Resident Evil: Survivor
Review by Neon Knight IV
"A disgrace to the RE series"
Resident Evil: Survivor is a disgrace to the resident evil series. I wasted an hour or two on it so I'm gonna feel better once i write this review.
The best thing about RE: Survivor: Its RE in 1st person!
The worst thing about RE: Suvivor: You can't save the game!
Gameplay: Shallow and limited. Not many weapons, puzzles are far too easy and you can't save your game!!!Which means that if you want to pass this game it will last you an hour or two and then you're finished with it! Zombies take at least 5 bullets to kill, and pose no threat in killing you, unless you stand there for 5 minutes doing nothing, they might kill you then. Resident Evils 1,2 and 3 were all excellent, but this is just rubbish. 5/10
Graphics: Oh man, these are bad! The zombies often have glitches and you can't see them biting you, instead you see their heads bouncing off the screen. FMV scenes look like those of 1995, and I was expecting them to be brilliant after the wonderful Resident Evil 3. The ending video is son bad, almost painful to the eye. 3/10
Sound: The one part of RE: Survivor that is OK. The charachters voices are quite good, unlike RE1, but the music isn't as...spooky as that of previous RE games. Sound effects are pretty good too. 7/10
Controls: Survivor suffers from a good number of control issues. Like in most first-person exploration games, there's no strafe, and navigating corners can be taxing. Once you run into a group of enemies, you simply stop moving and start shooting. And the actual shooting is a real disappointment. It doesn't appear that shooting zombies in vital areas such as the head or chest hurts them any more than grazing their elbows does, and the guns that you get are extremely weak. Not only do you usually have to pump six rounds into your average zombie, but those six rounds take forever to fire because Survivor limits how fast you can shoot. 5/10
Charachters: The weakest link. Goodbye. The main charachter dosen't know who he is, and he finds out all at one part of the game. Lott and his sister are the two other charachtres of the game, and they don't do it justice. 1/10
Storyline: Don't even get me started. 3/10
Rent or buy: Don't make the same mistake I did. Rent! And only if you get a discount.
