Um Jammer Lammy
Review by JPeeples
"An excellent sequel to Parappa."
UmJammer Lammy was released in 1998 for the Sony Playstation. It is the sequel to the surpise-hit PaRappa the Rappa which was released in 1997. The main objective of both games is to match you opponent's musical stylings with your guitar (in this game) or your rapping prowess (in PaRappa.)
Graphics-10/10- The cardboard cutout look is back and it looks great, everything in the game has a sharp, defined look to it and is a joy to look at.
Sound-10/10- The sound is great, just like PaRappa, every song is memorable in some was and very catchy. The music is hilarious as well, however some of the songs are a little annoying (the level 3 song comes to mind.) Overall, the sound is great, the music is some of the best ever in a game, words don't do it justice.
Gameplay-9/10- It's basically you and your opponent going at it in a music contest, you are graded based on how well your controller commands match up with the song's tempo. The grades ar:e Cool, Good, Bad, and Awful, your main goal, obviously is to get a Cool grade, a Good grade is needed to progress through the game. There is also a 2-player mode, it's the same thing as the 1-player game, only it's you against your friend to see who can get the better grade.
Control-10/10- The control is great, it's very responsive, thankfully it's never sluggish (sluggish control would kill any game like this.)
Replay Value-8/10- Even though this game can be beaten in an hour, but the replay value is still great, this game is so fun to play, I doubt you'll ever get bored with it, if you do, you can always try to master the game.
Overall-9/10- This game combines great graphics, wonderful sound, perfect control to make a game that's so addicting, I doubt you'll ever be able to put it down.
