Hokuto no Ken: Seiki Matsukyu Seishi Densetsu
Review by LastFlik
"Not only for fans of Kenshiro."
When a friend of mine told me from a new game about Hokuto no Ken, I thought ''hope they make it interesting this time...''. Well, to my surprise (as I do not believe that much in Bandai), they sure did. Although it can be boring sometimes if you don't know Japanese, the game in itself is really good. The long wait between battles sure pays off.
·Gameplay-10: The battling system is actually based in a 3D engine, like the ones in Fighting Force, Spider-Man , or Gekido ,and this in itself makes up a good game. The controls are not hard to dominate(just punch , kick , and jump), and heavy damaging combos are pretty easy to learn. And , as a finishing touch for the bosses and some enemies, you have to press a certain combination of buttons, but with the right timing , is easy. Don't expect only easy battles, there is a lot of variety in the kind of enemies you will fight with.
·Story-10: This is because the entire Hokuto no Ken series had a good story, and this game is that: Kenshiro's story from the anime and the manga.
·Audio/Video-8: Well, the music is the same. The music from the opening is actually the same as the original opening of the anime, and all the Bgm is here as well. Graphics... I think the faces are too expression-less (well, Kenshiro always looks angry, but that is like the original series). But the characters actually are well done. Poligons are a little too visible...
·Replayability-9:This game actually is worth of beating it a lot of times, specially to get all the hidden stuff... It can get a little boring, but after you finish a scene , you can select to start from there anytime! It also has a strange option where you can change the dialogue from the game, making strange combinations (For example, change a serious conversation to a bunch of laughs... that's funny, trust me).
·To buy or to rent?- Well, I can tell you, this game is worth the money; actually, is probably the best game of this kind I have played on Playstation. If you see it, go get it.You will not be disappointed.
To end this review (the first one I have ever wrote!), I should say that, even if you are not a fan of the series, if you like 3D battle games, this game is for you,I'm sure about that. Thanks for reading.
