According to the bartender's words, you must light 2, then 10, then 6, then
12. So do so, using Jack's lighter for fire. If done correctly, all of the
lanterns will then light. If you mess up, use Cecilia's Pocket Watch to reset
the puzzle. Otherwise, go back downstairs to the shrine's first floor. Go to
the door in the middle of this room and use the Holy Medal the Milama
bartender gave you. Once used on the door, it disappears, but so does the
door. Go through the door and down the stairs into the next room.
Once here, run straight south through the door there, where you'll find
yourself in a small room with three treasure chests. In each chest is a Mystic
Apple. Use all three Mystic Apples on Cecilia to strengthen her magic
significantly. Go back north, and then go to the northeast and northwest side
of this room. Each side has a treasure chest, and in both chests are Magic
Carrots. With those gotten, go on the righthand side of the room (if not
already there), and go through the door at the northeast side of the room.
Once in the next corridor, go right all the way down the corridor, and through
the door at the north of the dead end. Within this room is a treasure chest,
which you should open to find a Crest Graph. Go back south through the door,
west down the corridor, and north through the door at the other dead end. Once
here, go west through this room, ignoring the door at the north for now, and
south through the door at the west side of this room. Once in this next
corridor, go west down this corridor, north at the dead end into another room,
and open yet another treasure chest for another Crest Graph.
Go back south, then east, then north, and north again through a door. Go north
a bit in this corridor to find a save seal. Save your game, and go north
through another door. In here, there are seven torches, lined up like so:
A B
C D E
F G
Now this is weird, because for each torch lit, it makes a pathway to another
torch so that you can light up all seven in a certain order. If you mess this
puzzle up, make sure to use Cecilia's Pocket Watch to reset the puzzle.
Otherwise, the order to light the torches (using Jack's lighter) is: B, E, A,
F, C, G, D. Once lit up, the northern door will open up. Go through it.
You'll be in a room with a mysterious mirror at the center. Stoldark will
speak to Cecilia, and Cecilia agrees that they must go through this mysterious
mirror. Cecilia is the first to go through the mirror. Jack and Rudy follow
suit... we now have to play each character independently again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XII. Guardian Shrine - Jack's Quest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Lizardman
With control of Jack, run north to the switch in front of a small barrier.
Press the switch to make the barrier go down, and continue northward. You'll
eventually get to another barrier. There's a switch over the chasm to your
right. Use Hanpan to hit this switch and make the barrier go down. Go north
some more, and the same situation arises, except you have to use Hanpan on the
switch across the chasm to your left. Two more of these scenarios will arise,
this time you have to shoot Hanpan diagonally to hit the switches and make the
barriers go down. Finally, go through the north door and into the next room.
In here, we must hit the various switches in order to get north and through
the door at the north end. It's not worth explaining, because it's rather
easy. When you get all the way through to the north door, and go through this
door, you'll be in a room with a sword. Grab the sword and try to lift it up.
The sword will be in Jack's hands for but a second before it disappears into
nothingness, and he is transported to a blackened dream. People accuse him of
being cowardly, or not protecting people. He wants the power, but he knows not
how to use it! And then suddenly, these people disappear and he's on a lone
platform... by himself.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XIII. Guardian Shrine - Rudy's Quest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Sphinx
Now, choose to be Rudy. Run north and you'll run into some large, square
boulders. Use Rudy's Bombs to blow them to pieces, and when you get to the
northern door, go through it. In here, you have to follow a labyrinth like
maze, blowing up more boulders as you go. Since most of the boulders hide
holes in the ground, follow this path:
Take the left-hand side and blow up the boulder there. Go north, blow up
another, and then swing east. Blow up the boulder here, then go north. Go
north again, then left, then north. Go north again, then left twice, going
north once more. Go north again, then go right. You'll be out of the
labyrinth. Go north through the door, where you'll meet up with Tony, the
young boy we saved earlier in the game. He'll say that the monsters are
coming, and Rudy slays the monster automatically. Tony expresses his concern,
and his concern with Rudy's powers. Many people start to appear and tell Rudy
he and his powers aren't welcome on Filgaia. Suddenly, Rudy appears as a
monster in the mirror, and is transported to that loan platform with Jack...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XIV. Guardian Shrine - Cecilia's Quest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: None.
As Cecilia, run north. You'll come across two narrow corridors with two blocks
you have to push. Push the left block north. When you come out on the other
side, another of this same puzzle will be there waiting for you. Again, push
the left block. A third one will meet you on the other side - this time, opt
to use the right block. Finally, go north and through the door.
In here, push the left block up so you can, yourself, go left. Then, go to the
next block, push it left, then go north through the door into the next room.
Start to run north along the corridor and you'll end up in Adlehyde Castle's
throne room! Johan and some soldiers will talk to you, telling you no one
loves you, and you just want sympathy and respect. Suddenly, Cecilia, too, is
thrust to where Jack and Rudy are.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XV. The Guardians Speak, and the Enemy is Revealed
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: None.
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: None.
As the three characters congregate on the platform, three guardians come to
meet them. The guardians of wind, fire and earth tell them of their destiny.
And although you are very weak in the opinion of the guardians, they agree
that Jack, Rudy and Cecilia are their only hope. And with that in mind, they
give you all the Summon Guardian skill! Suddenly, Zeikfried, son of the evil
Mother (which the Guardians talk about) appears in his lair.
He will speak for a moment. Another of his group, Lady Harken, will appear.
She will say that with the humans and Guardians in direct contact, their evil
plots might have a problem becoming reality. However, Zeikfried combats this
point of view, saying that the Elws, Humans and Guardians are weak, and since
the planet is dying anyway, they have little to protect. Then, another of the
evil group, Alhazad, appears. He agrees with the words of Zeikfried, stating
that the Elws no longer helping the humans goes to the demon's advantage.
Then, Belselk (who we've fought already) appears. He and Lady Harken fight for
a bit, and then Zeikfried states the name of the four - the Quarter Knights.
Belselk goes to stop your party, while Alhazad and Lady Harken disappear as
well. After Zeikfried talks to Mother for a moment, we're brought back to the
party's location.
They appear in the middle of no where. As the three of them awaken, they try
to find out where they are. Then Cecilia realizes she's holding three stones
in her hand - the Earth Rune, the Fire Rune and the Wind Rune! Woohah, we have
their strength now! Our next objective is the town to the east - Baskar
Village.

XVI. The Village of Baskar

Items to Find: 98 Gella, Heal Berry x2, Power Apple, Magic Carrot, Agile
Apple, 800 Gella, Crest Graph
Items to Buy: Claymore, Vopal Razor, Prism Stick, Guard Jacket, Journey Coat,
Magus Robe
Enemies: None.
As we enter this Indian motif town, lets first explore for anything we can
grab for free. From the entrance, go east to the item shop. On the outside of
the shop, you'll find some firewood and two barrels in front of this wood.
Search the barrels to get 98 Gella. On the other end of the item shop, you'll
find more firewood and a small wooden crate. Pick up the crate and throw it to
break it. Within will be a Heal Berry for you to have. Now, in the center of
town where the save parrot is, he's flanked by two barrels on either side.
Search the barrels on his right to find a Power Apple.
A house in the northeast section of town has some crates on the outside right
of the house. Pick them up and break them to find a Magic Carrot. To the left
of this house are some teepees. The rightmost tent has a barrel in front of
it. Search it to find an Agile Apple. To the left of the tents is another
house. Around the house are crates. Break them to find a Heal Berry. The house
in the northwest corner of town, on the inside, has some Gella. 800 Gella, to
be exact. Outside of the house and slightly to the south is a teepee. In front
of this teepee is a barrel, and inside the barrel is a Crest Graph, so make
sure to grab that puppy as well. After that, we're done with the search.
It's time to find out or next quest and whatnot, and then upgrade our weapons
and armor. First, lets find out just what we're doing here. The house with the
save parrot in front of it is the village chief's house. Go in and talk to
him, and he'll tell you that you were called by Zephyr to come and help out to
save Filgaia from the oncoming Demon onslaught. We have to go talk to someone
in the northern mountains who can be of great assistance to us in our quest.
And we will do that. But first, weapons.
Find the wandering weapons/armor/items dealer in the southwest part of town.
Talk to him and examine his wares. You'll need to buy a Claymore, Vopal Razor,
Prism Stick, Guard Jacket, Journey Coat and Magus Robe from him, which will
cost you 6,360 Gella - probably more then you currently have. But this is a
problem that can be taken care of with some simple running around and fighting
enemies to gain the Gella (and experience) we need.
Once the weapons are gotten, the armor is gotten, et cetera, it's time for us
to go to Mount Zenom as directed. You'll find it due north (and slightly west)
of Baskar.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XVII. Mount Zenom
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Heal Berry x6, Lucky Card, Blue Circlet, Secret Sign, Potion
Berry,
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: Hobgoblin, Shrieker, Harpy, Tiny Edge, Devonova, Orga Widow (Boss)
As you enter into the mountain, you'll be outside in some snow. Go north and
talk to the Baskar native at the entrance to the mountain. He'll let you go
past. Enter into the mountain. In this room, there are four statues. Three of
them are glowing. They look a little something like the picture below. Simply
take the statue (labeled Statue D) and push it forward as the arrow below
indicates. All you have to do, to push the statue, is simply get below it and
walk upwards. This will move the statue into place accordingly.
|Door|
[Stat1] [Stat2]
[Stat3] ^
|
[Stat4]
When that's all said and done, the door to the north will open up, revealing a
staircase going upwards. Go through the door and up the stairs into the next
room.
Here, go south, then go east, following the pathway. Swing south again, and go
out the door. You'll now be on the outside of Mount Zenom. Go west, and open
the treasure chest you come across at the left side of a tree to find a Heal
Berry. Then, go directly north until you can't anymore. In that region, there
is a mostly-concealed treasure chest there, concealed for the most part by a
tree. Inside this chest is an all-valuable Lucky Card. Save 'er for later!
Once that's gotten, continue to head west down the snowy path. At the end of
the path, you'll find a door going north back into the mountain. Before going
through this door, go all the way west and open the treasure chest there to
find a Blue Circlet. Then, go in the door, and back into the mountain.
Once back inside, run north, then west, then north again, following the linear
path as it twists and turns. Eventually, as you're heading north, you'll come
across some brownish grass. How it got there I'm not sure, but it's certainly
blocking your path. Break out Jack's lighter and burn the grass to get through
and continue on your way northward. After getting all the way north, you'll
come to a door, and stairs leading up to the next level. Go through this door
and up the stairs.
Now, head south. Burn the grass that's in your way with Jack's lighter, and
continue on your merry way, and south through the door, into the next room.
We'll be outside once again. Now head east along the snowy terrain. When you
come across a staircase going farther up the mountain to your north, go up it,
and go north to come across a treasure chest. Within the chest, you will find
a Secret Sign, which you can use on any of Jack's Fast Draw sword techniques
to lower the MP it needs to cast it by one. Save it until we get better Fast
Draws, though. Now, head back south, and back down the stairs. Go slightly
east of the staircase, and north, through the door and back into the mountain
itself.
Just head north along the path until you get to a fork. You can either go
south or north. Head south and you'll come across three more statues. Again,
three are glowing blue and one isn't, and the one that isn't is slightly off
in a straight-line alignment with the others. See the picture below.
[Stat1]-> [Stat2] [Stat3] [Stat4]
Simply push the first, non-glowing statue over as the arrow above indicates,
and it'll fit right into place. Once that's done, go north. Run all the way
north, to the door there, and up the stairs to the next floor. Once here, it's
simple. Go east until you come across more brown grass. As usual, use Jack's
lighter on the grass to pass through where you need to. At the end of the
path, you'll have to swing south. Then, simply go out the door, and you'll be
back outside of the mountain. Go south and down the stairs, and you'll come
across five brown treasure chests. Remember from earlier in the game, these
treasure chests explode! To avoid the explosion, use Hanpan to open the five
treasure chests, and you'll get five Heal Berries. With those in hand, go back
up the stairs, or at least attempt to. Some rocks will rain down, nearly
killing the party. Jack uses this experience to learn a Fast Draw hint. Make
sure to keep using it in battle, and you'll find that it's the Meteor Dive
sword technique, a very, very powerful Fast Draw indeed! Now, head up the
stairs, and then head all the way west, where you'll find a door going back
into the mountain, and a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest to find a
Potion Berry, and then go north and back into the mountain.
In here, head all the way north, destroying grass you come to. When you can no
longer go north, you'll head west until you can't head west anymore. At that
point, you'll run into one of many patches of brown grass in the area. Burn it
to find that the grass was hiding a switch! Press this switch, and then head
north. The door there will now be open because of this switch you've pressed,
so you can go through the door and up the stairs into the next room. In here,
head south, burn the grass around the door, and go through the door to once
again get outside of the mountain, back in the snow. Once out there, head
south, then bear west, and go back in the mountain via a new door.
In here, there's a locked door to the north. On either side of the door, there
are four statues, eight in total. We need to push the two (one on each side)
that aren't glowing into alignment with the others. This will allow the door
at the north end of the room to open up. See the picture below, and follow the
arrows accordingly to push the statues back into place.
[Stat1] ^ [Stat3] [Stat4] [Door] [Stat5] [Stat6] [Stat7] ^

[Stat2] [Stat8]
Once both statues are back in place and the eight statues form a straight
line, the door will open. Run straight through this door, and north in this
next room to come across a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest to get the
Mystic Word, a left-hand item for Cecilia. Make sure to equip that on her
RIGHT AWAY, it's a super-power item for her to have. It raises her magic
strength and defense significantly. With that in hand, head south through both
rooms so that you're back outside in the snow.
Now, head all the way west, and then north and back into the mountain. Run
straight north through another door and up some stairs, and you'll be in a
room with a save seal. Save your game, heal your characters, then go south and
you'll be back outside on the snowy mountain. From here, go east and then
north until you come across another door leading back inside. We'll have more
statue pushing to do. Look at the picture below and follow the arrows to fix
the non-glowing statues. We're attempting to make a vertical line with the
statues to make the door at the north of the room open.

When all pushed in a vertical line, one on top of another, you'll hear and
feel a rumbling. The door to the north has been opened up. You'll once again
be outside, and in front of a statue. Go ahead and analyze the statue, and
Belselk will appear. Whilst the party and Belselk are both wanting to fight,
Belselk decides to send out Orga Widow on you instead...
[BOSS BATTLE FIVE] - O R G A W I D O W
---- ------ ---- - - - - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 5,200 HP
MP: ???
Special Attacks: Poison
Experience: 300
Gella: 990
The Orga Widow, as the name might suggest, is a large spider. But there's
seriously nothing to be scared of here. Other than his multiple-hit Poison
attack, there's no threat from this enemy. He uses mostly physical attacks,
and the random Poison attack. Have Rudy use his ARM, Jack should use Meteor
Dive, and Cecilia should heal by using Mystic on Heal Berries. If someone gets
poisoned, have Cecilia heal that as well. In the turns when she needs not heal
anyone, have her cast Freeze (if you have it) on the Orga Widow. This ice-
water attack is extremely damaging on the enemy. He'll fall in no time, you
just gotta be patient and heal when and where necessary!
[END BOSS BATTLE FIVE]
When the Orga Widow is dispatched, the statue at the top of the screen gives
you the Summit Rune, but the heart fragment within the statue was stolen by
Belselk. The birth of Mother is on the horizon. Anyway, we now have to leave
the dungeon, so do that now. Just backtrack... it sucks, but the experience
and money we'll get in the process is key. When you leave the mountain
finally, the guy at the entrance will tell you to go back to Baskar and talk
to the elders there. Leave the area and a cut-scene will take over.
We'll be brought to the lair of the evil Mother. She awakens with the power
from the fallen Guardian statue. She calls out to Zeikfried, but then a man
name Zed appears, and the scene suddenly ends.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XVIII. The Quest Ahead
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Hard Guard
Items to Buy: None.
Enemies: None
Upon your return to Baskar, go straight to the village chief's house and talk
to him. He'll tell you that although one seal is broken, the other two that
exist aren't. These two seals are located at Saint Centour and Port Timney. We
MUST get there before the Quarter Knights do! Getting just one will prevent
Mother from coming back to us.
The chief then speaks of Elw Pyramids, which are traveling devices. We need
the Kizim Fire to light the Pyramids' fire, and that is given to us by the
chief. With that in hand, it's time for our next objective.
Heal up within the chief's house (you can sleep there for free), then save
your game. Leave Baskar and head northeast. You'll run into the Elw Pyramid he
speaks of. Enter into it. Once in here, go north, and when the path splits, go
left. Go behind the small waterfall there to find a secret door with stairs
leading downward. Once down in this secret area, go right and then north at
the door. Approach the odd hole in the wall in this room and use the Kizim
Fire in front of it that the chief of Baskar gave you. The fire will light.
Leave this room, go back west and then upstairs. Go all the way north and to
the green orb on the floor. This is the teleportation device of the Elws.
You'll bounce into space, off of a satellite and back in another Elw Pyramid.
Walk south out of this room, and follow the pathway out of this particular Elw
Pyramid, making sure to veer rightward off of the path to open the treasure
chest there, which has a Hard Guard for Jack, which you should equip on him
right away. And with that said, go south and out of the Elw Pyramid. Walk
south from here and you'll run right into our next destination; Saint Centour.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XIX. Saint Centour
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: 100 Gella, Crest Graph, 1,000 Gella, 250 Gella, Hardy Apple,
Items to Buy: Bronze Sword, Crystal Edge, Rune Staff, Chain Cloak, Survive
Cape and Protect Cape
Enemies: None
As soon as you enter the Saint Centour area, walk north towards the entrance
into the town itself, and you'll be stopped and pushed back. The town is
protected by something that can find non-human spirits and not let them in the
town. Since Hanpan isn't human, the party is stopped from entering. A man
comes out and tells them to re-enter (tucking Hanpan deeper into Jack's
pockets), and then the party successfully enters the town.
Before we get going, lets explore the town for anything we can find. The pub,
which is at the southeast end of town, has some barrels around it. The barrel
to the left of the entrance into the pub has 100 Gella in it. If you travel
around the outside of the pub to the back, and then go to the right side of
the pub via the back, there are more barrels. Search those to find a Crest
Graph. In the very southwest corner of town, in front of a house, are some
barrels. Examine them to find 1,000 Gella. Behind the Magic/ARMs building at
the north end of town are some barrels, to the back left of the building.
There's 250 Gella there. To the left of these barrels is a house up some
stairs. Enter the house and search the barrel within to find a Hardy Apple.
Finally, there's a building in the northwest of town that we can't get into.
However, to the south of this building is another house. Within this house,
search the barrels for a Power Apple.
Now, to buy... and oh we must buy! 9,850 Gella to buy what we need as far as
weapons and armor. If you don't have it, get it - fight outside of town or
whatever. When you do, go to the weapon and armor store in the northeast of
town and purchase a Bronze Sword, Crystal Edge, Rune Staff, Chain Cloak,
Survive Cape and Protect Cape. With those all in hand and equipped, we have
but one more thing to take care of. Go to the house to the west of the town
entrance. Enter into it and talk to the man there. He'll talk to you a bit,
tell you about a place called Cage Tower, and give you an item called the Key
Plate. Take it, and now we head to Cage Tower, which is located northeast of
Saint Centour. Quite easy to find.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XX. Cage Tower
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Crest Graph, Bullet Clip, Round Shield, Prism Laser, Goat Doll
x3,
Items to Buy: None
Enemies: Critter, Hell Hound, Larva, Dekarabia, Tailmooze, N. Gaunt (Boss)
Upon entering outside of the tower, approach the large locked door. Use the
Key Plate the man in Saint Centour gave you, and the door will open. Then,
simply go through into the first room in the tower. As you go north in this
first room, you'll notice two doors at the north of the room with staircases
both leading up. Take the lefthand side door first, and up to the next floor.
In this small room, press the switch, then go back down the stairs to the
previous room. This time, take the door and the stairs up to the next floor on
your right. You'll see that because we just pressed the switch in the other
room, the purple barrier surrounding this particular door is now down.
Once up here, head south, and then west. When the path swings north with a
door right next to it with stairs going back downstairs, ignore the door and
stairs for now, and run north up this path. At the end of this path you'll
find a treasure chest. Within the treasure chest is a Crest Graph. With that
in hand, head back south. The doorway with the stairs leading down that we
ignored before - go down those. Once down on this floor, follow the linear
pathway to another floor switch. Press it, then run back to the stairs and go
back up them. Once back on the second floor, go east, then north, then east,
and then south. This will lead you to another door with a staircase leading
down. Descend the stairs...
Now that we're on the first floor once again, simply go north and then west to
another door with more stairs going up. Go back up via these new stairs to the
second floor. Then simply go left and up the stairs to the third floor. On the
third floor, you have to run south, then west, and then north to another door
with the stairs leading to the fourth floor. However, gapping the chasms on
this floor are platforms that, once stood on, fall into the chasm. So what you
have to do is when you see these square-shaped light green platforms, run
across them to avoid falling into the chasms below. When you get all the way
around and to the stairs, go up to the fourth floor. Up here, it's more of the
same. Run south along the crumbling platforms, but as you run west, make sure
to bear northward onto the platform there. Switch to Rudy, as he's the only
one who can open up the silver treasure chest there. Within this chest is
Rudy's second ARM, the Prism Ray. In the two chests flanking it are a Bullet
Clip and a Round Shield. Make sure to equip the Round Shield on Rudy. Then, go
back on the disappearing platforms, head west, then north and to the door with
the stairs leading up to the fifth floor.
This part can get a bit complicated. If you mess up here, you'll fall into the
chasms below, which is no big deal, you'll just start at the beginning of the
room. But if you mess up on a stationary platform, use Cecilia's Watch to go
back to the beginning of the room and reset everything. Anyway, run south down
the platforms and then bear west. Go south on the stationary platform and hit
the switch. Then go north, then west to the next stationary platform. Press
another switch there. Then go north to the final stationary platform. Go
through the door and up the stairs to the next floor.
On this floor, simply run south, then west, then north, to the next door with
stairs leading up to the next floor. On this floor, you're gonna do the same
thing; just the other way. South, then east, then north, and up the stairs to
the next floor. Here, go south, then west, then go north to the save seal.
Heal your characters, save your game, and then go back south to the previous
path. Continue heading west, then go north to the staircase and doorway
leading up to the next floor. Here, look to the right of the stairs you just
came up. Read the plaque on the wall, and learn a bit about the sun. Just
remember: East, West, East. Go south to the three staircases there. Take the
east one, then the west one, then the east one again. You'll not know if you
did it right because the area will continue to look the same, but as long as
you go west, east, east, you're all set. When you do that, go back to the
north of the room. A different door is there. Go through the door and up the
stairs to the next floor.
Here, go south. At the south end of the room are three treasure chests. Within
these chests are Goat Dolls, a total of three of them. Goat Dolls are super
rare and super powerful items. When equipped in your left hand, and if you die
in battle, you will be revived automatically. However, once revived, the Goat
Doll disappears. Anyway, grab those, then go up the stairs right in front of
those treasure chests to the next floor. In here, go to the north of the room,
through another door and up another flight of stairs to another floor. It's
easy from here. Keep heading up various staircases. Finally, you'll get to the
top of the tower. To the south of this room is a door leading to the outside
of the tower. Go through this door. Climb up the various ladders and whatnot,
and approach the middle of the top of the tower.
A triangular trap will be set here by Alhazad, one of the Quarter Knights.
Being "gentler" than Belselk, Alhazad simply traps you in this triangle, and
sends out his friend N. Gaunt on you while he takes care of business in Saint
Centour. Oh baby, here we go!
[BOSS BATTLE SIX] - N . G A U N T
---- ------ --- - - - - - -
HP: Approximately 7,350 HP
MP: ???
Special Attacks: Mysterious Ray
Experience: 830
Gella: 3,500 Gella
N. Gaunt is a fairly easy boss to do battle with. Other than having the fairly
powerful multiple-hit attack called Mysterious Ray (which he uses not too
often), N. Gaunt fights the entire battle via physical attacks. What you want
to do is the following - have Rudy use his Hand Cannon, have Jack use his
Meteor Dive, and have Cecilia do the following: heal with Heal Berries (via
Mystic) when needed. When she doesn't need to heal, use Break on the enemy.
Being that he's an airborne enemy, he's weak to Earth attacks, so Break is
your best bet. If you attack consistently enough, the enemy will only last six
or seven rounds before falling to your attacks. Remember: Hand Cannon, Meteor
Dive, Break/Mystic Heal Berry. If you do that, you'll be all set!
[END BOSS BATTLE SIX]
After the battle ends, the party tries to escape the trap set for them on top
of the tower to no avail. Suddenly, a mysterious woman appears. She says that
the party took her bounty by killing the creature here. However, the party
can't get out, so this mysterious bounty hunter offers to get them out for
2,000 Gella. It's steep, but offer to pay it up anyway. She'll shoot one of
the three conductors and you'll be free. She introduces herself as Jane
Maxwell, or Calamity Jane. Her "servant"'s name is McDullen. They take your
2,000 Gella and leave. From here, we need to leave Cage Tower. If you have the
Escape spell (which you should by now), use it to get out of the tower.
Otherwise, work your way all the way down. We need to return to Saint Centour.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XXI. Saint Centour's Been Sacked
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Saint Rune, Potion Berry x2, Secret Sign, Lucky Card, Bone,
Bullet Clip, Duplicator, Ambrosia
Items to Buy: None
Enemies: Dekarabia, Hell Hound
Once back in the town, you'll notice things are very quiet. No one is outside
of their houses. And whilst some people are in their houses, not much else is
going on. The town has been sacked by a legion of demons headed by Alhazad,
one of the Quarter Knights. The statue holding a piece of the Queen's heart
has been destroyed, the piece taken. First thing's first - go to the destroyed
statue and analyze it to find the Saint Rune (which I'd equip on Jack if I
were you). From there, lets do some further exploration of the town.
If you go to the now-empty pub in the southeast corner of town, you'll be able
to get behind the counter now that no one is there to block you. Behind it are
three treasure chests. Open them up to find two Potion Berries and a Secret
Sign. If you go to the north of the pub and up some stairs, you'll find a
treasure chest now-abandoned. Open it up to find a Lucky Card.
North of where we got the Lucky Card, to the right of the weapon shop, is
another abandoned treasure chest. Within it is a Bone. Grab that. From there,
head to the west side of town. There's a large house on the western border of
the town, near the north end. Go inside of it, and you'll have access now to
the basement (there was a white cat guarding the door earlier). In this small
basement is a treasure chest. Push the blocks in front of it out of the way
and open the chest to find a Bullet Clip. To the north of this house is what
seems to be a storage area. It's a building that was guarded, but not now.
Enter into it and you'll see a treasure chest. Push the blocks out of the way
and open the chest to find your first Duplicator, which is a special key that
opens up mysteriously locked doors around Filgaia. You'll see just how useful
this item is before long.
Finally, to the left side of the town's inn, you'll find a treasure chest
concealed by some large canisters. Push them out of the way and open the
treasure chest to get an Ambrosia. These heal you completely, both HP and
status. Do NOT use them until later in the game. They are rare as hell, and
are needed far later in the game for the tough bosses. With that done, we're
done here. Save at the Inn (it's free now, no one is there to say otherwise),
and save at the save parrot. Then, we're off to Port Timney. To get to Port
Timney, leave Saint Centour and go east, and then south from Cage Tower, where
you'll run into another Elw Pyramid. Run north in the pyramid to the warp, and
you'll warp to ANOTHER Elw Pyramid. Leave this pyramid, head south, west, then
north, and you'll be there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XXII. Port Timney
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items to Find: Hardy Apple, 480 Gella, Crest Graph, 2,000 Gella, 30 Gella,
Duplicator, Revive Fruit
Items to Buy: None
Enemies: None
As you enter Port Timney, lets look around to find items we can discover. In
front of the Inn, on the right hand side, next to the ARM re-loader, is a
barrel. Search it to find a Hardy Apple. In a row of barrels behind the inn on
the righthand side is 480 Gella for you to grab. On the southeast side of town
is a small house. Enter into it and you'll find some barrels and a treasure
chest. Inside the treasure chest is a Crest Graph, and inside the barrels are
2,000 Gella. Outside of this house on the right are more barrels. In the
barrel there is 30 Gella.
Now, on the east side of the pub, at the north end, is a large wooden crate.
Blow it up with Rudy's Bombs, and it'll make a hidden path behind the pub free
to go through. Go west behind the pub and you'll come out inside where the
Weapons and Armor dealer is. There's a treasure chest there. Open it to get a
Duplicator. The house in the northwest of town has a barrel in it - inside the
barrel is a Revive Fruit. Okay, now all we need to do is learn a new Fast Draw
technique for Jack and we'll be all set. The technique, by the way, is
Trickster. To get the hint for this technique, go to the north end of town,
towards the west. You'll see two crates along the water. Bomb them both with
Rudy's Bombs, and a man will be in there. He's apparently been trapped. To
thank you, he first pickpockets a man, but the party refuses to take the
money, so he returns it, and then speeds away. Jack is inspired by this,
however, and tell
