A Collection of Activision Classic Games for the Atari 2600

Review by Dark Horse

"Ugh....why bother?"

Hmmm…lets take 30 old Atari games and put them all on one Playstation game, good idea? No. Sure these games were fun once, but that was a long, long…long time ago. Well at least it gives you thirty games to bore yourself with. Some of these games can be fun for a few minutes until they get tedious and boring. These games are: Atlantis, Barnstorming, Boxing, Chopper Command, Cosmic Commuter, Crackpots, Dolphin, Dragster, Enduro, Fishing Derby, Freeway, Frostbite, Grand Prix, Hero, Ice Hockey, KABOOM!, Keystone Kapers, Laser Blast, Megamania, Pitfall!, Plaque Attack (ugh…), River Raid, River Raid 2, Sea Quest, Skiing, Sky Jinks, Spider Fighter, Stamped, Star Master, and Tennis. I can’t believe I enjoyed these a few years ago.

Gameplay – 2/10

Well, thirty games and none of them have much gameplay. You’ll enjoy, I guess, mashing the buttons trying to drive a dragster, ski, and blow stuff up. I did enjoy that cowboy roping game, the rafting one (River Raid I assume) and that dragster one was interesting. It seemed every time for some odd reason the car blew up. It got very annoying and tedious for awhile, as did all the old games. Hey kids, brain aneurysms are fun..

Story – 1/10

Uh…..? Where? Shoot some missiles at odd-looking spacecrafts and blow up a dragster.
Wheee…

Graphics/Sound – 2/10

Bleep bleep bleep. No that’s not me cussing at the frustration of these now boring games, it’s the usual sound of these old games. Just like it was for the old Atari itself. The graphics are nearly as bad as they were back in the days of that old Atari system. Oh, wait they are the old graphics from Atari. I’ve never thought that graphics were the main part of a game, but they sure don’t make these any more fun to play.

Replayability – 4/10 (hey it is thirty games after all)

You’ll play this about thirty times, one for each game, then you’ll wonder why you wasted your money on this. Besides if you actually did like some of these games you could always go by a real Atari and the game(s). It always seems more fun to play it on the original system anyway, especially when the graphics and sound haven’t changed a bit. Maybe I can sell it on eBay and get some of my money back.

Last Words

Thirty old Atari games on the Playstation exactly the same way they were back then. I’d rather just use the originals. I got about 10 minutes of fun out of this so it wasn’t a total loss. Save your money and don’t get this.
After playing this I’m starting to think a Jerry Springer Action/Fighting game might not be a bad idea after all…
