"Playstation wasn't built for shooters, but this one is an exception...kind-of"

Playing N64's first person shooter games are unbelievable. Probably the only reason why to buy an N64. Playstation's first person shooters were horrible though until a game named Medal of Honor came out. I played this game, it was good, but it's never as good as N64's first person shooters like the classic Goldeneye 007, and the king of all the first person shooters, Perfect Dark. I honestly hoped that I played this game before I played Perfect Dark because Medal of Honor is honestly an old game (it came out way before Perfect Dark), but I didn't, and when I played Medal of Honor, I was pleased, but not as pleased as Perfect Dark. Oh well, this is as close as Playstation gets to a good first person shooter game.

Visuals: 6/TeN- Probably the super downside of this acceptable game. The graphics in this game don't look like a Playstation game. The buildings look ugly, and the people look like blocks. Even worse is playing this game in multiplayer (it shouldn't even be called that; it's that bad) because you can barely see your characters up close when you play your opponents. So most of the time you're going to be looking, instead of shooting. If only the graphics were a little bit better, I would have had much more fun. The movies aren't that bad also.

Sounds: 10/TeN- Probably the super upside of this game. The audio in this game is wonderful. I love the sound of your gun reloading and shooting. The music makes you feel proud to be an American (corny), and the people's voices and footsteps indicate you that there are some enemies nearby. The sounds were probably the only thing I really loved about this game. If the graphics and the gameplay were a little bit better, I would have gave this game a higher score.

Gameplay: 8.5/TeN- You are assigned to missions. Each mission has a certain number of stages. Most of the assignments are to find stuff, act undercover, escape, and kill people. The missions get harder, of course, as you play on. The thing I liked about this game are the stealh missions. Unlike the Syphon Filter series where if you get caught, you lose and start over, in Medal of Honor, if you get caught, they will try to kill you and will try to alert everyone else, but you can rebound and kill everyone and continue on undercover. I loved this idea because it wasn't hard and frustrating if you mess up. The thing I didn't like about this game is that some are the stages are extremely long, and if you die, you have to start all over. If only it had a checkpoint or something like the Syphon Filter series. Anyways, there are codes, but you have to earn them by receiving an excellent (3 star) rating in all the stages of your mission. There are an acceptable amount of weapons, and each class of weapons (autos, semiautos, etc.) use the same kind of ammo. I like that idea. The multiplayer is okay, but never as good as the N64 first person shooter games. Overall, I was very pleased at the gameplay of this game.

Control: 9/TeN- The only problem I had about control are those rifles and semiautos. The firing rate is so slow that when I mash on the buttons, the bullet shoots once every second, it was so slow. But I had no problem with the autos. I love the automatics.

Replay: 5/TeN- The missions take a pretty long time to beat, but after that, it's over. But if you really want to ''beat'' the game, you can get all excellent ratings in all your stages to get the medals. The multiplayer is all right, but not enough replay as the N64 first person shooters. The replay isn't that great for a first person shooter game.

If you really really love first person shooters and war games, then I would suggest you buy this game. Other than that, I would rent this game. You can easily beat the game in your renting period, and the multiplayer won't really bring you back from renting it again. If you want a first person shooter, buy an N64 and get Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, probably the best first person shooters of all time. I think Playstation should stop making first person shooters and let N64 do that job (I can't wait until the Perfect Dark sequel..hehe it will be a long time). Instead, Playstation should make the games that they are the best in making, RpG's. Playstation is the King of RpG's. Enough Said.
