Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure
Review by AlfredoAVA
"Best Game I Have Ever Played! Definitley a Splendid Title!"
Now I understand not alot of people are in the same opinion as I am, but ultimately it depends on the player's taste in games. For me, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (A.K.A. Adventure Of The Puppet Princess) is by far the best game I have ever played! The characters, the story, the music, and pretty much the entire game touched my heart with it's wide variety of romantic, and mostly adorable situations!
The Story
Both the story and the overall mood of the game immediatelly captured my heart. It tells of a tale of a young girl named Cornet who has the ability to communicate with stuffed plush toys. She later falls in love with the Prince of the kingdom, and through the help of her puppet pals, she takes initiative in approaching him. Adorable Plushies, Maximum Cuteness and Lovey Dovey stuff... my dream come true! (Also, the fact that the end made me cry is a nice hilight)
The Graphics
The graphics also caught my eye with beautifully detailed, hand-drawn backgrounds. The environments are very tranquil, relaxing and colorful, and also suit the game very well. After looking at all of the backgrounds thrown into the game, you can tell that they took time, and alot of work! But they were WELL payed off, for it created a very calm atmosphere, well suited for Rhapsody's mood.
The Gameplay
The Gameplay was really enjoyable. Afterall, who wouldn't want to interact with such a cute story? -giggles- The battle system was very simple, and not complex which makes for easy understanding. The fighting itself is more comical then violent, which I personally like since I'm not the violent type. Cornet's Special attacks (Which you earn by playing music for your Plushy friends) Include the Flan and Pancake attack, which other then making me a bit hungry, also made me giggle a bit ^.^
The Music
I REALLY enjoyed the music of Rhapsody, it was well-lived up to the game's title. In fact, the game is Dual-Disc and includes the Sound Track. Rather then fast-paced action packing rock music, Rhapsody's sound team composed a vivid symphony of orchestral tunes for the game. The game also qualifies as a musical as the characters come to life with spoken vocals as they sing memorable songs from time to time. This would really lighten up the players' hearts, especially the song that makes me cry everytime I hear it called "Thank You."
I must say that it is ultimately up to the player's taste in games to determine whether or not he/she would enjoy the adorable, romantic story of Rhapsody, but for someone like me, it will ALWAYS be my favorite game! I understand these types of games aren't that popular, but even if you don't like the cute, romantic type games, try to take a break from your machine guns for a while ^^ The scene where Cornet dances with the Prince, The part where Cornet and Kururu sing together, The part where Cornet confesses her love... Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is definitley captured my heart and took me away from the reality of this chaotic world... And I really hope others enjoy it as much as I have.
