"A good 2-d fighter for Inuyasha fans."

Intro:

I remember back on December 23, 2003 I got this game as a birthday present and it's all I wanted back at the time. Back then I was more obsessed with Inuyasha than I am now, but I still find this game really entertaining and enjoyable and still consider the show to be my favorite anime. It was one of the last games to come out for the original playstation and you think it would be better than fighting games before it, but it's not. But that doesn't mean it's a bad game. If you're an Inuyasha fan, then you're gonna have fun with this. Others should just steer clear.

Graphics:

The graphics are looking really good. The characters are very recognizable and the stages are very well detailed. It's easy to tell Kagome apart from Sango and the rest of the characters. The graphics resemble SNES graphics, but that's not a bad thing. The background does move a bit here and there to give it some life. Such as the clouds in the sky or water coming down form a waterfall. The animation is also fairly well done. The attacks are faithful to the show and look amazing.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is a little too simple for a fighting game for this day and age, but it does a good job of keeping itself entertaining. There is a single player story mode that has you searching for the sacred jewels, a mode for one-on-one or tag-team fighting, a mini-game mode, and a bunch of unlockables. You can unlock pictures, music, and you can also change their costume's color. A really cool thing is when you perform your finishing move, it shows a picture of your character doing it. Most of the moves you see in the show are all present, such as Inuyasha's Iron Reaver Soul Stealer or Miroku's Wind Tunnel. A down side with the gameplay is the lack of moves for each character. They each have about 4 to 5 moves plus their finishers. They could have added more, though. There's also a training mode to teach you the moves but it's not really necessary since the manuel tells you everything and it takes only just a few minutes to memorize their moves. Another down side is that everything can be unlocked in a day.

Sound:

The sound affects are spot on and very accurate. The music fits the game very well and gives off a good atmosphere. The voices are their original Japanese voices, but it does have English words on the bottom so you know what they're saying. Overall the sounds and music are very well done.

Conclusion:

It will take just a few hours to unlock all the characters, pictures, mini-games, and everything else. But this game will keep you entertained for a few days. Especially if you're a big fan of the show. It's not the best fighting game but it's still good. For people looking for a good fighting game might want to look elsewhere, but for people that just want a game based off of the TV show then they might be happy with this one. The fighting could have been better but it doesn't kill the fun. Hardcore fans will be pleased.
