Street Fighter EX2 Plus
Review by acid2008
"Good, but not the best of the series."
Street Fighter is one of the best fighting games that you would want to add in your collection. As a hardcore fan of the Street Fighter series I am happy when they announced the date of release for this game. However, as I played to the end I was a bit disappointed.
Graphics: 9/10
Nice, smooth polygon characters with an outstanding background for each stage. The graphics are even better as it's an upgrade of the arcade version of Street Fighter EX 2. You will never believe it until you see it for yourself.
Sound: 9/10
As expected from a very well established developers. You get a very nice sound effect and the voices are on par. Fighting with your friends or the AI with a beautiful background music will keep you going and forget about your dinner. Thumbs up!
Replay value: 8/10
You get to unlock new characters and to be able to use unlimited super gauges for a limited time when the credit rolls really excites me. Since it has a large number of characters, you definitely want to use each and everyone of them towards the final fight with M. Bison or Kairi (depending on the character that you use). Overall, you will not be bored to play it again and again just to master your skills.
Gameplay: 5/10
As a fighter, I always go to the arcade centre, sharpen my skills and beat the other fighters to the end. What disappointed me was the ability to execute multiple hits or better known as 'excel mode' in this game was overdone. Now you don't even have to master the timing and movements to make your excel combos look astonishing, you just press one button until the excel gauge finish. What do you get? A series of pathetic kicks and punches. Sorry gamers but we trained ourselves to master the skills for a reason that is to be better than others. The fighting is not as intense and fun as Street Fighter EX 2 where you have to perform different movements and with correct timing during the excel. I'd rather play Street Fighter EX 2 than plus because the word 'plus' means something new was added but the way I see it, it was the other way around.
Overall: 8/10
It is still a great game to play during your free time. This game could be better if the problem is fixed. Since Street Fighter EX 2 was not released in this platform (only available in the arcade version), we just have to be satisfied with the plus version. 'Hadou-ken!'.
