SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge
Review by wolverinefan
"The start of the average Sponegbob games"
Story
It's Patrick's birthday and Spongebob wants to give him a signed photo of Mermaid Man and Barnicle Boy but the two retired super heroes want Spongebob to do a bunch of stuff just to get the picture signed. It's not the best story ever but it seems like it could be taken from an episode of the show. I give story a 7/10
Control
The control is very easy to learn. It never takes more than a few minutes to learn the control for a new weapon. The only problem I had was using the reef blower to suck up stars, I kept forgeting you had to stand still for it to start sucking them up. I give control a 10/10
Voice Acting, Sound Effects and Music
Most of the voices are from the show but a few aren't the same. The sound effects are kinda generic but some are right from the show, like the boots that squeek. The music is pretty good and fits the mood of the game but the theme song isn't in the game. I give voice acting, sound effects and music a 7/10
Game play
It's a 2D platformer and we don't see a lot of these any more. There are 20 levels and 5 secret ones. The main goal of each stage is to find the item the super heroes want and get to the exit. The item is always right at the exit. Your basic attack is a butt bounce but it had be hard to aim sometimes. You also get other weapons like a reef blowers, jellyfishing net, jellyfish launcher and a couple more. The game is pretty easy but there is a second goal on each stage, which has you getting all 100 spatulas and get to the exit but the thing is if you get hit ALL of them fly out from you, so you need to beat the stage without falling down a hole or getting hit. Doing that will open up bonus stages were you collect little flower things which you use to buy gifts. I don't know what the gifts do but it probably has something to do with the ending. I wasn't able to open all the secrets levels cause some of these levels are hard to get through without getting hit. I give game play a 7/10
Replay Value
Once you beat the game, you can try and unlock the bonus stages but it's pretty hard to do. The game takes a hour or two to beat which isn't very long. I give replay value a 2/10
Final Score
I give Spongebob Squarepants: Super Sponge a 6/10
