Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
Review by wolverinefan
"Below average survival horor game"
Story
Carnby and Aline go to this dark and scary island on a dark and stormy night. Carnby is going because his friend died and asked him to come or something like that. Aline is going cause the guy that died is related to her or wanted her to look at something, I can't remember which. There are some plot twists and ghosts and what not and it's all predictable. The story is boring and never made me want to play. I give story a 2/10
Control
The control is easy to learn but you can't move and shoot! Moving around and shooting is easy enough and there isn't any problems except you can't walk/run and shoot at the same time. I give control a 9/10
Voice Acting, Sound Effects and Music
The voice acting is horrible and is some of the worst I have ever heard. The sound effects are good but they don't come till after the thing that causes the sound to happen. Like there is a gun shot and you see it explode in the air and after the thing in the air is gone THEN you hear the sound. The music is good and makes the game kind of freaky. I give voice acting, sound effects and music a 6/10
Game play
Walk around killing things and solving puzzles. The puzzles are easy once you find all the pieces that are in easy to reach place but are way too hard to pick up. Some puzzles are almost impossible like when you're in the attic as Carnby, Aline talks on the walky-talky and say there is a hollow place on the floor and a trap door is there but I couldn't find the trap door anywhere. The monsters are easy and they came back after killing them, the most annoying is the crocodiles in the sewer they keep appearing after you kill them and if you're near a door and get hit you appear in the middle of the room. The only good thing about the game play is the flashlight but it isn't perfect, the shadows aren't always correct and the flashlight turns off whenever a cut-scenes starts and sometimes you might forget to turn it back on because I still think it's on. I give game play a 6/10
Replay Value
There are two characters to play as but they are both boring. The game is average length for a survival horror game. There aren't any secrets. I give replay value a 4/10
Final Score
I give Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare a 4/10
