                                  TIPS
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a few tips from me to you.

EASY GOAL NO. 1:

When starting the game, and you kick off, run back and forward a bit
before doing anything else so that your players can run up. Then, pass
the ball up or down, which ever you choose, then get him to dribble the
ball forward, and when near the penalty box, through ball to the centre.
Your player will be running and will get the ball. Then just shoot with
all your strength and it's bound to be a GOAL!!!!!!!!!

EASY GOAL NO. 2:

Do the same as the above, and when near the penalty box, through ball to
the top and get the player to cross the ball into the penalty box. Press
the shoot button to head the ball into the goal.

HOW TO DO DIFFERENT HEADERS:

There are a few ways to do a header. Here they are:

NO. 1: Presing X will give you a short passing header.

NO. 2: Pressing SQUARE will give you a clearence header. Also used to
give a long header pass.

NO. 3: Pressing CIRCLE will give you a go for goal header.

NO. 4: Getting a player to cross the ball into the penalty box and
getting a person to run and then press CIRCLE, will get you a diving
header.

HOW TO DO A SCIOSSORS KICK:

Get a player to cross the ball into the penalty box, then get the player
that is heading the ball to do a short passing header using X. Then the
player will pass to another one of your players which is to use the
shoot button to header. And since theball is going low, he will do a
sciossors kick. You can also use this method to do a diving header by
running then pressing the shoot button to do it.

NEW! NEW! NEW!

Here's some information given by Spider which is quite useful.

The L1 button is a kind of "special options" button. When you hold it
down, it imparts different properties to your other buttons. heres the
list:

L1+X = One-two pass. The first guy will pass to a person in his general
front, and that person will one touch pass it back to him. Great for
setting up a goal, because the first guy will lbe running in usually.

L1+Circle = This will make your shot a chip, so if you see the golie
coming out of his line, do this shot, and you may just get it over his
head.

L1+Square = Not so sure what it does, but I think what it does is to
cancel out the player finding properties, meaning you will just boot the
ball upfield without passing to a player.

L1+Triangle =also not sure about this..... I think it has the same as
Circle (I.e loses player finding properties.)

L1+ AFTER a pass, will result in the player recieveing the pass, to let
it go between his legs, hopefully setting it up. Great for faking out a
playing coming in for a tackle, you might earn a penalty.
The shoot button bar, has some really ineteresting effects, musta taken
Konami ages to do this. Of course, the power decides the height and
power of the shot. Usually full power close to the goal will totally sky
the ball, and make you look silly, but full power around near halfway in
between halfway and the goal, will result in a high power shot. Also
left footedness and right footedness wil also affect it. Players who are
are more to one side of the halfway circle will shoot with that foot. So
a right footer, if he is left of the circle will shoot with his left,
therefore a less powerful shoot will occur, with greater chance of
screwing up. Also where you are in your step will affect the shot and
how quickly it comes out. If the ball has just bee dribbled and is not
near your feet, (especially after running) it will result in a more
powerful shot, with more tendancy to screw up, and take more time to
shoot, as the guy actually winds up for the shot. On the other hand, if
you shoot just as the ball is being reciever by your feet, it will
result in more chance of skying the ball, takes a quicker shot, and a
somewhat less powerful shot. Also back to the which foot thing, players
shooting on their foot side, (left foot, on left side) also have a
tendancy to shoot more accurately on goal, sometimes without needing to
hold a direction towards the goal. As you know, the height of the ball
from a cross/lob pass decideds what the guy is gonna do. Well, here is a
tip, the ball path leaves a cross on the ground, where its gonna be. You
can control the guy while he is waiting for the cross, so just position
him a bit back from the cross, or on the cross. If you are quite far
away, the shot will be a sliding tackle sort of shot. A bit closer, this
turns into a straight volley/or sometimes a diving header. A bit closer
and you have a bycycle kick, a bit closer, and its a normal header. A
bit closer still, and the shot turns into a overhead kick. any closer
and you will miss the ball completely. The button press works like this
also, holding a button down will make that player do what that buttons
says infinetely. Basically, press the X button and hold it, and the guy
will tail the ball holder until he gets the ball, or players switch
cause he went out of his zone. couple that with dash, and the player
will also aattempt to hold the guy back, with his arms like in real
soccer, although this can draw a foul sometimes. holding shoot when
waiting for a cross, will force the player to stay in the cross for a
header, even if you try to get him away he will still try to get back
there, so you dont have to worry about buttong mashing to win the ball.
If you get a loose ball around the penalty area, just keep holding the
shoot button eventually someone will pick it up and shoot. You can also
control the direction of the shot with just a tap of the direction
before you shoot. If you hold it down it will tend to go too much in
that direction.

NEW! NEW! NEW!
--------------

Here's some more information from Spider.

First one, a guy will shoot much better (accurately, and powerfully) if
he is in clear space. If he is surrounded by defenders, or is crowded
in, the shot will be much poorer
Second, the X pass is usually a much better choice than the Triangle
pass. If the other player is in a good position, the X pass will
sometimes turn into a Triangle pass, but it will that much more
accurate. I suggest only using Triangle pass to pass to a guy running up
the wing, so he doesnt have to stop, and can charge ahead to make a
cross.
I dont suggest using long pass at all for passing. This type of pass is
direction relevant, I have many times, gone to clear it, only to boot it
out into the crowd. Use Square instead. Only use this button for
crosses, and if you have time and you just want to punt the ball upfield
(Once you got the direction right) and make a long ball play. It also
have the properties of shoot, with a bar, so all the info on the shoot
button (Time it takes to shoot, footedness) works here too, but the pass
will be fairly accurate all the time, although sometimes it's stupid and
only high passes it to the guy in front of you. You can use this to
switch sides of the field, if the one side is too crowded.
Use the select button to change your intensity of play. There is a
little bar, stating name and number of the holder of the ball (and age
!?), as well as the defender who is currently being used to defend.
Above that, there is a blue three section bar, the one furthest TOWARD
the opposing teams goal, is for maximum offence. Press select until you
get to the desired bar. All your players will go upfield, and stay in
the opponents general area. I dont need to explain the rest. Use this,
after you have scored a goal, switch to total defence. When your team
wins the back by overwhelming the striker with numbers, switch to total
offence, and muck around a bit until players get upfield, then go for
goal.
Although I cant read japanese, most things are pretty easy to understand
(Thanx Konami !) and one thing you should do, is check your starting
eleven. (Winning eleven remember ?) That is, check your players at the
start. The icons represent the "readiness" of the players. In general,
totally blue, is bad, and totally red, is good. (I mean, the faces are
smiling and stuff, and sad, so its not too hard to figure out...) I
recommend posting up one good striker, the other one (if any) doesnt
have to be too hot. Have the best mids you can get, they control the
game basically, being the link from defender to strikers. Have basic
defenders but put the best ones in the middle part. (If you have a
sweeper, make the best one him.) of course, post the best goalie you
can.
Next comes formation.
Mix your formation with your strategy, and team strenghts. If you are a
strong offense team, go for an offensive formation with multiple
strikers, and least amount of defenders, (perhaps 1-4-5) but make your
strategy total defense. Vice versa with defensive teams. If you are an
all rounder, formations like 4-4-2, 3-4-3, 4-3-4 etc, are good.
Formation also includes more subtle differences, like one side going
more up, the middle going a bit more down field etc. Use this to your
advantage, if you know your players strengths. Are the majority of your
players right footed ? Perhaps a right side up formation would be good.
Is you strength in your midfields ? Perhaps get your mids to push up a
bit, and join the strikers in offence. This info might be a bit deep for
the casual player, but try taking on some of the teams on very hard, and
you will know how much the computer makes you run around, trying to tag
their passes, and frustrate you. Even the worst teams can shine with a
good skipper at the helm.
More in game tips, one that is obvious, but I dont actually see a lot of
people employ is:
DONT ALWAYS RUN !!!
Funny enough, most people think that charging down the field is the
quickest way to get upfield. Wrong. Best way is by passing. So, wander
around casually, and find openings. You will be surprised how fast an
offensive play can be if the players are in good positions. Bang, bang,
bang, bang, goal. Simple, and devasting. In other words utilize one
touch passes, work those 1-2's, thru pass to those open running players.
The more you start to pass around and find openings, the more likely
goals will start happening. You will also have more success "X" tackling
while walking than running. Also, you have a tendancy to get "muscled"
off the ball, when you are running, running you cant change direction
quickly etc. Run when you can, but dont over abuse it.
Another one people dont employ a lot it seems:
USE THE RADAR.
Its there for apurpose, your guys are blue, theirs are red. See where
your guys are, see if you can make a through pass. See if you have
space. Tell what the other guys not on screen are doing etc.
