Destruction Derby

"Once The Smashing Ends So Does The Fun!!!!!"
INTRO
I bought this game from the Playstation Store on the PS3 so I have a very open mind about it now that I have seen the graphics of today. With that being said let's begin.
STORY: 0/10
Not even a single element of a story in the entire game. You can go into career mode but you basically just see your first name next to winner if you actually do finish the race in 1st, which in this game is a big accomplishment to actually do with not even an ounce of reward.
CONTROLS: 6/10
Now one thing this game does have would be not so bad controls, turning is smooth and rather easy to do when your not surrounded by cars on all sides, and it's pretty much the same as every other racing game of it's time as far as complexity, and by that I mean it's very simple and straight to the point, no hidden combinations to be discovered here.
GAMEPLAY: 6/10
Here is where things get interesting. There's a few game modes but their all garbage except the actual arena. Single Race blows because when ever your in first the computer players remember as long as you lose they win, so they smash the hell out of you from behind till your car breaks down. Arena Mode, this is where things start to get fun it's just you in an arena with a crap load of other cars and it's every man for himself (sounds fun huh), well if you said yes your half right. You see the winner is determined on a point system so if your the last car running it doesn't matter you could still lose. Now as to how to gain points you have to go speeding around the arena keeping a sharp eye out for the ends of vehicles (front end, back end) and when one comes into sight nail it hard and hope it makes them spin, if it does you get points. Pretty simple huh? Wrong!!!!! Your forgetting the other 30+ cars also zipping around the arena completely destroying each other, as stated before your car runs on a damage system once a certain area of the car goes black on the gauge it's game over.
SOUND: 4/10
Considering the speed at which these cars would collide at a simple thump based sound didn't do it for me, and the really bad thing is, that it's always the same damn sound when you hit someone no variety at all.
ADVICE: Only get this game if you just want something to screw around with once every 3 years, when you honestly needed something to do for bout 20 mins or so.
