Mega Man X4
Review by shigman
"Megaman X hits the Playstation......"
Now this game shows what Megaman X can handle on the playstation. Good graphics and storyline, responsive control, and outstanding replayability. Too bad it doesnt have a multiplayer mode, but we all have grown used to that with the Megaman series. Well onto the review!
Graphics - 9
No one imagined the game would look this good when it came out for the playstation in 1997. This is one of the few Megaman games that have more than one ending. Unlike in X5, where all you get is still pictures instead of FMV, this game has alot of FMV (full motion video) sequences, and they all look very cool. You can play as either Megaman X or Zero in this game, and there both well animated. Plus the backgrounds also look cool, but their not quite 3d like in other games *cough* CastleVania: Symphony of the Night *cough*.
Gameplay - 10
Now this is how a Megaman X game is supposed to play like on the playstation. Its not to hard, and by all means not to easy, unless your a veteran Megaman player. Unlike in X5 you dont have excessive dialog, which is a plus. My favorite part of the game is how Zero fits so perfectly in it. I would think this is his first time as a ''real'' playable charecter, he wouldnt feel as good as Megaman X. But Capcom did a pretty good job, also he has a different ending adding to the replay value. Though now I can see there running out of ideas for the bosses, because quite a few of them are pretty bland. But after Capcom creating 24 bosses for the Megaman X games, plus around 75 bosses for the Megaman series (99 total), that should be no surprise.
Replay Value - 9
So far, Ive beaten this game 3 times, and each time I did it in a different way. Your guarenteed to beat it atleast 2 times, so you can see both endings (beat it with X and Zero). Some of the bosses can be easy, but others are really hard. I beat this game in one weekend, so its not one of those incredably hard Megaman X games. Of course if you use a guide, you can easily beat this game in one sitting. Now you can get this game for around 20 dollars new, so you best check it out.
