Glitching?

I was just wondering because it happens a lot. Is there any way to prevent the game from freezing during battles or is it just flaws in the game?

Info Needed

Either your cd is in extremely shoddy condition, or you're using a ROM of some sort. The latter can be fixed the former however cannot. So which are you using?

Are you using a ps3? if you are i sure hope you aren't very far in because you are going to have to start over and play it on a ps2 if you have one. This happened to me and it just keeps happening and there was no way to stop it. Sorry man. The ps3 just has trouble with it. Probably because it is a ps1 game.

Answer

Do you mean actually locking up, or just temporarily holding frames?

The game itself naturally slows down during some battle animations-- i.e. holds a frame on screen for a half second or so.

But if you mean actually locking up and refusing to play, then it's either a bad ROM dump, a problem with your GPU settings/plugins, or your disc is damaged.

Regarding the second case on an emulator, the same thing happened to a friend of mine 'til he switched over to my ePSXe settings, then it ran fine.

I have a ps game that did that, I had to play it in epsxe. The computer's cd-rom drive's stronger than a psx/ps2 cd or dvd-rom drive.

Answer

Most PS1 games don't play especially well on a PS2 or PS3, use an emulator, I'd suggest using either pSX or ePSXe. You'll need to download bios, but if you actually own a PS1 they're legal.
