flagship project of u-tic.org is the PERFECT WORKS Translation Project - T3xt

The production made of the universe in "Xenogears" flows from the beginning of (human)
history into the outlet of Eternity. The story spans a period of 15,000 years, which are
divided into six large episodes, five of which were summarized toward the conclusion of
"Episode V."
This universe is a megalithic realm of information governed by causality flowing from the
past to the present and into the future - left to right. For example, let's take into
consideration "Episode V." During the game, it would be impossible to "paint" the whole truth
and understand it as well. By listening to the developer’s narration, one may comprehend "the
Entirety of the world;" only then will "Xenogears" become a mirror that reflects the "truth"
to its captive audience.

EPISODE I
============
PERIOD OF THE INTERSTELLAR WAR
15,000 Years ago
Episode I is set against the Earth of 15,000 years ago and it is at this time that mankind has
begun its search for a new home. Eventually, man finds a habitable home amidst the M24 Star
Cluster of Sagittarius and from thereafter, this planet comes to be known as "Neo Jerusalem."
However, even after colonizing this planet, mankind continued to aim for the heart of the
universe and after 5,000 years (10,000 years ago), humanity had conquered most of the Milky
Way. Eventually, The Interstellar War breaks out and afterward gradually intensifies;
Episode I focuses on both the outbreak and intensification of this war. However, while this
is going on, other events take place, such as the development of the Deus System.

THE ORIGINS OF A NEW ERA
10,000 Years ago
Intellectual life forms have begun to increase on the planet where Fei shall live. Also,
Emperor Cain becomes the founder of a new generation of mankind and is venerated as a god.
Abel, the sole survivor of the Eldridge crash, is repulsed by this belief and seeks a new way
of life. At this point in time, the story progresses to Episode II, with Cain continuing to
abide by his mission-the revivification of Deus; Cain never intended to "liberate humanity" as
seen in Episode V.

THE ZEBOIM CIVILIZATION
4,000 Years ago
Episode III takes place at an age where a scientific civilization achieves a level of
technological advancement similar to our own. A majority of these people are rendered unable
to bear children thanks to a genetic deficiency that began to manifest itself as they achieved
the technological zenith. Kim (Abel's first transmigration) attempted to overcome this
obstacle with nanotechnology, but fails thanks to Miang's Plans. Emeralda is also born during
this era and nanotechnology is later revived by Taura, one of the Three Sages of Shevat.

THE SOLARIS CAMPAIGN
500 Years ago
The Ignas continent of about 500 years thence is the backdrop of Episode IV. Emperor Cain
decides that human evolution has reached its final stage and thus founds Solaris. Emperor
Cain makes an attempt at immediate ground-rule, but is met with conflict as the artificial
humans of this era have harnessed the use of Ether. This conflict, or war, breaks out between
the "Land Dwellers" and the "Solarians," and is generally known as the "great war of 500 years
ago." But the war was ended prematurely by "The Day of Collapse."

Present
Fei takes on the role of protagonist in this episode, set in the year 9999, Fei leads his
early life in the peaceful village of Lahan. The Deus Restoration Program is also nearing
completion at present time. Fei was not born in Lahan Village, however. He was, in fact,
carried to Chief Lee's house in Lahan Village, three years ago by a Masked Man. At the time,
Fei was so injured, both mentally and physically, that he lost all memory of his life prior to
that point. After the attack on Lahan Village, though, he is "reawakened" and once again
embarks on the road of fate.

Although not much is known about this episode, it appears as though it is set shortly after
Episode V. Information about Episode VI will remain undisclosed until future notice as it is
the last point on the Xenogears timeline.

From the creation of Deus to the beginning of the game...the history of Xenogears is explained
through a collection of historic facts.
The story of "Xenogears" has a lengthy history, dating back over 10,000 years. Even though
Fei and company's place in this history seems small in the big picture, it would not be an
exaggeration to say that their period is the "base" of the entire story when all its history
is consolidated.
Bear in mind, this chronological fact solely applies to the game itself. The history of the
world itself began 15,000 years ago. Here, after introducing the historical facts pertinent
to the period of Zohar's discovery, the history of the game is explicated in detail.

3rd Millennium - The Beginning

2001 Common Era - Mankind excavates an unknown object
==============================================================================================
An age noted in the annals of history as "The Messiah who appeared at the end."
The words left by an unpopular prophet finally brought Humanity's needless anxiety to an
end, allowing it to charge into the third millennium, after enduring one-thousand years of
apprenticeship.
A certain discovery rocked the modern world-an "Object" with the shape of an eye (though
clearly being of unnatural origins) had been found deep within a bed of sedimentary rock that
was approximately 3.9 billion years old. Eventually, one research institution advanced an
alarming new hypothesis about the "Object," stating that its appearance in Earth's geological
timeline coincided with the earliest known life ever found; the hypothesis suggested this
"Object" may have been the source of all terrestrial life: "artificial" panspermia
(Pan-space embryo).
Shortly thereafter, many romantic theories and interpretations began to form about the
"Object," however, this accomplished very little and soon, all of these foolish notions came
to constitute a simply hopeless mess. The senseless "deduction" swept across both scientific
and academic fields, leaving in its wake vague and ambiguous opinions which joined
with equally impaired suppositions which ultimately served to destroy any grounds for a
concrete argument. All the while, one vital question remained: "what is the 'Object?'"
And before we can even delve into that matter--do we even know if the "Object" is of
artificial fabrication? In fact, the mere circumstances of its discovery remain an enigma;
finding such an "Object" out of sheer fortuity seems nigh impossible. And this enigma is
only deepened as hypotheses awaited evidence while constantly randomly replicating through
random theorization and actually reproducing any of these hypotheses may result in one's
untimely demise. Eventually, through Carbon-dating, the age of the "Object" was determined
to be over 15.0 billion years, confirming that it had been present at the birth of the
universe.
This announcement simply added to the existing volume of confusion and strayed into a whole
new labyrinth of mystery; if the "Object" is assumed not to be created by some artificial
means, then it enters unto the realm of God.
The "Object" was later discovered to possess a considerable amount of a substance which
causes magnetic anomalies and, in addition, the "Object" emits a strong magnetic field of its
own. Considering this, the "Object" was then referred to as 'MAM' (Magnetic Abnormal Matter)
out of convenience. Analysis of the "Object" was carried out on an international scale,
however, the project would meet with funding issues and would ultimately wind up abandoned.
Any remaining analysis of the "Object" would be left to private\voluntary researchers who
would eventually come up with a new name for the "Object."
The name--Zohar.

Panspermia

Panspermia is a theory advanced by the respected Astrophysicist, Fred Hoyle, and basically
makes the argument that life originated in space rather than Earth itself. It was discovered
that tiny micro-organisms live in both comets and spatial dust clouds and if these
micro-organisms could survive the trek and land on a planet, they could, in fact, multiply
and evolve.

Did life originate from Zohar!?
==================================
Planet Earth took form in the vast void of space about 4.5 billion years ago. Back then, the
the planet's temperature was extremely high and the atmosphere was mostly composed of deadly
Carbon Dioxide gas. Eventually, the Carbon Dioxide began to condense in the atmosphere and
form precipitation which gradually cooled the inhospitably hot planet. After this initial
cooling, the first 'sea' was formed and it would become the source for all life. After about
500 million years, approximately 4.0 billion years from the present, Earth saw its first life.
However, this does not go uncontested; some believe that 500 million years after the formation
of Earth is a bit too "early" for life to have existed 'comfortably,' without some sort of
catalyst. All of this basically points to the Panspermic Theory and its notion of
micro-organisms making it over on comets.
These theories would be later clarified, considering that the stratum Zohar was found in
was extant when Earth saw its first life. On a more daring note, Zohar may have been directly
responsible for the creation of Earth's initial population, rather than just "influencing" it.
Although Zohar was briefly touched upon in the game, its true nature was never discussed and
remains unknown. Considering the aforementioned theories, one can safely assume that Zohar
will be the "nucleus" of the Xenogears world, throughout the Xenogears universe.
15,000 years ago

Common Era

2510 The Space Emigration Plan aimed for absolute emigration to the stars within 15 years
and was of international import. This project was managed by the "Executive Committee"
and to adorn their founding, a new calendar was adopted-the T.C. (Transcend Christ)
calendar. Additionally, the standard calendar was renewed, with 365 days totaling one
"standard star year."

0016 16 years after the establishment of the "Executive Committee", people's long-
cherished wish was finally being realized-though it was delayed by about 500 standard
star years-the emigrant fleet was released from Earth's gravity, where it began its
long journey through abysmal space. Thereafter, the Earth came to be known as the
"Forbidden Land," [Lost Jerusalem] and became inaccessible. Though the reasons remain
unclear, sudden environmental changes were not considered to be a factor.
0294 After wandering the stars for approximately 250 years, the emigrant fleet locates a
planet that may be suitable for life in the M24 Star Cluster proximal to the "Archer,"
constellation, Sagittarius. This planet became humanity's new hope and is called
"Neo Jerusalem." Eventually, the emigrant fleet lands on and settles this planet.
0295 The inauguration of the Galaxy Federation Government. "Neo Jerusalem" became the
Galaxy Federation Government's first capital planet. The managerial organization of
the space emigrants, the "Executive Committee," was reorganized and later integrated
into the Galaxy Federation Government and the election of the first chairman began.
From here on, "Neo Jerusalem" would be thought of as an outpost for mankind, as it
slowly continued its exploration of the cosmos.

The Attainment of the Scientific Zenith

From 10,000 years ago...to 15,000 years ago, it has been a period of "scientific" technology.
The planet Neo Jerusalem, a habitable planet that would serve as humanity's frontier base
away from Earth, was considered a place of continuing scientific advancement but this was
devalued as being mere "mental development," which no one truly desired. Finally, a large
cosmic war breaks out with Deus being the product of this war. In space, a plane not at all
governed by the harsh rules of gravitation, humanity continues to make the same old mistakes.

T.C. (Transcend Christ) / New Era

Interstellar War Intensification / Deus goes berserk 7th Millennium

4743 Thanks to the efforts of a group of archeological researchers and some 'others,' an
artifact dating back to the times of Lost Jerusalem is discovered. Known simply as
'MAM' (Magnetic Abnormal Matter), it is found in the cargo room of a derelict spaceship
belonging to the "Pilgrimage Fleet," a group of vessels bearing holy men who traversed
the void of space countless centuries ago.
4744 At approximately 5,000 years on the timeline, analysis the MAM restarts.
4750 From the analysis of the MAM, the "Phenomenon Alteration Theory" is born.
4751 The discovery of the "Phenomenon Alteration Theory" makes the MAM a top-priority
research project and because of this, the main research group supervising MAM research
initiates "Project Zohar."
4752 The Interstellar War intensifies.
4765 Due to an accident of an unknown nature, the planet hosting research on "Project Zohar"
was instantly annihilated, leaving nothing behind but the MAM itself-later discovered
and recovered within the disaster zone.
4766 The supervision system, 'Kadmoni,' is acquired and with it, the "Zohar Response System"
is completed. Kadmoni's main element, "Persona," is built directly into the MAM.
Persona, much like the MAM, remains veiled in mystery-its details and origins being
completely unknown. The interplanetary stratagem weapon, "Deus," created with the
intent of ending the intensifying war, was finally completed during this year after
a lengthy amount of time spent under development. Zohar was adopted as Deus' main
source of power.
4767 March, after Deus had acquired Zohar as its primary engine, a connection experiment
between the two systems was to take place on NGC6744 (Note 1), immigrant planet
Miktam04B (immigration began on geostationary satellites while the main planet was
being terraformed). It is uncertain as to what accident caused both systems to go
berserk during initial connection but whatever it was, it caused Deus to recklessly
drive through one of Miktam04B's peripheral colonies and invade locally. Deus managed
to cause colossal damage within a very short amount of time and the military, feeling
threatened by Deus' superior combat abilities, shutdown the runaway Deus at a great
cost. Afterwards, all of Deus' core components were disassembled and sealed off from
one another. In order to investigate the nature of the accident, the titanic
interstellar warship, "Eldridge," owned by the 'Enterprise,' was requisitioned by the
military. Deus was loaded aboard the Eldridge along with 1.2 million survivors from
both the immigrant planet and various other outlying colonies.

Various warships and buildings that appeared in the game were brought over by the Eldridge
when it crashed. Most of the blocks that comprised the hull of the Eldridge were loaded with
weapons and warships.

Prow Block - BABEL

The Eldridge's hull is composed of several detachable, autonomous navigation blocks. The
Babel Tower, as it appears in the game, is one of these blocks. Additionally, a large HLV
plant was installed in the prow block which would serve as the base upon which Shevat would
be constructed.

Central Block - MAHANON
=========================
The super computer, Raziel, which manages the entire Eldridge, is stored in this block.
This block has, in addition to autonomous navigation, a "soft-landing" feature. Raziel also
held data concerning weapons, Deus, life forms in different star systems, and information
about different stellar civilizations. The Gazel, not wanting this information to be leaked
to the people, constructed a gate to control Mahanon's passage.

Each core component of Deus was dismantled and loaded aboard the Eldridge. -Persona- or
Alpha-1, as it was called by the Eldridge bridge crew in the opening movie, is Kadmoni's main
element whereas Deus' main body was referred to as Omega-1.

Excavated and repaired by Shevat from the wreckage of the Eldridge, Sofia boarded this very
cruiser in the Great War 500 years ago and went on a suicide mission to destroy the Merkabah.

The titanic vessel was a privately owned interstellar ship designed particularly for
long-distance travel, it's not surprising that small-scale nations formed during the trip;
armament was strengthened substantially during the transportation of Deus.

Resistance of Deus / Activation of Self Restoration Program

4767 During mid-flight, all activities were suddenly halted and Deus who was under
transportation suddenly restarted. Deus who was sealed and isolated, was able to
utilize Zohar to hack the Eldridge's central mainframe (artificially intelligent
computer, Raziel). Complete seizure of the Eldridge by Deus was achieved through Deus'
metastasis invasion mode. Spatial transfer mode was initiated and the Eldridge's route
was redirected to "the main planet". Shigeyoshi Inoue a special duty Colonel, who is
the commander of the Technical Research Facilities and also the captain of the
Eldridge, determined that the evacuation and abandonment of the Eldridge was
inevitable. The blasting plug, which was under the control of Deus, cannot be
utilized. The hidden circuits to the Spinal Shaft's uniting bolts were executed
(Note 2). This then caused the Spinal Shaft to separate (Note 3), which was done in a
desperate measure to prevent the Deus from having complete control of the Eldridge. By
losing the Spinal Shaft, the Eldridge's sailing functions were abolished. In addition,
its mass balance was also disrupted. Afterwards, the Eldridge was caught by the gravity
of a nearby planet and began to descend into the planet's atmosphere. The Eldridge's
hull began to decompose by the influence of the gravity. Most blocks were disintegrated
from the frictional heat. The thermal heat caused the emergency execution of the
Self-Contained Navigation functions installed on selected blocks of the Eldridge. Only
blocks with this special feature survived the impact with the planet. Everyone was
evacuated, but the presence of survivors are uncertain. The central hull that stored the
body of Deus sank to the bottom of the sea. Zohar crash landed in a different location
at several kilometers per second. Immediately before that, supervision system Kadmoni
was ejected out of Zohar. Soft landing features carried it to a continental coastline.
0000 -Persona- executes "System HAWWA" from key program "Elehayym". The first intellectual
lifeform is born on this planet. "System HAWWA" produced Cain and the 12 Gazel
Ministers from "Animus", composition materials of "Kadmoni". They became the founders
of mankind. "System HAWWA" differentiated itself into "Elehayym" and "Miang". The

5,000 years after mankind left Mother Earth -- a nation of stars was created -- the Galaxy
Federation Government was formed. The skirmish in the frontier, ethnic conflicts, and the
relatively common plundering done by space pirates done on a daily basis lead to the the
eventual outbreak of an interstellar war, despite the fact that they were brought together by
the central integration organization, the Executive Committee.
Moreover, MAM whose whereabouts were unknown, was discovered within an ancient derelict
spacecraft belonging to religious scholars of the distant past. Whatever this mean is to be
judged by the historian of the current era. However, the analysis of MAM restarts at
approximately 5,000 years in the overall timeline - shortly after its rediscovery. During
analysis, the Phenomenon Alteration Theory, Kadmoni, and Zohar were born, which
eventually lead to the birth of Deus. However, the scientists of that time were not able to
control it completely.

The Planet Deus was aiming for...

In the introduction movie, Deus occupied Raziel and started the Space Displacement Mode,
transferring all coordinate paths of the Eldridge toward the "Main Planet". This main planet
was not the principal planet, Neo Jerusalem of the present time, but in fact, Lost Jerusalem...
In other words, Deus was aiming for Earth.
In the game, it was never clarified as to why Deus switched course for Earth. However Lost
Jerusalem was acknowledged by the people of the present era as the "Sacred Planet". It was in
T.C. 0016 when mankind departed Earth and journeyed into the stars. Earth became a sealed
sector and was thereafter declared the "Forbidden Land". Although it remains unknown as to
why Earth became sealed, sudden planetary and environmental changes are not considered a
contributing factor. One may wonder, "What secret lies concealed" within the Earth.

How the Wave Existence Influenced Deus' Self-Restoration Program

Deus, damaged by the destruction of the Eldridge, began mass-producing humans with the
intent of using them as "spare parts," such that a perfect revival may be attained for the
destined battle. However, the "Will of the Wave Existence" came unto the third dimension,
and was installed at the lower-end of the restoration process.

The purpose of Miang Hawwa's Differentiation
==============================================
Why exactly did Miang Hawwa differentiate into Elehayym and Miang? Though it is difficult to
say precisely why, in essence, the Wave Existence inserted its own programming into Deus'
Restoration program. The "Will of the Wave Existence" was embedded within the "Original
Elehayym," who was created from Abel's initial contact with Zohar; her appearance was
rendered by the central element, -Persona-, of the Bioelectronic computer Kadmoni. Although
Abel and the Wave Existence provided a base for Elehayym (provided an outline, basically), it
was actually Deus who supplied the organic components- essentially, the Original Elehayym
belonged to both Deus and the Wave Existence. This is strongly supported by a quote from the
opening to the game: "Confirming axon replacement." This marks the metamorphosis of Original
Elehayym into Miang Hawwa set off by Deus. When Original Elehayym is in the 'On' state, it
becomes Deus' Miang; when the Original Elehayym is in the 'Off' state, it is the Wave
Existence's "Elehayym."
After creating Cain, founder of humanity, Miang Hawwa split into both Elehayym and Miang;
after that, Abel's "Will for a Mother" was granted by the Wave Existence as a product of this
process. The sole purpose of this differentiation was to provide Abel with a "Mother"
independent of the Original Elehayym so that she could guide the prospective Contact. Had
the Wave Existence not descended from its higher dimension, this differentiation would not
have occurred.

Aeons. In addition, the act of "resetting" a civilization serves as a catalyst for

Factor 2 ~ Anima and Animus

The organic components of the bioelectronic computer Kadmoni are collectively called "Anima".
It is also one of the mandatory factors for Deus' resurrection. After the Eldridge
self-destructed, the Anima were dispersed and their whereabouts are unknown. The Gazel
Ministry were born to search for the locations and whereabouts of the missing Animas. With
the hands of Miang Hawwa, the "Animus" was changed into the form of man, with the creation of
Cain, the first human. The Animus are the organic composition of humans needed to revive Deus
(in other words, humans are manufactured out of the "Animus" substance). For 10,000 years, 13
people, Cain and the Gazel Ministry searched for the Animas - one of the key components of
Deus. In addition, people were mass manufactured and under management to become spare parts
for Deus.

Factor 3 ~ Elehayym and Miang
===============================
-Persona-, main element of bioelectronic computer Kadmoni which manages and controls Zohar, is
another component mandatory for the revival of Deus. In order to execute and carry out the
Resurrection Plan, it transformed Original Elehayym into Miang Hawwa to create the
Gazel Ministry. After differentiating, Miang Hawwa returned to the life support plant of
Kadmoni. Throughout the course of history, Miang played the role of the "Weapon", whereas
Elehayym played the role of the "Mother". Basically under the Deus program, 13 people
including Cain were programmed to manage the "Animus" and to awaken "Elehayym" as the
"Last Miang" on the day of resurrection.

The Resurrection Which Deus Seeks
===================================
Deus is an interplanetary strategem weapon created with the ability to exhibit unrivaled
hostile power. However, it destroyed an allied camp during its initial connection experiment.
The military who received the report made a large sacrifice to forcefully shut down the run
away Deus. After this, Deus was transported to another planet where the cause of the accident
is to be investigated. Midway during transportation, it crashed into the planet which later
becomes the setting for the game. After it crashed, the Resurrection Program commences. During
this time, Deus spent 10,000 years in slumber, awaiting for the day of approaching
resurrection.
To a person, these 10,000 years seems like eternity. But for the weapon Deus, these years are
but a twinkle of a star. But doubt remains. After revival, could hostile civilizations still
exist? Depending on the circumstances, it is assumed that hostile civilizations may have
drastically decreased, or may have died out completely. The restoration function that exists
in the weapon --- is a cost-effective means for repair, during the annihilation of opposing
civilizations. However, the Resurrection Program developed by Deus was not predetermined nor
preprogrammed. Being only a weapon of mass destruction, it is more probable that Deus had
another intention in mind. During transportation, of all the planets under the reign of the
Galaxy Federation Government, it boldly chose the "Mother Planet." With the completion of Deus'
revival, it may "Try to Accomplish" what it started.

unscathed and separated Kadmoni from Zohar. Kadmoni accomplished soft landing and a woman

Deus later resigns itself to a deep slumber at the bottom of the sea, awaiting for the days of

A highly-advanced civilization had already existed four-thousand years ago but...............
The human beings created and supervised by Cain were reaching an era of prosperity, an era
that would scrape the edges of the intellectual zenith. However, the average lifespan of a
person was extremely short (about 30 years), due to a genetic deficiency affecting nearly
every single person at the time and Miang determined that the humans of this era were too
defective to be harvested as parts for Deus. Preparations for global nuclear war began.

6053 Miang awakens as twin sisters (M0611 and M0612).
6055 Kim and Elly are born.
6071 Kim is granted admission to the Federal University and enters the Department of

6074 Kim takes the Biochemistry section of the Faculty Examination for the Department of
Science. Also, nanomachine research begins. Elehayym works as a nurse for the
Federal Bureau of Medical Affairs.
6075 Kim enters graduate school and receives his Masters Degree that same year.
6077 Kim presents his research thesis on "Reconstructing Defective Genes using
Nanomachines," to the board committee. The plan advocates the creation of a
pseudo-life form using nanotechnology but his papers are branded a heresy by the modern
orthodoxy. Kim abandons nanomachine research after the board committee expels him from
the academic institute. Kim re-enters the Department of Medicine and again pursues a
career as a physician.
6078 Miang determines that the humans of this era are "defective" and thus cannot be used as
spare parts for the revival of Deus. During a meeting with the Gazel Ministry, a plan
is formulated for the disposal these "defective" people. The preliminary arrangements
for an all-out, global nuclear war are set into effect when Miang becomes an aide to
the Prime Minister of the sovereign nation of Zeboim.
6079 Kim becomes a doctor at the Federal Bureau of Medical Affairs-later meeting Elly in
that very same place.
6081 Zeboim's central power generation facilities are bombed by the anti-government
terrorist organization, "Ravine;" this act of terrorism causes a 50% loss in power
in the capital city. The Bureau of Medical Affairs is also affected by this power
outage and although the hospital's private emergency power generator is activated, the
girl whom Kim is operating dies. Also during this year, Miang receives Kim's thesis
and Miang, who is interested in advancing human evolution, meets up with Kim at the
Federal Bureau of Medical Affairs. During the course of their conversation, Miang
offers to sponsor a facility at which Kim may continue working on his research. Kim
accepts the offer and again begins research and development on Nanotechnology, outside
of his job as a physician at the Bureau of Medical Affairs. However, the
anti-government terrorist organization, Ravine, also acquires Kim's research thesis
this year. The mere thought of the weapons that could be produced from Kim's research
prompts Ravine to make immediate contact with Kim.

The Coming and Going of a Generation

People of this period were known as the Third-Stage Ahnenerbe and were about to come to an
end as a generation. Many people were unable to leave behind descendants, due to an
increasingly expanding hereditary epidemic of genetic deficiency. In addition to this,
people were leading incredibly short lives (average life expectancy of 30 years) and as
previously stated, many were unable to propagate. Fully aware of these facts, people led
despaired, discordant lives characterized by resentment; many simply felt life was
meaningless.
Based on these circumstances, Miang determined that these humans were "defective" and a
conference with the Gazel Ministry resulted in a decision to "reset humanity," disguising this
as a global nuclear war. People of this age were simply called the "Third-Stage Ahnenerbe"
because humanity had been previously reset twice before. Kim, totally in the dark about
Miang's true intentions, entrusted the future of humanity to his Nanotechnology research.

Utilization of Nanotechnology
===============================
Kim's thesis on Nanotechnology calls for the removal of defective DNA by replacing it with
"corrected" DNA material. With the ability to manipulate DNA at the molecular level, one
could see this technology as the 'ultimate' technology. The scholars of this time considered
Kim's research and thesis as a "blasphemous heresy unto the will of God." It was because
of this that Kim came to be banished from the Academic Institute. Kim later re-enters the
Department of Medicine and works again as a physician. This was only to be the beginning of
Nanotechnology.
In the year 6081, Miang accidentally stumbled upon Kim's research and immediately sees the
benefits to Nanotechnology. Seeing Nanotechnology as prospective tool for the artificial
advancement of the human race, Miang offered Kim a research facility. However Kim had a
totally separate agenda of his own. The anti-government group, Ravine, would later come in
contact with Kim.

The Fall of Zeboim
====================
The Miang of this era would get in close with the Prime Minister of Zeboim and began to
manipulate the world behind the scenes. Gradually, the relationships between the sovereign
nations broke down concluding in an all-out global nuclear war. Fighting the Zeboim military
was Ravine, a militant anti-government organization. Kim later comes to understand Miang's
hidden agenda and the purpose of Ravine's "Individual Fight" against the government.
Unfortunately, Elly dies shortly after this in an attempted invasion of the research
facility by government shock troops. Kim seals up Emeralda in perpetuity as an all-out
nuclear war erupts in the world around them.
People who had not sought shelter perished as a result of the war. After the outbreak of the
war, a large shift of the tectonic plates sent Zeboim to the bottom of the ocean, and has
thus disappeared from the face of the planet.

6082 Despite Kim's continued refusal, Ravine obstinately persuades Kim to join their

and his contacts with Ravine. Realizing his true motives, Miang sends special forces
to seize Kim's research but Elly then sacrifices herself so the main research facility
may remain secure. Afterwards, Kim seals up Emeralda and all the research facilities
in perpetuity, as he disappears. Later in the year, an all-out nuclear war explodes,
destroying more than 90% of the human population with bombings, residual radiation,

At stage in history, it was extremely rare to find people who were able to tap into the
Ether but Adoriel, founder of the Nisan Sect, was able to harness this elusive ability. This
left many around him genuinely baffled and had led them to firmly believe that God had
bestowed Adoriel with this unique gift and after word of his powers spread, believers in his
philosophy increased exponentially. The sect had originally started out as a local doctrine,
taught specifically in the area in which Adoriel lived; a non-universal and isolated
philosophy. However, Adoriel's Ether abilities later ensured that the teachings became
universal. In order for a woman to succeed Adoriel, she must possess above average control
of the Ether. The original Nisan teachings and doctrine would be extensively revised by the
time Sophia would accede to the position of "Nisan Mother."

Nimrod and the Nisan Sect

600 years ago, a throng of small countries sprang up, with Nimrod being one of these budding
nations. While Nimrod was always a fairly small country, at its prime, it consistently
grew in power at a fairly rapid rate such that, by the crowning of its fifth king, Kusel
Raodeka, it grew to be the second most powerful country after Shevat. But Kusel, along with
many other leaders this era, was totally caught up in a quest for power. Meanwhile, Kusel
had taken note of Nisan's sudden popularity and had formulated a plan. Shortly thereafter,
Kusel threw the support of his country behind the Nisan Sect, allowing it to grow and develop
even faster. Eventually, however, members of the Nisan Sect began to realize Kusel's ulterior
motives and rebelled; this discord would set the stage for the Raodeka Dynasty Riot.

Sophia and the Penel Monastery

Elly was born as the middle child to Ashira and at age seven, she was adopted by Bishop Penel.
Despite her age, Elly had marveled many with her incredible ability to manipulate Ether, in
fact, she was so skilled in her use of Ether that even at her young age, she was eligible
for candidacy in the search for Adoriel's successor. It was around this time that Elly
became extremely ill and was sent to the Ashira Monastery (now located at the eastern edge of
Ignas). Her stay at the Ashira Monastery lasted several months and it was during this time
that she would meet Lacan. Five years later, a plot to assassinate both Sophia and Bishop
Penel is carried out (Penel Monastery Attack Incident) by Krelian and although he manages to
assassinate Bishop Penel, he finds himself unable to harm Sophia. After the assassination
attempt, Sophia's whereabouts go unknown for several years.

9493 Lacan leaves the town he temporarily stayed at, thanks to a political uprising
involving Solaris and although he leaves without meeting up with Sophia or performing
his task for her, it appears as though Krelian accomplishes Lacan's task anyway.
9495 After a period of seven years, Sophia's candidacy as "Nisan Mother" is reviewed by the
Sect's high-ranking officers. With her impressive Ether abilities and her devoted past
at the Penel Monastery, Sophia accedes to the position of Nisan Mother at the age of
twenty. With this appointment, the Nisan Cathedral is constructed and a reformation
of the Nisan Doctrines ensues. Jacqueline becomes the advisor to the Nisan Mother and
Nisan establishes, for itself, a defense force in which Krelian enlists under active
duty.
9496 Lacan and Sophia meet at the Ashira Monastery. Meanwhile, an anti-Solarian alliance
begins to form amongst the land-dwelling nations of the world, all centered around
Shevat. The Solaris War breaks out shortly afterward.
9497 A surge of people from many nations flood Nisan in search of refuge from the war.
With the ground forces under his command, Roni also rolls in with the refugees and
because of this, Lacan meets Roni and Rene.
9499 With the influx of refugees, Nisan gradually gains power and control to a point when
the Shevat Elders feel it necessary to hold a meeting with the sect and thus sent
Zephyr, the third imperial lady of Shevat, as an ambassador. With this, Nisan began

existence. At the end of the year, Lacan is nominated to paint Sophia's portrait.
9500 Lacan goes in search of an Anima Container and in the process, learns of Zohar's
existence. Presently, the Gazel Ministry holds four Anima Containers which were
obtained from land-dwelling countries during the war. However, they were later
suppressed by Lacan and the dual alliance. At this point, the Gazel Ministry holds a
top-secret meeting with the Elders of Shevat and secret arrangements are made the
results of which are disastrous; Sophia winds up sacrificing herself at the age of 25,
while Miang winds up a prisoner of Shevat.

In the year 9496, the land-dwellers rebelled against the control of Solaris. Their rebellion
would consist of an alliance of many smaller rebellious nations and efforts centered around
Shevat and several days after the first meeting of the alliance, the Solaris war broke out.
The War would, however, conclude quickly and without decisive victory on either side; instead,
many would be left in agony and despair...truly, it was the tragic aftermath of this "great
war" that would leave people most affected. Shevat, which had been a major proponent of the
war, had betrayed her allies by engaging in a clandestine transaction with the enemy, Solaris.
Shevat, at that time, was governed by several individuals who loosely called themselves the
"Elders of Shevat" and their chief interests were similar to Solaris': subjugation of the
surface-dwellers. However, there existed one hurdle before they achieved their goals and that
was Solaris itself. So, in order to eliminate their competition, Shevat began to actively
promote anti-Solarian alliance comprised of many nations and their own anti-Solarian
initiatives but when faced with the true gravity of the situation, such as Solaris'
uncontrollable, aggrandizing military, Shevat wound up betraying its own allies by requesting
a secret meeting with the Gazel Ministry.

Initially, during the Eldridge incident, both the 7th Generation central mainframe computer,
Raziel (the computer that controlled the Eldridge), and the bioelectronic brain, Kadmoni, were
hacked. In the eyes of the public, the Eldridge was a harmless emigrant vessel, but, in
truth, the ship had been requisitioned to transport a certain weapon system across the stars;
the name of this system being...the Deus System. In order to stop the rampaging Deus System,
the Eldridge was forced to crash; the Eldridge would come to crash upon an uninhabited planet
just ahead of its flight path and from there, a new generation of mankind was born.
Advances would be made in both civilization and science, eventually becoming the background
for the game's world.

Organization of the Strategic Subjugation Weapon "Deus"

The Deus System was created to put an end to a heightening interstellar war and is comprised
of four simpler, independent subsystems, each with its own respective functions and
operations.
The Phenomenon Alteration System, Zohar, is the engine which drives the entire System. Its
operation is dictated by System Operator's actions and intentions. Essentially, it is a
self-sufficient system whose output is determined by the requirements of the person operating
the system.
Next, the organic weapon system, Deus, was designed to utilize the maximum extent of Zohar's
output and although the attack power of its attack units is formidable, the desired 100%
performance throughput can only be achieved through linkage with Zohar.
And, controlling these two systems is the bioelectronic brain, Kadmoni. Kadmoni itself is
composed of two main parts: a logical operation system and an organic unit. These individual
components are integrated into the 8th Generation Supercomputer for selective calculations.
Finally, the gigantic starship, Merkabah, is used to transport these systems. The Merkabah
was actually constructed in such a way that, if threatened, the Aeons (terminal interface
