Mega Man X4
Review by ATadeo
"Its futuristic action will keep you glued to your seats!"
This game is one of the best platform shooting games I've ever seen as well as one of the best Megaman games. Now, you get to play Megaman's brother, Zero. The futuristic action will keep you glued to your seats as well as your Playstation system. Here is the criteria that I'm using to judge the game.
Gameplay/Controls (10 pts): You might think that this game's gameplay is just the same as the previous Megaman titles. Well, you're wrong. You'll enjoy more abilities and more upgrades for Megaman. Not to mention that the AI of the bosses are much improved and adds to the excitement and strategy in the game. Another good element in the game is that you can also play as Zero. You'll be fascinated with his moves and his abilities. For the controls, Megaman's controls has never been so easy. It's easy to negotiate different obstacles and the buttons are nicely mapped. But, it do require practice to be able to pull off and master some of the hard moves.
Storyline (8): The futuristic theme of the game is excellent. The story evolves around the Mavericks, or in simpler terms, rebels, who wants to be liberate from human control. Megaman and Zero rushes in to save everyone from these mad robots. There's also a bit of mystery that really spices up the storyline of the game. See it to believe it.
Graphics/Sounds (9 pts): Not much can be said about the graphics of this game. It's basically the same as the previous Megaman X games. Although, there are few enhancements to some of the effects like the blasts and the weapons. For the sounds, this is surely one of the best sound effects for a Megaman game. The explosions and the sounds of the weapons are very much realistic and sometimes, this will put you at the edge of your seats or jump up from your seats.
Replay Value (6 pts): For the replayability of the game, you may want to try out both Zero and Megaman. But after that, there really isn't much to do when replaying this game. You'll just go over everything once more. You'll most like to get bored, if you'll ask me.
As a conclusion, if you want some futuristic robot action and also, if you're a fan of the Megaman Series, I'm sure that you wouldn't want to miss this one. This will make your previous games unwanted and you'll enjoy more and more as you progress through the game. So, go out now and buy this one. It's really recommended.
