Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

"Harry Potter will enjoy this year!"

This is my review for Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets on Playstation 1. This game was made many years ago but it still shines as a classic.

The Review:

Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay in this is magnificent. There are many different things that you can do and almost all areas have you doing something else. There is something unique to almost every area in the game. The controls are very simple and easy to grasp, for example jumping is simple because you just need to push the stick over to the way you want to jump if on a ledge. There are many mini-games which have different rewards and are very entertaining.

The game has two main ways to fight. There is the simple shoot and kill style of the first game that is still the main way to fight and there is a very entertaining new system called “Duelling”, duelling is when you face off against another person and use special spells as well as flipendo to beat them. It is immensely fun and there are even duelling championships.

Graphics: 8.5/10
The graphics are varied in this game, there are carbon copies from the first game but there are many new textures too. The characters faces do not look right but the outfits are done well. The outdoor areas are amazingly good for a PS! There is a secret area when you are on top of the castle at sunset, one of the best moments in the game.

Most of the graphics give you the real impression that you are at Hogwarts and it is a good feeling to have. The hidden passages are done well and the creatures look great.

Sound: 10/10
The sound is very good, the music is perfectly suited to wherever you are and is amazingly well done while the other sounds all seem to be done and made correctly as well. The footsteps are perfectly timed and as I said before the music is one of the best parts of the game!

Challenge: 9/10
The games challenge does not lie in the storyline which is simple enough to complete, it lies with the mini-games, getting all the Wizard Cards, Beating the House Champions and all the other mini-games. The main story gives you enough challenge to stay interested while still easy enough to just have fun with the game.

Story: 10/10
The story is much better done than the first games because it keeps things the way they were rather than mix it all up and place things in the wrong places. They managed to keep it entertaining and interesting while staying true to the story. Well done!

Overall: 10/10
This game may have some minor problems but overall it is a fantastic entertainment experience and if you can still find a copy then buy it, you wont regret it!
