Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
Review by Thawk
"This is not just one of the best games on psx, but one of the best ones...ever."
When I first got wind of Tony hawk on a Pizza Hut demo disc, I only just knew that Tony hawk was a boarder, and not much else. After playing through the first game, I loved skateboarding so much, I got my own board, and whenever it's on TV, I watch. Now, after getting THPS2, I thought, would this be better? The answer is, without a doubt, YES!
Graphics-Neversoft has developed a reputation for having one of the best graphics engine for the psx, and this game proves it. Very smooth, and the character models are some of the best ever. Lighting effects are put into it, and, of course, there are a few jaggies, but you can expect that from psx.
score-9.8/10
Gameplay-Tony Hawk 2 takes a mild change from the original, luckilly for the better. Instead of tapes, there are objectives to get through the levels. With all of these, it makes for a very fun and challenging game. Plus, there is an immense create a park mode, so you can put all the crap you want into the skatepark of your dreams. And, the great multi-player has something for everyone, so you are a winner in at least one event.
Score:10/10!
Control-Control was a bit of a downside. Great controls, actually, but sometimes if I was doing a trick, and I would hit a wall, fall down and land perfect, but the trick would be lost if I hit the wall. Other than that, great.
Score:9/10
Sound-Sound is good and clear, with great music trackks by dudes like, ''Papa Roach'' and ''Rage Against the Machine''. Very good selection of tracks as well.
Score:9.2/10
Lasting appeal-with all of the objectives, skaters to do them with, the immense create a park mode, the multi-player, tourneys, and the, Hmmmmm...should I say, secrets?
No, I won't say any.
