[Introduction] Welcome to Gundam_X's "Survival FAQ To Final Fantasy V." Though the game has been available for several years now, it is a classic that no one should miss. And with the re-release of the PlayStation version, there is a sudden rush to play the game again. It's quite understandable, and I decided to release a Survival FAQ concerning the game. It has many Tips that'll make your easier journey along the way. E-mail me for submissions or corrections; you'll get credit. Note: I am looking for a team of gamers that would like to start a new gaming group that writes FAQs, X9 GamerZ. If you are interested, please e-mail me. [Tips] Tip #1: Build Your Ability Points Early On ------------------------------------------ It is generally a good idea to build up your Ability Points as soon as you are able to get jobs. When you do this, you'll be able to master your jobs more quickly, as well as be more powerful to foes. Even though you may spend an hour or two doing this, this makes for a very easier path along the way. Tip #2: Fight Every Battle That Occurs -------------------------------------- Fighting every battle that occurs will easily benefit your party. You will gain more experience, and your characters will be more powerful. In fact, if you do not do this, expect to see about 3 hours of your life blown away while gaining level ups for your party so you can get past a boss. Fighting every battle will also fatten your gil wallet, as well as give you more items. However, if you really do not have enough HP, then do not fight until you have used a tent or cottage to heal wounds. Tip #3: Buy Mass Amounts of Vital Items --------------------------------------- Tents, Cottages, Potions, and Ethers. These are the main items that keep your party going in battles. Without them, you'd spend lots of time fleeing a battle and dying as soon as one starts. A good tactic is to utilize -=Tip 4=- and then go to your nearest town to buy at least 30-40 of the items aforementioned. They will help DRAMATICALLY, especially when you get to later dungeons/labyrinths. Tip #4: The Easiest Way To Get All-Around More Powerful ------------------------------------------------------- This Tip will help you along your quest. Go to your nearest town and keep running around the town. After fighting until your HP will get to the nil point, go to a town and use the Inn. Repeat until you are satisfied Tip #5: Master Character Classes One By One ---------------------------------------------------- What I mean by this is, if you can, do not depend too much on your "extra" abilities you've acquired from other character classes. You dominating one (the class you currently are) is probably going to have stronger abilties than ones you've acquired before. For this reason, you should try to master character classes one by one. That way, you will always gain your current abilities stronger. By having abilties from other classes, they will soon wear out in usefulness simply because it will not gain power. Tip #6: Have Variety In Your Party ---------------------------------- Unless you have a VERY specific party plan, do not use all Monks or Time Mages because they seem powerful. Balancing out your party, in the long run, will help you have an easier journey. However, reading Tip #7 will tell you something that contradicts this Tip. Tip #7: On Hard Bosses, Use Unbalanced Parties ---------------------------------------------- Yes, you may have already read Tip #6, but you should read Tip #7 you show the exception. On bosses where they are extremely immune to magic, use all Monks or Knights to take that particular boss out quickly. This is just a quick sample of what Tip #7 means. However, if you can, utitlize Tip #6 more than Tip #7, unless you wanna go out in style. Tip #8: Master Faris As A Monk ------------------------------ Faris simply seems too fit for the Monk character class. His (ahem...her) stats seem pretty well-rounded for a Monk class. Faris is usually my Monk whenever I play. Tip #9: White/Black Mage Combo Simply Rules ------------------------------------------- It's a good idea to have a White/Black Mage Combo for your party. Mastered White Mage w/ Black Magic or vice versa is very cool, since you get the best of both worlds. This is one of the times when it's okay if one class power if more dominating than the other, since you get offensive magic and defensive magic. Tip #10: Save Often ------------------- Alright, this seems really stupid and all, but it is very crucial to save when you can. There could be a boss at the next corner, or you may lose a bunch of HP during a certain battle. Your trusty "Reset" button will help a great deal. Tip #11: Don't Get Too Attached To Having Galuf In Your Party ------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, this may be a major spoiler, but who gives! Galuf DOES die sometime in your quest-mainly, ExDeath will kill him during the middle of the game. However, not to worry-Galuf's grandaughter will replace him during the quest, and she is basically the same character in terms of stats. So, you may want to De-Equip him of REALLY good weapons and armor before he dies. He dies after the boss of The Elderly Tree. Tip #12: Buy Armor, The Right Armor ----------------------------------- Since the game has a complex system of class-changing, make sure you buy the right armor and weapons for your appropriate classes early on. For example, if you're about to enter a dungeon, you should pick which classes in your party will be used. THEN, buy the appropriate armor and weapons for those classes. It's not such a good idea to change classes mid-way through a tough dungeon, unless it's REALLY easy or it's REALLY hard, because your characters might have useless armor and weapons for their new classes. Tip #13: It Doesn't Hurt To Explore Dungeons More ------------------------------------------------- Even though it may seem like a real pain to explore dungeons a lot and fight tons of enemies, it's actually a very good benefit. For example, you will find more treasures and fight more, and overall, make yourself more powerful in terms of stats, gold, and treasure. Trust me, explore, explore, EXPLORE! Tip #14: Re-Visit Places After Major Events ------------------------------------------- Like in any RPG, certain things can occur after major events happen. After a major battle or event, go back and talk to people back in visited towns. They may have something different to say, or new stuff. Check it out. END OF TIPS SECTION! ==================== Don't worry, I will update this section when the next release of the FAQ comes out.
