Asked on: 12/30 9:14AMThe box can be found in the room where is two hunters and a wallbomb. When you examine the box carlos will say something like " the lock is too comblicated for me".
You can't open it yourself, and you wouldn't want to, it contains a bomb. Upon entering the hospital, if you go down to the basement before going to the third floor, a cutscene will show in which a wounded Umbrella merc explains that Nicolai is a traitor, he then opens the safe thinking there is something inside and a bomb explodes killing him.

statusNah, CAPCOM just put that in there to mess with your head.
The box is a bomb and Capcom probably put it there to make the player think they would have to come back to the hospital.
But answering you question it isn't possible to open the little box.
