Alundra 2

"There once was a game called Zelda..."

and playing alundra 2 made you feel like an elder,
you perservered all you could,
to find anything good,
and so decided to change ya name to esmerelda!

OK, bad last line, and maybe i'm being a bit harsh, but Alundra 2 doesn't even come close to the first Alundra. How does this happen? It's not often a sequel is a lot worse than its prequel. That's a bit thing... anyway onto the review...

Graphics: 4

Yeah so 3D is used. It's not used very well is it? If you wanna see a psx game that uses 3D properly, play MGS or even Ape Escape. They're both proper 3D games. i would say this is inbetween 3d and 2d.
Oh sure, you can rotate the screen, but there's only 8 different views. The character design is pretty ugly too. They don't look very realistic at all, and half the time you don't even know what they're supposed to be... these graphics quite simply suck.
Lastly, the view you do use is pathetic because you can see maybe about 3 metres in front of you. anything past that and you better forget about it.

Gameplay: 3

This is a very linear game. You have hardly any decision in what to do next, you just have to follow the plot-line...
Controls are easy, in fact they're TOO easy. You sometimes feel like you have barely any control over your character. Mainly because you don't.
Battles in the game are pretty poor too. Again, incredibly basic. One button too attack with your weapon, one to jump, and you also move about. Hardly revolutionary in this day and age.

Sound: 2

It just gets worse doesn't it? The music is pretty sickly in this game. Can you spell vomit? You certainly will after listening to this.
The speech is also terribly strange too. There's speech one minute, then none the next. It gets irritating after a while...

Lifespan: 2

You probably won't get too far before realising you too have a lifespan, which should definitely be used on something better than this. this is embarrassing. This game's sick. Why release this? There's no playability, and so you won't want to play this. I suppose the fact that sometimes you haven't got a clue what is going on means you won't know what to do, which in turn means you can't progress! Yeah, this game's hard so it'll take me ages to get through it!!!... ahem. This isn't a good thing, trust me.

Overall:

This doesn't compare to alundra at all. I don't think it even compares to... rugrats the game. It really is that bad. I sometimes wonder why people make these games if they're gonna be this bad... did the programmers REALLY think this had potential? if so, why? It didn't. It just didn't. This game should be a lesson to all action adventure makers out there, and how NOT to make a total cock-up of your game. Please don't ever do this again, ok?

Buy or rent?

Neither... hey you! behind your mate there! don't even THINK of buying this game! if you do, you'll never want to show ya face in public... really...
