Parasite Eve II

"A great game... nothing more, nothing less"

Gameplay - Well, to sum it up, this game is very fun... except when you get killed. And, unfortunately, you get killed a lot. But other than that, shooting the hell out of nmc's is very fun.
Like I said before, the game is very hard. There's no way you'll play through the game a first time and not get killed a few times. There's just no way. Other than the difficulty, the game should be more than fun.

On a scale of one to ten on hardness, 10 being hardest, I would give this game a 7. The game constanly locks doors, gives you numerous opponents, and several other things that make you just cry, ''why me? I didn't do anything to you, mr.game!''. But, nonetheless, the game is more challenging because of what you must go through. After you get more toys, such as grenades, flamethrowers, and high-voltage stun guns the game starts to get kinda cool; because of all the ways you can kill the bad guys.

Story - You're detective Aya Brea, working in MIST (an FBI branch that hunts down and kills all neo-mitochondria creatures). The game takes place 3 years after the New York blockade incident, which resulted in a tragic loss of life and the evacuation of Manhattan (play Parasite Eve 1 for more info). Cool, huh? Now, new problems with NMC's start to arise. Aya even discovers some ANMC's (Artificial NMC's). Aya must find and destroy whoever is behind this. What will be the dominant species? It all rests on your shoulders...

Video/Audio- Perfect/Almost Perfect. The graphics are intense. They depict Aya and her opponents very nicely. If you have the PS2, they're even better (somehow).

Even the audio is excellent. The only thing is I wish they had some more invigorating music. But other than that, it's perfect.

Re playability - I have to give this game credit for re playability. If you're looking for a challenge, stop searching. 3 of the 4 extra modes should more than satisfy your craving. If you're looking to just play the game over because you got a bad ending or just for fun, replay mode makes the game 1/2 as hard and 5 times more fun. This game can be played over, and over, and over.

To buy or to rent? - BUY! BUY! This game is a must buy. There's no way you can survive without it. This game has everything you would expect from Squaresoft.
